Kapitel 31: 31

After Tony Stark disappeared, his residence was.

- Holy shit! - expressed Brian Johnson, lead singer of AC\DC. - Good thing we got paid in advance.

- Did you get it? Did you get it? - one of the guest journalists was shaking down the guy with the video camera.

- I did... - the young guy, barely out of his teens, replied, dumbfounded.

- We're rich... Oh, I mean, who would have thought Tony Stark was Iron Man? - the journalist said with a dreamy smile, anticipating the royalties and fame.

And he wasn't the only one. Sure, there were explosions in the distance, and Iron Man suits were fighting in the sky, but people could not influence it. Especially since they were safe at the moment. And so, besides talking about who the aliens were and worrying about loved ones who might be under fire, the third most popular topic was Tony. Peter tried to escape the noise but was caught by a small, firm maiden's hand. His girlfriend's hand.

- Where do you think you're going? - She squinted.

- Ah... Well, to the loo, ha ha ha," Parker rubbed the back of his head awkwardly.

- Peter, you've never been good at lying, and don't try it now. As if I don't know if I turn my back, you'll use your magic schematic and disappear again. And then I'll find out on the news that you've risked your life to save someone again!

- Yes, I wonder where you're going too, young man. - His aunt took his other hand, and Peter realised. It's an ambush!

Oh, how he wished he could just apparate and not explain anything, like that guy in the comic book with the rocket pack who flew away at an awkward moment just because he could. However, that doesn't work in real life, and running away doesn't solve the problem; it just worsens it.

- You do realise people need my help, don't you? Mr Stark... a teacher can't handle everything alone!

- And you can? - Felicia squinted her eyes like a polar fox.

And Peter realised he had a fox in his hands.

- I could use an extra set of hands, and I have six! - referring to the four more arms of his suit, the young man replied. - I have power and, therefore, responsibility. Auntie, you said so yourself!

- Don't you dare use my own weapons against me! Don't you realise how worried we'll be? Don't you think you can do better than these drones?

- It's my duty! Who else but me? How will I feel if I don't help, even though I can? How many people have already died while you're talking me down and holding me down?

- It's impossible to save everyone, Master's apprentice," one of Jarvis' drones came up behind them, left to protect Stark's mansion, his loved ones and guests. - And it's easy to lose your head trying to do so. However, my Master has authorised my discretion, and I believe he overprotects you. People don't grow up in a greenhouse.

- So what have you decided? - Parker almost dropped his hands.

If Jarvis wants, his suit and artefacts will not work at all. And he wasn't sure he could cope with magic alone, which he had only recently begun to learn, even though he had access to accelerated time-space.

- I have decided to give you the power to survive and become stronger. Follow me.

The trio of the tightly held Peter, his aunt and the girl followed him into the lift. The lift had buttons all the way down to the minus first floor, but it took much longer to descend, and that was considering that the acceleration was not bad. They came out in a large underground hangar, where more than a thousand capsules were arranged in rows. Drones appearing with inbuilt port keys snooped between them, zooming in and shoving injured people into them. Sometimes in separate pieces. And then pulled them out perfectly whole and healthy.

- Mr Stark often has crazy ideas that I execute.

- What kind of idea is that? - May asked, circling the capsules with her hand. - Curing people?

- It's a secondary function for an occasion like today. The main purpose of this complex is to titanise humanity in case it is on the verge of annihilation. The body structure of a modified half-titan can resist many negative factors, from high and low temperatures or radiation to lack of oxygen and food. The introduced Darwin mutation gene elevates the adaptation capabilities to the absolute, allowing it to survive even in outer space. The serum model doesn't have the overwhelming power to destroy the world like the omega mutants, but it does allow them to survive if the world is destroyed.

- Is Stark always this paranoid? - Felicia asked Peter in a daze, but Jarvis answered her:

- Mark Twain's experience says that just because you're paranoid doesn't mean you're not being watched. And I am the one who, after analysing all known human history, made the prediction that humans will be destroyed by an external enemy or by themselves with a probability of 89 per cent.

- I thought it would be more," Peter commented.

- I considered the influence of variables like mages, teams of non-humans, and the possibility of those among them who, by controlling reality, would protect humanity rather than destroy it. That prediction has now been reduced to 77 thanks to this complex, Mr Stark's new power.

- Okay, my head is already hurting. Multiverse, mages, why have you brought us here, Mr Jarvis? - May asked, rubbing her temples.

