Kapitel 227: "So, the Resistance once had the backing of the masses?"

The Popov family's power far exceeded the Valen and Smith families in  Black Sea City. According to Crystal, Abra had Awakened bodyguards around him. 

It also served as surveillance since the current head of the Popov family was now Polina. She needed to ensure Abra remained obedient.

Polina had eliminated ambitious family members, leaving behind only those who were either obedient or ineffectual. As Crystal had mentioned, Abra's main virtue was his obedience.

However, his obedience seemed merely superficial, a guise to deceive Polina. If he was truly obedient and loyal to the family, he wouldn't have gone to join the Resistance, hoping to use them to overthrow Polina.

"Has the Resistance always been so good at making empty promises?" Jonathan asked mockingly. "They pledge this and that, but have they delivered on much?"
