Kapitel 4: CHAPTER FIVE.

Susanna felt a cold and unprecedented shudder stream down her spinal vertebrae as their eyes locked.

She suddenly felt a cold sweat trickle down from her bushy brows. Her heartbeat drastically increased as she felt the expressionless royal blue eyes stare at her and pierced deep into her.

They were like anything she'd never seen, like two sapphires dipped in milky pools and emenating such strong radiance that tore her organs apart and throwing them a distance away.

She couldn't tell what he was thinking or what he was formulating in his mind.

Then, to her relief, he disengaged the stare and looked down on his phone for a while.

It was then that Susanna noticed that everyone had stopped what they were doing and staring at them.

Oh God, she sighed silently as she wished this awkward moment would end.

But her wish was rather gallant -the awkward moment didn't end.

Instead, it grew rather worse than she could ever expect.

Her eyes suddenly caught him, walking towards her, his eyes never leaving hers. If not for the eyes, she maybe could have guessed that he was heading to someone else. But no! It was her, he was heading towards her.

What? She gasped. This certainly had to be a mistake, probably the mistake of the year.

Her heartbeat started to increase its pace again. This time she could feel her feeble heart threaten to explode out of her chest cavity.

She could feel the stares once more, and this time, she could also feel the stares of the phone cameras.

"Hey," She heard him say . His voice was soft and quite puissant.

As much as she would hate to admit it, she loved his voice, and she loved how it was addressed to her.

She gulped hard as she lifted her green eyes to look at him. They landed on his pink lips and a slow gasp left her lips.

Up close, they were suddenly much luscious and kissable than when she had first seen them from a distance. She'd never kissed a boy before but now, she was more than ready to do it, especially with Alan.

Reluctantly, she directed her eyes to his. She met them staring directly at her, a way nobody had ever stared at her. Then she realized that she couldn't talk.

Her lips, they were suddenly heavy.

They were unable to produce any word, however badly she wanted to say something to avoid appearing as rude.

"Hi," She managed to say after a lot of struggle.

He seemed to notice her struggle as he gave out a sly smile.

The smile, Susanna throught, why is it so familiar?

Where had she seen it? She was sure she had seen such a smile at some point. But where?

Then he sighed, looked around the class, skillfully ignoring the numerous stares from the students and the bright glaring lights of the cameras and then brought his attention back to her. "Can I sit with you?"

This request almost threw Susanna off her chair.

Sit? With me?Would that even be possible? She didn't even know him!

But how could she say no? Not like she liked him, anyway.

She just didn't want to embarrass a god in front of his highly esteemed fans. Again, she struggled to find her bearing of words.

She averted her gaze from his as she tried to figure out the best answer to give him. She saw his two friends staring at them in awe and amazement. What were their names again? She tried to remember from what Della had told her just the day before. She couldn't. Never mind, she told herself.

"Hmmm?" She heard again. She turned to him, his brows were held up high in search for an answer.

She gulped hard, "Sure," She said.

A loud gasp escaped from the students as Alan took a seat beside her. She could feel him smile beside her. Her heart was now out of control. What was she doing to her? Why did she suddenly feel this nervous before him? Who the hell was he to make her feel that way?

All these questions ran through her mind almost making her go nuts.

It had been almost imperceptible to her that someday, a guy would make her feel nervous.

"I'm Alan," She heard him say slowly, as if he didn't want anyone to hear what he was saying.

Who the hell didn't know his name? Well, that would be her before Della told her about him and Georgina's constant talks about him.

But right now she was in a conversation with Cedarhurst's most respected person, most adored and to her dismay, she couldn't understand why she was suddenly mute. She could have instantly shunned him off just like she did to all the guys that dared approach her and make him regret ever talking to her. But she just couldn't . She knew this was different, almost like he'd taken full siege of her heart leaving her with zero control.

She felt somehow uneasy as he spoke his words, his utterances made her flesh swell with passion she had never experienced before.

What is really happening to you Susanna, she asked herself in desperation.

"Susanna Dewell," She uttered finally.

Was the last name really necessary? She questioned herself again.

"You're not much of a talker, are ya?"

