Kapitel 23: Duel

As Auric assumed his stance, a palpable shift in his aura gripped the spectators. The knights and everyone present became suddenly intrigued, captivated by the unusual and fascinating form he displayed.

Auric honed his focus on his stance, and in a sudden surge of power, he unleashed a forceful punch towards Max. The impact of the blow caught Max off guard, leaving him astonished and compelled to defend himself.

Silence fell upon the scene, as everyone stood amazed by the attack. Even without the utilization of mana, it was evident to all that the punch possessed an undeniable strength. Auric had employed his boxing stance, leveraging his entire body weight behind the punch.

Observing the stunned silence of those around him, Auric felt a twinge of confusion. He wondered about their reaction.

Then, applause filled the air—clap, clap, clap! The knights, awestruck by the display, applauded with astonishment. They were fully aware of their young master's feeble stature, but despite his weakness, he had never exploited his status to bully or demean individuals of lower standing to release his pent-up frustrations. His genuine goodwill and compassion had endeared him to the servants, and they held him in high regard.

In a surprising turn of events, Max patted Auric on the back and chuckled, "Hahaha, brat, that was quite impressive! Who taught you that stance? It truly showcases excellent form." Although intended as a friendly gesture, the pat felt more like a slap, leaving Auric unsure whether to burst into laughter or shed a tear.

The transformation from being called a "potato" to now being referred to as a "brat" perplexed Auric. He didn't know whether to find it amusing or cry in response.

Even Aunt Lu couldn't help but express her admiration for Auric's punch. Observing everyone's reaction, Auric's spirits lifted, enveloped in a contented atmosphere.

"Now, let's engage in a duel and assess your magical prowess," Max declared, catching the attention of the knights.

However, Sir Thomas interjected, cautioning, "Sir Max, the young master lacks magical abilities. It might not be appropriate to make such a statement to him."

Before Uncle Max or Aunt Lu could intervene, Auric surprised everyone by saying, "Actually, I can use magic."

The proclamation left everyone in shock, their thoughts echoing, "The young master possesses magical powers?!" It had been common knowledge in Everlight Estate that Auric was incapable of wielding magic. Thus, hearing him claim otherwise, the onlookers were astounded, desperately seeking an explanation.

Without waiting for a response from the knights, Uncle Max decisively stated, "Let's commence, then."

Nodding in response, Auric took a deep breath, the anticipation within him intensifying. This was his first true battle, pitting him against a seasoned fighter like Max. Standing in the yard, without the confines of a ring to restrict their movements, Auric adjusted his stance, adopting a basic Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) posture. His eyes gleamed with excitement, poised to react to Max's initial move.

Max gazed down at Auric, his smile tinged with amusement. While aware that this was merely a sparring session to assess Auric's combat skills, Max perceived the young boy's resolute determination. Stepping forward, he circled Auric, assessing his opponent's capabilities. Auric remained unyielding, Auric stayed focused, ready to respond to any attack.

Max decided to take it easy on Auric, at least at first. He didn't want to overwhelm the young boy, so he refrained from using any magic. Auric, on the other hand, decided to use his basic Thunder and Dark magic elements. He focused his energy, channeling it into his body as he waited for Max's next move.

Suddenly, Max lunged forward, aiming a punch at Auric's face. Auric quickly sidestepped and retaliated with a Shadow Bind, hoping to catch Max off guard. Max easily dodged the attack, moving with the agility of a cat. He grinned, impressed by Auric's quick thinking.

Auric wasn't deterred, though. He knew he had to keep up the pressure if he wanted to stand a chance against Max. He unleashed a Shock, followed by a Static Charge, trying to weaken Max's defenses. Max blocked the attacks easily, but Auric could see a flicker of surprise in his eyes.

Auric decided to try something more advanced. He gathered his energy, summoning the power of lightning with a Lightning Step. He moved quickly, dodging Max's punches and striking back with a Spark. Max stumbled, caught off guard by the sudden burst of energy.

Despite the setback, Max was impressed. He could see that Auric had potential, even though he was just a newbie. Max decided to end the fight, not wanting to push Auric too hard. He stepped back, nodding in approval.

