Kapitel 86: Regret - (Makai's Point of View)

Miserable, I sit on the floor where he had sat for a long time, hating myself for dimming his sun. I hate myself for causing him more pain than I have ever seen in him ever since I have known him.

I don't know how long I sat there, half-hopeful that he would come back and allow me to talk to him-- to give me the opportunity I hadn't been gracious enough to give him no matter how much he had pleaded with me over the past few weeks.

I feel a flare of hope when my phone rings, then sigh in disappointment when I see it's not Storm. Why would he even call me? He doesn't want to see me.

"Hello, Aris." My voice betrays my misery because I don't have the energy to conceal it.

Aris sighs. "You sound just as cheerful as Storm when he called me just now."

That perks me right up. "He called you? Is he okay? Did he tell you where he is?"
