Chapter Eighty-Two: Melodies of Fate
"Idiot, what are you laughing at?" Aaron King asked, his expression awkward yet undeniably cute. "Oh, nothing, I'm just surprised," Lydia Moore chuckled awkwardly. "If it weren't for…" "Wow, look over there, there's a performance going on. It looks amazing!" Lydia Moore didn't finish her sentence before she excitedly ran off toward the show.
From a distance, Aaron King watched her eyes sparkle with excitement, a subtle smile tugging at his lips.
"I want to ask you something. Did you ever go to an amusement park when you were a kid?" the girl asked, her voice full of anticipation. "What does it matter to you? Why should I tell an idiot like you?" the boy replied coolly. "I see… But I've never been to one, and I've always wanted to go," the girl sighed softly, her tone revealing an unmistakable sense of disappointment.
The words she had spoken two months ago echoed in Aaron King's ears. He realized that, in a way, he had just fulfilled one of her dreams.
"What are you doing just standing there?" Lydia Moore ran back to his side. "The performance over there is really amazing. Let's go watch it together." She grabbed his arm and pulled him toward the performance area, only relaxing once she was sure he wouldn't walk away.
In the center of the venue, a group of performers dressed as classic Disney characters were joyfully singing and dancing. Their lively and adorable appearances seemed to transport the visitors into a magical cartoon world. Lydia Moore couldn't help but exclaim in admiration, her excitement drawing Aaron King's attention to the show as well.
"Hey, isn't that Aaron King over there? He's so handsome!" "Oh my God, it really is him! He's even more gorgeous than he looks on TV. I can't breathe!" Two girls excitedly pulled out their phones and began snapping pictures furiously.
Other girls watching the performance quickly followed suit, their exclamations of "He's so dreamy," "What a great physique," and "I wish he were my boyfriend" echoed through the crowd. Before long, a growing fan club of girls had formed, with camera flashes lighting up the area as their excitement bubbled over.
These shallow fan girls, Aaron King thought with disgust, frowning deeply. He grabbed Lydia Moore's hand and pulled her out of the crowd. Lydia hurried to keep up with his pace, but no matter where they went, Aaron King remained the center of attention. The girls, in particular, were relentless in their pursuit, causing his expression to grow increasingly dark.
As they passed a toy store, Lydia Moore suddenly had a flash of inspiration. "I've got an idea!" she exclaimed, dragging Aaron King into the store.
The shelves of the toy store were lined with all sorts of cartoon character masks. Lydia Moore selected a cute Mickey Mouse mask and handed it to Aaron King. "Here—" "What? You're not seriously suggesting that I wear something this childish, are you? This is ridiculous!" Aaron King protested vehemently.
"This is our only option, so just bear with it," Lydia Moore coaxed patiently. His looks were simply too eye-catching. "No way!" Aaron King turned his face away, determined not to do something so idiotic. Absolutely not!
"Fine, I guess we'll just have to go back to school," Lydia Moore sighed, placing the Mickey mask back on the shelf. Although it would be a shame to leave now, she didn't want to cause Aaron King any more trouble. Besides, just being here was already more than enough for her. She gathered her resolve, smiled, and turned to leave.
"But I've always wanted to go…" Aaron King suddenly tightened his grip, his mind flashing back to her earlier words. "Hey, idiot—" he called out, stopping her in her tracks. Lydia Moore turned around, her smile bright and sunny.
Amidst the bustling amusement park, a girl in a light green jacket and a perfectly built boy wearing a Mickey Mouse mask walked side by side. The boy occasionally knocked the girl on the head with his finger, causing her to cry out in pain, but her face remained lit up with a brilliant smile.
"There are so many games here. What do you want to play?" Lydia Moore asked, trying to please Aaron King, who was clearly unhappy about wearing the mask. Aaron King stopped and pointed arrogantly behind her. Lydia Moore turned to look. A grand, ornate carousel was spinning to the music, its beautifully crafted horses taking visitors on endless loops to the land of dreams and happiness.
A carousel! Lydia Moore couldn't believe Aaron King had such a soft and tender side. It was just too adorable! She eagerly ran toward the carousel, only to be pulled back by her collar. "Not that one, the one behind it, idiot!" Aaron King clarified, pointing more specifically.
Lydia Moore followed his finger and realized that he wasn't pointing at the carousel but at the towering roller coaster behind it. "You can't be serious," Lydia Moore gulped, turning back to him with a stiff smile. "I am," Aaron King replied, grabbing her arm and dragging her to the ticket booth.
Before getting on the ride, Lydia Moore clung desperately to the handrail, refusing to board. In the end, Aaron King forcibly lifted her into the seat. Once they were on, Lydia Moore clutched her safety harness tightly, muttering prayers under her breath. Seeing her tightly shut eyes and tense expression, Aaron King chuckled, mocking her, "Idiot, I didn't know you were such a scaredy-cat."
"I told you I'm afraid of heights, you big demon!" Lydia Moore snapped back, opening her eyes just as the roller coaster shot upward with incredible force. In the next second, she let out a terrified scream. The roller coaster twisted and turned high above the ground, its passengers screaming in exhilaration and fear. As the ride continued its thrilling ascent, the waves of screams only grew louder.
Lydia Moore kept her eyes tightly shut, screaming at the top of her lungs while clutching Aaron King's shirt in a desperate grip. By the time they got off the ride, Lydia Moore's voice was hoarse, and Aaron King's jacket was wrinkled and stretched from her frantic pulling. But Aaron King, now fully in the mood for fun, wasn't ready to call it quits. He dragged her along to more high-altitude rides, pushing her to her limits until she was too exhausted to continue. Only then did he reluctantly suggest they get some lunch.
By the wishing fountain in the center of the amusement park, many visitors gathered to take photos or toss coins in, making wishes. The clear, sparkling water shot upward, creating little splashes as the coins shimmered beneath the surface.
A girl in a light green jacket sat by the fountain, happily devouring a beautifully crafted box of sushi, while the boy next to her sipped water moodily, his handsome, brooding face hidden behind a Mickey Mouse mask.
"Wow, this is so delicious," Lydia Moore exclaimed between bites. After all those intense rides, her energy was completely drained, making everything taste especially good. The atmosphere around her only enhanced her appetite. "Do you want some?" She picked out the most elaborate piece of sushi from the box and offered it to Aaron King. "Try it; it's really tasty."