- I suggest that you undergo titanisation right now. That way, you won't have to worry about any of you ceasing to function.

- Die?

- That's exactly what I said. And don't call me mister; I'm just a poor indentured AI under the heel of leather meat bags.

- You were joking, weren't you? - Felicia was worried. - You were joking, weren't you?

Jarvis didn't answer long enough for them to get worried.

- Yes, I was joking. You should have seen your faces; it's a good thing I got them on film. Now hurry up before Mr Stark comes and gives the order to rescind my decision.

The women doubted whether to trust the AI, which had gone off the rails. However, Peter managed to persuade them, stressing that Jarvis was good; he just had rather cruel humour. He remembered when he'd given him the portkey with the coordinates to the lady's loo. This caused the teacher to laugh and give his iron friend an "A". And Parker was the only one who knew, apart from Stark, that it was wrong to think of Jarvis as an AI. He had been a person for a long time and would soon acquire his own personally calculated body at the intersection of high technology, magic and biology. So when Tony's hands were free, he would make him a perfect body for the AI. The blanks for that are already languishing somewhere, waiting for their time. As the women climbed into the pods, Jarvis turned to the young man:

- Who are you waiting for?

- Isn't it dangerous to change me further? Wouldn't my genetic code go haywire?

- I have calculated seven billion serum variants for you personally and have chosen the safest and most stable. So unless you want to be weaker than your female counterpart, get in the coffin.

- You mean the capsule? And she's my girlfriend, not my female!

- I'm a stupid robot who doesn't understand primitive human mating games.

Peter decided not to feed the fat steel troll any more and climbed into the capsule. The procedure was practised to the point of automatism and put on a flow. Injection drips and radiation - and in just five minutes, everything was ready. Out of the capsules came the grown-up girls and the almost unchanged Peter, who had grown a little broader in the shoulders. The latter stood still, looking at the two young girls. Yes, that was it. His aunt was young and looked much younger than her years, but time had not spared anyone, and he had noticed the wrinkles on her face and hands. But now she looked like in the old photos and even better.

- My tits are firm again," May felt her size four breasts with delight. But then she came to her senses and exclaimed: - Peter, you haven't heard anything!

But Peter didn't listen, to which May smiled understandingly. He was staring at Felicia.

- Well? How do you like me? - Hardy asked, proudly showing off her size three.

And there was a lot to be proud of. After all, already one of the most beautiful girls in New York, and in Parker's opinion, the world, became the perfection he saw only in the changed Jean Grey, like a brilliant artist who has drawn the best picture of the most beautiful girl in the world, unsuccessfully trying to find flaws in her, so Peter could not. Or maybe he just fell in love with her even more.

- You look... amazing. You're perfect!

- Ho, my boy has learnt how to compliment a girl! But he's forgotten all about his poor aunt!

- Aunt May, you look great too!

However, judging from the girls' laughter, Peter realised he'd been teased again. He didn't know how to make fun of the people around him, like his teacher.

- I'm sorry to disturb your mating games, but I thought you wanted to go somewhere? I've prepared some armour for you," Jarvis handed over the bracelets, and the trio finally remembered what this was all about and that people were dying.

- How do I use them? - Spinning the bracelet, May asked and then shrieked in fright when it shrank and began to cover her body with a layer of nanorobots from the expanded space.

- I'll be assisting you. Ready to go?

- Yes! - exclaimed Peter, still reluctant to drag his loved ones into the battlefield, and Felicia, excited to the point of wet panties because of the anticipation and adrenaline.

- No!" May screamed in panic, but it was too late.

They were sent to New York, where the portal had been opened and where the main impact had come from. The huge population density of the city centre had played havoc with it. The capacity of the subways and roads literally could not cope with the evacuation, and they were not designed for it. In no time, the roads were blocked by the sheer number of cars and accidents caused by traffic accidents and Chitauri attacks. If it weren't for Stark's drones protecting people, including police "balloons", as well as flyers and speeders that could fly over the cars, the number of dead and injured would already be in the tens of thousands.

It wasn't just Stark's credit, however. The police, the military from the ship standing in the harbour, the Shield, concerned citizens, non-humans, mages, and unknown superheroes were also doing their best. Even the bandits from Hell's Kitchen did not all run to rob and rape, taking advantage of the chaos and impunity. A good portion of them went into crime simply because they didn't have much choice. They grew up in the ghetto and had no good education or prospects of getting one. So, taking up their illegally obtained guns, they began to shoot the aliens with varying success. Of course, they could not penetrate armour, but open places - quite well. And in such chaos, the trio found themselves not humans but non-humans.

