13.26% Tempest of the Steel Mecha / Chapter 13: Is This Still Basic Training?

Kapitel 13: Is This Still Basic Training?

It wasn't Li Feng who opened his eyes after three seconds, but the feeling of his body and bones melting after being focused by laser made him understand that, as Xiao Jin put it, this kind of pain was within his mental capacity.

Li Feng learned an idiom firsthand – "better off dead than alive!"

He experienced the terrifyingness of advanced civilization, which was a test that almost caused his body and spirit to collapse. Li Feng began his true hellish ordeal.

But don't think this was just a robotic execution. While it might be possible for other civilizations, the Maya civilization was a branch of Earth civilization, and the most advanced one at that. If military experts were to witness this training, they might worship Xiao Jin as an ancestor, as this was the ultimate dream they had pursued all their lives. However, due to various backwardness, they were still far from achieving it.

Li Feng, who was born into good fortune, was not ungrateful, but he was just a high school student, not a real soldier. Without the self-training he started in junior high, he might really not have been able to withstand the collapse. This was also an error in Xiao Jin's calculation, as the calculated edge of collapse would randomly change.

But Li Feng was indeed different from ordinary people. A high school student from an ordinary family would definitely not be fascinated by boring training, but Li Feng did it. When he experienced some benefits from the pain, Li Feng gritted his teeth and persevered. He was very clear that he either had to complete it while alive, or die here and become a vegetable!

He didn't want to die. He had parents, friends… and he was still a virgin!

What Xiao Jin considered the most basic, was actually the tempering of various parts of the body, as well as proficient mastery. For example, Li Feng's leg kicks used to only go as high as near his head, which was already quite exaggerated, but now he had to raise it all the way to vertical to the ground, with the time between zero point three seconds to zero point four seconds, otherwise it would be… cleaved!

The most basic training took a full month, and during the first week of that month, Li Feng had three thoughts of suicide and two times when he was close to the edge of collapse. But he made it through, even surprising himself. He really did survive the simple basic training of Xiao Jin, and Li Feng even renamed him Devil Jin.

For a month's training, Xiao Jin gave Li Feng a barely passing score, which according to Earth's algorithm, is sixty-one points, one of which is an encouragement prize.

The results of basic training enable Li Feng to fully utilize every part of his body, and react accurately to attacks even under ten times the gravity. However, as Devil Jin puts it, this is merely mechanical movement and only the basic requirement for a warrior. It's rather peculiar to be called mechanical by a machine, but besides this, there is also the ability to withstand various attacks. Due to the continuous bombardment of lasers, electric shocks, radiation, and other attacks, Li Feng has become very familiar with their effects. After experiencing them countless times, he no longer feels fear and has gained a thorough understanding of their pros and cons.

This training stems from a simple anecdote: the visual and psychological effects of someone attacking you with a wooden sword versus a sharp long knife are entirely different, resulting in different reactions. Excessive tension and fear in the latter case can lead to impaired performance. Therefore, the laser training not only hones the body but also eliminates fear, enabling one to make cool-headed judgments in any situation.

In the view of Devil Jin, Li Feng has barely met the requirements. It's not that Xiao Jin is too devilish; it's just that its emotional system is severely damaged, resulting in its current rigidness. It's unclear whether this is fortunate or unfortunate for Li Feng.

As for the mental response, it's directly connected to Li Feng's body through system adjustments and carries out various genetic self-evolution. This evolution is not passive like the Evintar people; it's completely intrinsic, which means that the current Earth technology is unable to detect it.

In principle, the environment determines the direction of evolution, and Xiao Jin accelerates this process using the power of the Mayan civilization. Of course, to a machine, this is a matter of fact with no feeling, but to others… this is simply a god-like creative power.

Unfortunately, Li Feng is completely unaware of this and has no interest in it. He spends his days training, sleeping, and even foregoing the basic necessities of life such as eating and excretion. Sleep is necessary for the spiritual realm to rest, and eight hours is the optimal duration. More than that is unnecessary, and less is insufficient.

At the beginning, Li Feng found himself entirely unaccustomed to the routine, either struggling to fall asleep or plagued by nightmares. When he finally managed to drift off, he was roused by gentle laser beams. After several days of repetition, he learned how to regulate his entry into deep sleep, enabling him to achieve optimal rest. Alas, this blissful state was short-lived, as he continued to sleep for eight hours each night, but with one to three nocturnal attacks interspersed. Consequently, he was obliged to maintain a certain degree of vigilance – a paradoxical situation. However, Devil Jin insisted that balance could be achieved, a goal that Li Feng himself had to pursue and attain.

Li Feng was at his wits' end. Was he being trained to be a combatant or an assassin? Unfortunately, Devil Jin was not inclined to reason. At moments of peril, human potential could be fully harnessed, and becoming accustomed to this type of sleep took only three days. The effect was not solely limited to improved sleep, but also manifested as an indescribable intuition when danger arose.

This sensation was familiar to seasoned soldiers, as well as to a select few exceptionally talented individuals with heightened extrasensory perception, commonly known as the sixth sense. However, in Li Feng's case, it was a product of rigorous training.

But all of this was just the foundational phase, as the first month had only just drawn to a close, with subsequent training looming ahead.

At the time, Li Feng had only one thought: how idyllic his life was just one month prior!
