No one could ever imagine how many times Maevie had entered this contact in one day. She opened the Chat History of the contact to see the long never-ending messages she had sent to him. To which she had never gotten a single reply.
In the past twelve years of her crush, she knew he wanted nothing more than to ignore her. But she loves even his effort to try and ignore her. Even the look of disgust that he gave her.
Somebody once told her that what she had for him was not love. But plain obsession.
Maybe it was indeed right. She was obsessed with him. Otherwise, what else could be the reason for all the foolish actions she took just to gain his attention.
She did not have the hope that he would pick up her call when she dialed him. As he had never did before. But the drunk girl had little control over her actions now.
And as she expected, the call was unreceived. She was sure, the only reason he did not block her number was because he did not want her to change her number and cause more trouble for him. Again.
Again, because it had happened previously.
She thought that she had already experienced a heart break. But she had never had such pain before. It was as if something was cutting off the inside of her chest, yet at the same time squishing it hard.
She felt breathless. And wanted to be mindless. Forget about all her pain.
But Maevie had enough drink already. She had come all alone and the little conscience she had saved was reminding her of that. She came out of the private room and was on the way to head home when a dashing man approached her.
"Hey pretty lady, are you here on your own?"
"…"
Maevie did not say anything. Just stared at the man who appeared to be of the same age as her.
'Must be in college.' She thought.
"If you're lonely, I can keep you company." Said the man as he got unnecessarily close to her.
She was lonely indeed. For a second, the young blood in her veins was tempting her to do reckless things.
'What if I followed the man?'
The man was not too bad looking. She observed.
'But Luther is more handsome.' A voice in her head argued.
'But he doesn't want me.' Reasoned back the other side of her consciousness.
She looked straight into the man's eyes. They were indeed attractive.
"I can show you how beautiful a night…." The man blew into her ears. "And fun…"
'Does this man want me?'
Maevie thought as she felt a chill down her spine.
'I guess I'm not that unattractive…'
Maevie had heard that a man and a woman would go back to their primal instinct if conscience wasn't the leash that bound the human society. And with the alcohol messing with her mind, the blooming flower was going back to her instinct. Being attracted to an opposite sex.
She was questioning whether to do something that she had never done. Whether if it really matters or not.
'Many girls do it anyway…'
The young man noticed that the pretty girl in front of him was not resisting his approach. So, he took another step further. His hands grasped hers as he cornered her to the wall. He eyes grazed from her eyes to her pointy little nose to the plum like lips.
Maevie closed her eyes as she felt the short breaths of the man. He was nervous… Her sixth sense could sense that his face was inches away from her ready to land his lips on hers. And she was ready to take his…
But then she remembered something.
"This is your last chance, Maevie. Stay here and reflect on your misconducts."
She remembered the angered face of her Second Brother Llyod when he came to see her in the lockup. She did not want to disappoint them anymore.
Maevie opened her eyes and pushed him away with little strength.
"No… Thank you."
Maevie regretted drinking too much, that too alone. She knew that in her state if the guy forced her, she would have no strength to fight back. But thankfully, not all men are asshole.
The man took a few steps back and breathed out a long sigh of disappointment. Before he questioned.
"Do you need help getting to your car?"
Some clarity had come to Maevie's mind. She politely refused the offer of help.
The guy just gave her a last smile and went away after the rejection.
Then she got to her car. Her mind was congested with too much thoughts, she did not even remember to call for a driver or her assistant. She in her drunk state was driving the car.
It was already 1 in midnight and the street she was driving at had no other vehicle driving, as it was not a main street. Usually, it would not be this deserted. But since it was the NewYear holidays, there was little to no people on the street. And it was also midnight.
With blank mind, she steadily drove the car into empty streets. She was not aware of where she was driving to.
Suddenly, a vision came to her mind.
A car which was driving in an uncontrollable speed crashing into another car. Then she heard a loud shout.
"STOP"
The call was what woke her up from her mindless state. Her breath was short and uncountable as she stopped her car at a junction. With her breaths still short she got out of the car and sat down leaning onto it.
'What the hell was I doing?'
She questioned her reckless action of drunk driving.
She covered her face with her hands and took deep and long breaths as she tried to calm herself down. It took her a few minutes for her to do so. Then she opened her phone and searched for the app to hire temporary driver. When the download of the app was completed, she was about to call the number provided to her when she heard a loud grumble of engine which seemed to be approaching faster than she could grasp.
And it all happened within a second. Maevie was standing on the path at the corner of the junction. Then a flash appeared from the adjacent street and took a turn towards the street she was. She saw it right before her eyes, the car driver could not control the speed and cut the corner. The back of the speeding car hit hers and the force of the impact pushed her car towards her.
"RUN"
Her mind was screaming at her. But her feet were stuck to the ground. She felt the impact and the fall. Her ears were ringing as her mind seemed to be sucked into a vacuum.
And the next thing she knew she was in an all-white room. With a blue bunny calling out.
"Hello. Miss Maevie Oz. You've been admitted as the 178455th student in our Villain and Villainess Redemption Academy (VRA)."