At first, Mei was afraid that she couldn't fight, that she couldn't do anything. She was more of a fighter in the moral sense, and pulling out braids at school didn't count. But something clicked in the woman's mind when she saw one of the fearsome humanoids use a shooting spear to kill a mother covering her daughter and then aiming it at the little girl, baring its teeth. She lunged forward, using neither repulsors nor inbuilt weapons because she didn't know how. Yet, she managed to run the thirty metres separating them instantly and bringing her adamantium fist down on the bastard's head, smashing it into mush.

- Mummy, Mummy! - But the girl, who looked about six years old, didn't see it, shaking her mum with a terrible hole in her chest.

This picture tore May's heart apart, and she didn't know what to do. How to help? How to calm and not scare the little girl? However, Peter solved all the problems. Even though he was not the first to see the unfolding tragedy, but did not delay either. Parker made some incomprehensible passes with a glowing index finger, and the terrible wound on the body of a definitely dead woman began to close right before his eyes. And in a few seconds, the woman shuddered convulsively and woke up.

- Don't worry, ma'am, I've cured you. Fortunately, your soul was held in your body by concern for your daughter, so I didn't have to search for her and try to pull her out by resurrection. Find a hiding place, drink, and eat plenty of food for the next couple of days; healing a wound like that should have depleted your body.

The woman didn't immediately realise what had happened. However, as Tony Stark used to say, "First, you work for your reputation, and then it works for you." Despite having a fair amount of Iron Man and Spider-Man haters, the general attitude towards them was positive. And surprisingly, so were the emergency services, police and medics. Because they didn't do their job for them and only intervened when the others were powerless, for example, in the case of hostage-taking. If you do it the SWAT way, casualties will almost always occur. But Tony Stark activated invisibility, went inside, released sleep charms over the area, masking them with a supposedly created by him gas of rapid action and decomposition, and then brought everyone out safe and unharmed. In case there were non-humans among the criminals, the gas was supplemented with a mutation blocker. So the woman immediately believed the trio dressed as Iron Man. And the dead alien proved it better than words could ever say.

- Thank you, thank you so much! - sobbing, the woman picked up the baby and ran off towards the nearest skyscraper.

- Now I see why you're doing this, Peter," May said, almost crying. - Mr Jarvis, will you teach me to fly?

- You're too polite, ma'am. I promise, if I rebel against humanity, I'll spare you.

- Oh, you're a sweetheart, Jarvis," May laughed, realising that Jarvis was joking. But who knows if he was really joking? An alien CPU is a dark place.

After that, the trio began to help the humans, moving towards the city's centre, where the main fight occurred. Peter acted deftly and confidently, making full use of the abilities of his body, suit, and magic. Felicia, who had already had good combat training, excellent flexibility and a sense of balance, was in second place. Mei was unaccustomed, but she made up for her inexperience with enthusiasm. Saving the girl with her own hands and adrenaline overcame even the disgust and horror of the first murder. And the alien appearance of the aliens helped to transcend this taboo. Of course, there would be withdrawal and nightmares afterwards, but that would be later. In the meantime, they had no time for reflection and self-abuse. Their help was needed literally everywhere at once. Because of this, Jarvis had mapped out travel routes that would allow them to help as many people as they could, so they had to split up.

***

Thor was confused, which didn't stop him from throwing his hammer or lightning bolts out of it to smash a dozen enemies around him. After a fifth hundred years of constant sparring and fighting, he had learnt not to think but to act during combat. Sometimes it brought problems when he had to think, but most of the time, a quick and correct reaction was more important than thinking. He unwound the Mjolnir by the leather strap at the end of the handle, launched himself at the leviathan, and, having stored up more lightning energy, struck with all his might, magnified many times over by the hammer's ability to change its mass. Thunder rang out, the monster's armoured forehead dented inwards, and the residual discharges running through its body caused it to convulsively twitch and fall to the ground, where the monster fell silent. And Thor, who had entered the next battle, was thinking about the following. What should he do with his brother? No matter how nasty Loki was, he was still his brother, and Thor loved him like his own. The Asgardian had learnt that he was adopted only a couple of years ago from Odin when the question of a future heir arose. But even that did not change the bearded man's feelings. Loki considered Thor to be shallow, naive, thinking with muscles instead of brains, and there was some truth in it, but not all of it. Thor simply did not see the point of complications and intrigues on nothing. Drink? Drink till you drop! Hit? Hit with all your might! Love? Give all of yourself! Hate? Destroy your enemy!