Of course I am, She felt like saying, but Your stupid charms are somehow getting in my way.

"No," She replied with a smile which she had no idea where it came from.

"You seem... Familiar," Alan said, staring at her intently.

Familiar? No way? How could she be familiar to a rich guy when the closest she'd ever been to a rich guy was when Snoop Dogg had a concert back in Texas, and she'd been in the last row.

And how exactly could she , a poor girl from Moses lake be familiar with a guy as famous as hell? Wasn't it practically impossible?

"I think you're mistaken," She said.

"You sure, Susanna?"

A smile left her lips the moment he mentioned her name.

It was just perfect.

Quietly, she nodded in affirmative.

"Wanna know one thing about me, Susanna?"He asked again with a smile. God, that smile was indeed a killer one.

"I might be preoccupied by so much stuff in my life, but one thing, I never forget old and golden memories."

Susanna could now feel her heart racing much faster than ever before.

"I think.... You're mistaken."

He smiled, "You just repeated the same thing you said, but I'm completely sure that I've met you somewhere."

"If you've met me," Susanna began, "Then where?"

Alan sighed softly and began, "That night in..."

His words were interrupted by the sudden entrance of a teacher in the class. Everyone immediately focused on their businesses.

The teacher seemed to be in her mid forties, a tall blonde lady clad in a colorful suit that pronounced her gothic nature that instantly made Susanna develop a liking for her.

Her striking dark eyes skimmed across the entire room, no one with a clue of what she was searching for.

Then they suddenly stopped at Susanna and a sly smile erupted from her lips.

"I was told we had a new student," She said, walking across the room, hands behind her back, "But they never told me how beautiful she would turn out to be."

Susanna immediately felt her cheeks grow hot and red as she quickly glanced at the head of her desk, too shy to lift her head.

"What's your name, pumpkin?" She heard her ask.

She gasped. Pumpkin? It had been a long time before anyone called her that. The last person to do so was her mom, when she was just seven.

Why did she call me pumpkin? She thought.

Then to her shock, Alan seemed to have noticed her strain as he did something that she totally never expected him to do. He spoke for her.

"She's Susanna Dewell," He said with such boldness that amazed her and everyone else in the room.

Then she gasped and turned to him in a whisper,"How did you know my last name?"

"You told me yourself, didn't you?" Alan whispered back, chuckling.

"I did?" Susanna said in disbelief. She never mentioned her last name to a guy, just formal stuff like introducing herself before a class or...

"Are you okay, Susanna?" She heard the teacher say.

She gasped back to existence, "Yeah... Yeah I'm fine."

The teacher smiled, "Well as I was saying, I'm Professor Babita Shetty, history teacher. You love history, Susanna?"

Susanna nodded.

"I knew as much," She said smiling, "Now Alan's got some competition, right?"

"We'll see about that," Alan said beside her his voice carrying with it the joyful tone that Susanna greatly admired. Admired or loved?

"I never came to teach today," Professor Babita announced, much to the relief of everyone, "I just came to confirm the presence of our new Angelita,"She pronounced the last word in some Spanish accent.

It was perfect... and deadly enough to make her cheeks flush redder than a beetroot.

"Please, will you come over to my office after classes? I need to show you something," Professor Babita said to her.

"Yes,miss," Susanna said, her cheeks still red.

She smiled and left the class with the bundle of books she arrived with. Susanna heaved a sigh of relief. That was extremely unexpected, She thought.

"She's one of the nicest around, you'll love her," Alan said.

"She certainly is," She said unaware of a smile crawling from her lips.

"Susanna?" She suddenly heard somebody call behind her. She turned. It was Della

.

"Della?" She said.

"I need to speak with you, outside."

"What's up?" Susanna asked.

"Just let's go, okay?" Della insisted.

The two of them walked out of the class, Susanna having mustered courage enough to confront a ghost to walk out of the class and ignore all the stares.

Della led her into an empty room just next to their class and closed the door behind them.

She then turned to Susanna, "Girl, do you have an inkling how famous you're right now?"

Susanna frowned, "Famous? I just came in moments ago, Della. How the hell would I suddenly be famous?"

