Kapitel 101: Surveillance Area

"Damn! What kind of luck does the host have?" someone wrote. "The last time he died, he stumbled upon the conspiracy of the Night Rose, and now it's the Dark Kingdom's turn. And most importantly, he hasn't even dropped his staff yet!"

"Capital S! Long live Great Demacia! The anchor should buy a lottery ticket with luck like this," another chimed in.

"Luck? It's a mixed bag. Lucky enough to have two staffs explode in a row, but his Level 10 summon is a waste. All the hidden quests somehow end up with the anchor—it's absurd."

"Man, I'm so envious. There are still over 60 days until the public beta test. Anchor, can we join your team?"

"6666."

As Demacia scrolled through the chat, he couldn't help but feel a little proud. After a pause, he asked, "But does anyone know where we are? I didn't remember the route."

Though the responses were still full of envy and sarcasm, the crowd soon switched to providing answers, as was typical on the Chinese Internet. After about thirty seconds, one user replied:

"Based on the map the anchor shared, it's roughly 2,000 kilometers from Dongwu City to Chaoyang City. The steam trains in the game travel at around 100 kilometers per hour, and you've been riding for about five hours. Factoring in non-straight tracks, you're likely a fifth of the way there."

"Exactly, I checked too. You're in a wasteland. This is probably the Dongli Wasteland, southeast of Dongwu City."

"On another note, I did some quick calculations. This Dawn Federation has a diameter of over 80,000 kilometers, way bigger than Earth, but only has a population of 700 million. Why so few? Wouldn't closer cities make more sense for development?"

"Wow, that big? If even gold ranks can't reach other federations, how far apart are they?"

"And the steam trains connect these cities across such distances? Insane!"

"666."

Smiling at the flood of insights, Demacia typed a quick response: "Thanks, everyone! Fifteen minutes left until my respawn. Destiny calls!"

After catching a few more comments, he added, "Federation cities are spread out because wars could start any time. Have you noticed? The Federation's territory forms a near-perfect circle, with cities growing denser toward the center. The capital is at the core, surrounded by weaker cities, and then the cities get stronger as you move outward. This is to protect the center. Border cities, though isolated, are battle-ready. If invaded, the capital's forces can support them."

"And the design is strategic. If an enemy bypasses the border cities to strike deeper, they'd face tougher defenses in each layer. Attacking from both sides, they'd be forced into a pincer attack. The closer cities have better protection; you'd need a capital-level force to break through."

"Think of border cities as combat tests. Defeat one, and the Federation's interior is on alert, ready to rally for a long war. Fail to break the border? Advancing would be suicide."

The chat was impressed, and someone commented, "The logic in this game's world is insane."

Demacia laughed, replying, "Exactly! Every detail has been so thought-out."

Checking his respawn timer, Demacia typed, "Almost there! I'm ready to take off again."

Suddenly, he saw a comment: "Don't bother. Bai Yi's not here. I rushed ahead, but he's nowhere to be found."

"What?! No wonder they say not to stream during missions!" Demacia grumbled. "I thought it was just about distractions, but it's to prevent you copycats. Lucky for me, White Blight likes me more than you guys, haha!"

With the timer at zero, Demacia revived and summoned his Piranha Plant to retrieve his gear. As it lunged to bite him, he quickly dismissed it, sighing in relief, "Just a plant—let it do its thing!"

Entering the inner city, he reluctantly spent five gold coins on a genuine phone and called Wei Lv's contact. After a few rings, the line connected.

"Mr. Bai Yi, this is Demacia. There's trouble—a place called the Dark Kingdom is preparing to attack Dongwu City. They've set up a space teleportation array within the Federation!"

Bai Yi's voice was calm. "Understood. I'll be there shortly."

Proudly, Demacia announced to his viewers, "See? That's how it's done. White Blight favorability unlocks privileges like these. Without it, don't even think about bothering him."

Walking into the Dawn Pharmacy, he saw a small girl reading by a table with a star map and a crystal ball. She looked up, smiled sweetly, and asked, "Are you looking for someone?"

"Yes, Mr. White Blight. He told me to go straight to the lab," Demacia replied.

She gestured to a door. "It's over there."

Inside the lab, Demacia was awestruck. Floating around a young boy were thumb-sized black spheres forming intricate patterns—a tower, giant arms, even a Bagua formation. The sight was mesmerizing. The live chat exploded with "Wow!" and "Amazing!"

Bai Yi noticed his entrance and gestured to a newly-formed metal chair behind him. Taking a seat, Demacia couldn't resist examining it.

"Name: Magnetic Mechanical Body. Grade: Silver. Durability: 300/300. Effect: Micro-machines controllable via mental power."

Demacia was floored. It seemed like a high-level item that players could actually afford!

Bai Yi raised his hand, and Demacia's chair slid beside him. The micro-machines, much harder than standard alloys, were astonishingly inexpensive to produce.

After hearing Demacia's account of the Dark Kingdom's plan, Bai Yi's expression darkened. He summoned his bone dragon and launched them both toward Chaoyang City at supersonic speed.

As they flew, Demacia asked, "How fast are we going?"

"Mach five."

"Wow," Demacia breathed, impressed. The live chat was full of praise for alchemists.

They reached the wasteland quickly, and Bai Yi used his potions to reveal a hidden teleportation array. He then released mosquito-sized surveillance machines to keep watch, ensuring that any approaching forces would face severe consequences.

Returning to the dragon, Bai Yi said with a smile, "Your information was helpful. What reward would you like?"

Demacia hesitated, then asked, "Um, Mr. White Blight, do you have any knowledge of plant life?"