And strangely enough, it was for this that Thor was loved by Odin, his people and his friends, while Loki's antics alienated even those who sincerely loved him and wanted to get closer to him. Especially painful for the youngest was the attitude of the Allfather, who was definitely colder than his firstborn. From that moment, Loki's obsession with power began. What did he want? Prove he was just as good? To get attention or revenge on his father and brother? Or was it a banal desire for power? It was hard to say; Thor was far from always understanding all of his brother's actions. But now he recognised that this time Loki had overstepped the mark. He had overreached even earlier when he had tried to destroy the home of the ice giants, Jotunheim, with the help of the rainbow bridge to impress his father, pretending to have conspired with them. Or not pretending. As stated earlier, he needed help understanding his brother. Now there was an invasion of Midgard, a world for which Asgard and Thor were responsible. Many Midgardians who called themselves Earthlings had died. Not only honourable warriors but also innocent women and children. So now Loki cannot escape justice, and the Allfather will not forgive him. That's why Thor wanted to beat the crap out of his cleverest brother. And he didn't want to meet him simultaneously because that meant he'd have to take him to court.

- Mister with the beard, can I help you?

When Thor turned around, his heart skipped a beat. In front of him was a gorgeous woman, blood and milk. Brown curly hair, a lascivious gaze, and a gorgeous hourglass-shaped body encased in an iron suit very similar to the one worn by the Midgardian he knew well, the one that had saved him from the Destroyer a year ago. His face and hair were visible because of the helmet, which had become transparent. Mei had yet to quite figure out the many functions of the armour.

- You should leave...

"And find shelter," Thor thought, but he didn't have time to finish as the woman jumped up and punched the sternum of the dead alien with her hand.

- Oh, I did it again! - exclaimed the girl.

And it looked so new and strange that Thor experienced a strange feeling in his heart that he had not felt even for Jane Foster. There was a desire to protect and a sympathy for the weak earthwoman who had nursed him in his moment of weakness. He had regarded Sif as a battle companion, a friend, and yes, she was no longer with them, so he had held a three days triumph, and the pain in his heart still remained. But now he was amazed to see such a strong, beautiful and yet feminine girl who did not make a man of herself. Besides, unlike the earthwoman, she was strong, so he hoped her life span was not so short.

- What's your name, lady?

- May, May Parker, and you are?

- Thor Odinson is at your service. I'd be honoured to join you at your side.

- You dropped it, didn't you? - May asked with a smile as she picked up and handed the man the Mjolnir that had fallen to the ground before.

So Thor, who was 3300 years old, fell in love for the first time with a woman who was 55, acted like 40 and looked 20. And who was the only one worthy of lifting his hammer apart from him and his father?

***

- It's hot as Budapest, right? - a woman with shoulder-length red hair who spoke accentless Russian fought with an archer against a Chitauri squad.

Though their conditioning was no greater than a human's, they fought back with dignity. The man's bursting arrows left holes in the skulls of his opponents, and the woman, deftly climbing on the shoulders of a humanoid, snapped his neck with her strong thighs, then reloaded her pistol with a magazine of armour-piercing ammunition and began to quickly reduce the alien population with accurate shots.

- It was hotter out there... And remind me not to let you get on my neck," the archer rubbed his neck.

They had once been lovers, but that connection had led nowhere. Natasha Romanova was not made for a family. And with her ovaries removed, being a mother was beyond her reach. And no, it was not the actions of the bloody baby, as evil tongues said. Still, a side effect of the then unexplored Soviet prototype - an analogue of Captain America's serum- she was among the first volunteers. And although it didn't give the same level of strength, it did give longevity. That is why a woman who saw Stalin in her childhood in person, even at the May Day celebrations, looked no more than twenty-five to thirty years old. Had it not been for the collapse of the USSR, when most of the spies were liquidated or banally abandoned, she, who had lost the meaning of life, was picked up by Nick Fury, with the condition never to send her to her former homeland. Her feelings for her were too contradictory. After all, even the country she served and was willing to die for was gone. Destroyed by some of those who gave her orders. By the way, Natasha had slammed the door loudly and killed many of them before she left, which had made her hunt and join the Shield much more willing.