"That's just the fun part of it, Anna. You came in the first day and Alan Brailsford is already interested in you," Della said.

" Don't be ridiculous, Della. How would he fall for someone like me? "

" Alan has never requested to sit close to a girl before,"Della said.

" Wait, you heard him say that? "

" Ears work pretty well around here, Susanna. "

" So what's the big deal about him requesting to sit close to me? "

Della brought out her cellphone and with her eyes wide open and staring at Susanna intently, she showed her the phone," This Susanna, "She said," Is the big deal. "

Susanna gasped." What? My pictures all over Instagram?"

" See the big deal thing now? Here's the thing, Remember I told you that Alan has a girlfriend?"

Susanna sighed," Yeah. "

" And that she hates competition? "

" Yeah, "Susanna mumbled again, still in shock.

" Well, apparently you are now in the competition. "

Susanna instantly looked at her. Competition?

She was already in it?

" How? I mean I didn't even do anything with him? I barely even looked at him!"

"Sorry, girl but Lola will never listen to that, "Della said with a sigh.

Susanna hated to admit it, she somehow feared this Lola that she hadn't met yet, all after the stories that Della had been telling her. But could she be that bad?

No , Susanna told herself, if she could handle Georgina then she could handle Lola. But then she hadn't yet tasted a glimpse of her, to know how bad she was. So, she concluded, prevention is better than regret.

She turned to Della, "So what do I do?"

Della instantly heaved a sigh of relief, "God, I was hoping you'd ask."

"I did," Susanna said her gaze still fixed at her.

She considered this a favor for her dad. She couldn't afford to get kicked out of the school on her first day after she beats up a rich brat fighting over a guy.

"Remember that friend I told you about?" Della asked.

Susanna nodded, but didn't say a thing.

"With her, we can stay in peace from Lola. Her dad is actually the..."

"Della?" A voice called out at the door. The two turned. So Della hadn't really closed the door.

Staring at them with a curious look at the door was a red head who to Susanna, appeared as some rich kid who had no sense of direction, where she was heading to. Or maybe she was searching for Someone who she had no Idea where he or she was.

Susanna expected her to ask Della if she has seen the person she was searching for. This was until Della called out her name and Susanna immediately remembered Della mentioning her .

"Audrey?" Della said, "Come in."

The girl walked in the room after locking the door. Her gaze was fixed on Susanna as she walked to where they were.

"Hey," She said.

"Hi," Della replied and turned to Susanna, "This is Audrey Hepburn."

Then she turned to Audrey, " Susanna Dewell."

Audrey smiled as she extended a handshake to Susanna, "Who doesn't know her already."

"Nice to meet you, Audrey," Susanna said, trying to ignore whatever she had said. She obviously wasn't ready for the famous thingy. She never even planned to.

"Don't worry, Susanna. Lola won't hurt you as long as I'm here, okay?" Audrey said as if she might have noticed her fears.

Susanna nodded, wondering why the hell she would need her when she could stand up for herself.

Without any friends, she had been among the most feared girls at her former school, even with the boys.

"How exactly does this Lola Adams look like? Is she an angel? I bet she is because Alan can't fall in love with any girl, right?"

"Oh ,Susanna, "Audrey said," Lola is indeed beautiful. But you know what? She was the most beautiful girl around until today. "

" What happened? "

Della chuckled," Then you arrived. "

" I think it would be nice if I invited her to the party, right? "Audrey asked Della.

Della gave out what looked like an unsure look," You see, She doesn't attend parties. She's some sort of die hard introvert. "

" But why? She would really light it up. Alan will be around, ya know. "

" When is it? "Susanna asked.

" This weekend on Saturday. "

" I don't have an invitation to come over. "

" If you get the invitation, would you come? "Audrey asked in ecstacy.

Susanna shrugged," I would try. "

" That's my girl, "Audrey said and hugged her.

Susanna scoffed, what was the big deal about her going for some party?

"And what do you mean by that?"

Audrey smiled, "I invite you for the party, Susanna Dewell."

Susanna chuckled," Just like that? "

"Yeah," Audrey replied.

" Guys, it's lunch. You hungry? "Della asked looking at her phone.

" As hell! "Audrey said