"You've got some skills, kid," Max said, clapping Auric on the back. "Keep practicing, and you'll be a force to be reckoned with."

Auric beamed with pride, feeling the rush of victory even though he had lost the fight. He knew he had a long way to go before he could match Max's level, but he was determined to keep training and improving.

This was just the beginning of his journey as a Battle Freak.

As everyone watched the fight, Aunt Lu was shocked, even though she was skeptical, she didn't question Auric about how he learned those magic skills or how he learned to fight with those stances.

After talking with everyone for some time, it was already afternoon. Aunt Lu made them lunch, and after having lunch, Max went to the festival spot where the festival would be held.

Time passed quickly, and it was already evening. The sun was setting, and the town started to shine with beautiful magic lights and everything. Even the music started. As they didn't have the technology to use recorded music in town, people played the music themselves, and even that was beautiful and sweet to listen to.

In Aunt Lu's house, As Auric prepared to attend the town festival, he carefully selected his outfit, wanting to strike the perfect balance between looking presentable and not drawing too much attention to himself. He opted for a simple yet elegant attire - a white linen shirt paired with dark brown trousers and sturdy boots.

The shirt was loose-fitting, allowing him to move freely and feel comfortable in the warm weather. The trousers, on the other hand, were tailored to fit him perfectly, accentuating his lean physique. He completed his look with a black leather belt, which added a touch of sophistication without being too flashy.

Auric's black hair was neatly combed back, revealing his handsome features, while his deep black eyes shone with a sense of determination and confidence. The simplicity of his outfit perfectly complemented his striking features, making him stand out in a subtle yet captivating way.

Auric got ready and left the room. He sat on the couch in the living room, tapping his foot impatiently, waiting for Aunt Lu and little Ellie to get ready for the town festival. He had been waiting for what felt like hours, but he knew he couldn't rush them. Finally, he heard footsteps coming down the stairs, and he looked up to see the mother and daughter pair making their way towards him.

Aunt Lu looked stunning in a long, flowing dress that hugged her curves in all the right places. The dress was a deep shade of blue that brought out the color of her eyes, and it had intricate beading along the neckline that sparkled in the light. Her hair was styled in loose waves, and she wore a simple silver necklace that complemented the dress perfectly.

Ellie, on the other hand, looked adorable in a pink sundress that flared out at the waist. The dress was covered in tiny floral patterns that matched her bright smile, and she wore a pair of white sandals that clicked on the hardwood floor. Her hair was styled in two braids that framed her face, and she had a little purse slung over her shoulder.

Auric couldn't help but smile at the sight of the two of them. They looked so beautiful and happy, and he knew they were going to have a great time at the festival. He stood up and greeted them both with a warm embrace.

"You both look so amazing," he said, admiring their outfits.

Aunt Lu beamed with pride, smoothing out her dress. "Thank you, Auric. You don't look too bad yourself," she said, teasingly.

Ellie giggled, tugging on Auric's sleeve. "Come on, let's go to the festival!" she said, bouncing with excitement.

Auric chuckled, feeling a sense of warmth in his chest.

As Auric looked around the room, he noticed that his Uncle Max was nowhere in sight. He turned to his Aunt Lu and asked, "Auntie Lu, where's Uncle Max? I thought he was going to come with us to the festival."

Aunt Lu smiled and shook her head. "Max got ready before us and went ahead to help with the town's preparations. He said he'll meet us there."

Auric nodded, feeling a sense of relief. He was glad that his uncle was doing his part to help out with the festival.

As they stepped out of the house, they were greeted by the sight of knights and guards waiting for them. The guards led the way, and Aunt Lu and Ellie walked ahead of Auric, holding hands. Auric walked behind them, admiring the sight of the town decorated in colorful banners and streamers. He could hear the sounds of music and laughter in the distance, and he knew that they were getting closer to the festival.

As they reached the town square, Auric's eyes widened at the sight of the bustling crowd. There were merchants selling all kinds of goods, acrobats performing daring stunts, and musicians playing lively tunes. The air was filled with the aroma of food cooking on open fires, and Auric's stomach growled in anticipation.

Aunt Lu smiled at Auric's expression. "Looks like you're excited," she said, patting his arm.