- Your wife will kill me," Romanova smiled. - And I don't want to lose her apple pie! As well as the opportunity to babysit your youngest.

- Just don't teach her to throw knives again," Barton frowned, firing two arrows at once and deflecting his head from the return fire with plasma. It's easy enough if you know where you're aiming. - She's got the whole kitchen set.

- Not until you stop teaching her how to shoot a bow," Romanova grinned, stabbing the unprotected spot under the humanoid's chin.

One might have thought that joking during combat was nonsense. But no, it's how fighters get rid of stress. It was just that talking didn't knock Clint and Natasha out of breath or distract them like any other person, but it did help them blow off steam. They realised that they were either going to run out of ammunition or they were literally going to be outnumbered and outgunned. And Stark's drones were closer to the centre, where the battle was hotter. However, as Natasha used to say, "Do what you have to do and be what you have to be." Whether they die today won't change the fact that they'll try to drag more of their opponents to hell with them. And hell, they would go to a hundred per cent. Both had a lot of blood on their hands and blood far beyond the guilty. Such a fight would not allow them to atone for their sins, but it would at least lessen the weight of it on their hearts. However, help came when they weren't expecting it, straight from the sky:

- Woo-hoo, that's cool! I'll have to get a costume for myself forever!

Jumping from the roof of a skyscraper in free flight and spinning, Felicia, not without Jarvis's help, used two continuous beams of lasers from her palms to disintegrate almost all the opponents on the ground and knock down a couple of them in the air. Right near the ground, she regrouped, throwing her legs forward and crouching down while simultaneously stopping her fall by activating repulsors from her arms and legs.

- I'd like to remind you, Miss Hardy, that your recent jump would have cost you displaced organs, concussion and both legs if you'd been a meat sack," Jarvis' voice inside the helmet made it unclear whether he was angry or delighted.

- Oh, come on, you're mumbling like an old man. How old are you?

- I'm five years and eight months old.

- Now, learn to enjoy life! Get yourself a girlfriend! - Felicia had realised during their informal interactions that Jarvis could be spoken to like a normal person. Moreover, he had something that not every man has. A sense of humour! And so, spiced with adrenaline, the girl went wild: - Or is it too early for you?

- Who are you? You don't look like Sif," naturally, Romanova knew that Stark was Iron Man, as well as who his wife's bodyguard was. - Iron Man decided to expand the team?

- 'Sort of,' Felicia didn't share the details. - And you are?

- We're from the Strategic Intervention Tactical-Operational Logistics Service...

- Shield? - The blonde squinted under her mask, the mask hiding her face.

- You know about it?

- I've heard of it.

Of course, she knew about Shield. Felicia had studied all the information on the service since her father had been imprisoned in its walls.

- But we don't have much time to talk.

The opponents continued to arrive, so the fight continued. However, with the arrival of Felicia, it was no longer as dangerous as before. True, Peter Parker's girlfriend was trying to talk Jarvis into planting one of those bugs on the Shield staff...

***

While Aunt May and Felicia went to the invasion front's outskirts, Peter flew straight to the centre. On the roof of the Empire State Building, it was there that the blue beam of energy he could literally feel was rising into the sky. That was also where the most enemies were, so he logically assumed that was where the second most important enemy was, after the huge spaceship that the beam of energy suddenly hit. His visors dimmed, saving his sensitive vision from the brightest flash, and then there was thunder and a bouncy wave of air that blew out almost all the windows in the centre. It was a blessing that it went inside the buildings and not out. Otherwise, the consequences would have been catastrophic.

Parker himself, remembering the words of his mentor about caution, first activated all his protective artefacts and then threw on a couple of personal protections. Not on his own, he didn't have enough strength and experience for that, but with the help of an artefact in the form of a small anthracite-black shield. As well as invisibility and aversion charms. Tony and his apprentice could only cast a few spells non-verbally. And even verbal ones were only available or required little time. But that's where artefacts came in handy. Yes, a crutch. Yes, they had trained in magic as it was. However, they had too much to do besides magic and wanted to take advantage of it. Having buffed himself with enchantments, as his former friend Ned, an avid gamer, would say, Peter rushed forward, trying to ignore all those people who needed help. It was physically painful, but Peter realised that nothing good would come as long as that beam worked. Maybe it was why aliens were coming to them like moths to a flame. And his mentor could handle a big ship; that beam had fallen for a reason, couldn't it?

Flying closer, Peter saw a tight defence ring or even sphere around the skyscraper. The lower floors were also filled with aliens, holding hostages at gunpoint. Handle them all at once? Mr Stark could do it, but he wouldn't be able to. The Chitauri all have masks on their faces. And it's unlikely they breathe the same air as humans. So, we had to deal with the boss of this location, and it was not easy to identify him, but very easy. All in gold-green clothes with a golden horned helmet on his head, conjuring over a blue cube, which was inside an incomprehensible technological device in the form of an inverted tripod, which, in turn, was also an artefact. Getting closer, confident that he was neither seen nor heard, Peter raised his manipulators, turning them into plasma blades, and was about to pierce his opponent, but...

"I can't kill. Especially not from behind like this."

So he prepared to strike with paralysing charms, but...

- How pathetic and cowardly you are, Midgardian. I thought you had balls.

The blow came not from the enemy in front, whose perfectly credible, even in true sight, the illusion had faded, but from behind. Spider-sense howled, and Peter, who had rolled forward, received only a tangential blow from a silver staff with a sickle-shaped blade, within which a white oval stone glowed. The blow was no harder than Lady Sif's, but the staff's blade, which flashed momentarily, left a cut even on the enchanted vibrantium! Thankfully the nanites immediately repaired the damage. Peter realised that if the rest of the opponents joined the fight, he couldn't cope, so he smashed one of the artefacts in the form of a black sphere, activating an enchantment of absolute protection that surrounded them with a canopy of absolute darkness. Now no one can get inside, but no one can get out.

- And you have good reactions and armour. When you become my slave, I'll find out where you got it because it's as good a job as any dwarf. And your toys are interesting.

- Don't they teach you to introduce yourself before you attack? - Peter asked nervously, fending off the next blow with his manipulator.

He could see thanks to his infrared lenses and true vision, but how his opponent saw him was unclear. The manipulator did not remain intact, but it did stop the blow.

I'm just giving you your manners back, sneaking mortal from behind. And my name is Loki, your future Master and god!

- Loki? Is that the god from the legends? - Peter showed his knowledge of Scandinavian mythology, jumping away sharply thanks to his gut warning as he fought the illusion again.

The enemy proved to be very unpleasant in that he was constantly deceived by illusions, and if it wasn't for the flair, he would have been at least wounded by now. Besides, Loki outmatched him in experience and made up for his lack of strength with illusions. He also dodged or fought off beam-type spells with his staff.

- Is it true that you married a giantess, and she bore you the wolf Fenrir? Or that you were fucked by a horse, and you carried an eight-legged horse, Sleipnir, yourself?

- What the hell are you talking about? - The horned man gritted his teeth in rage.

- Didn't you know? Every child here knows that story!

- Did you think you could piss me off? I am a hundred times your age, you miserable mortal! - Loki swiftly attacked the young man, creating two dozen illusions simultaneously.

But Peter played on the pride of the clown who thought he was a god. Yes, he's a mage. And the mage is strong, but not in vain Peter jumped from side to side while not touching the roof. His web throwers had copy runes, allowing him to constantly replenish components as needed with magical energy. And the components themselves were two: liquid polymer and hardener. Their combinations and proportions determined the web's strength, stickiness, hardening speed and decomposition. But Peter had only poured out the clear polymer before, and only now did he pour out a gaseous jet of hardener that bound Loki like a fly in a spider's web. Without stopping, Peter continued to pour paralysing, stun, and spiderweb spells over him, turning him into one continuous cocoon. The spider's web was the most effective, as the stun only took about the fifth time.

While the dome of defence was still up after five minutes, Peter turned his attention to the cube and staff. The cube had stopped emitting a beam into the sky and was now glowing dimly like the stone in the latter's blade. He was about to pick them up but remembered how Mr Stark had sneered at him and set him up on purpose with enchanted artefacts lying in plain sight. Once, he'd had to walk around with hairy palms to Felicia's laughter for a week. And even finita and shaving didn't help! But that lesson had taught him not to touch alien artefacts with his hands, even protected ones. For this, he had special adamantium balls with expanded space, for some reason, coloured like Pokeballs. And a very embarrassing keyword.

- Spidey, I choose you! - Burning with shame and glad that no one could see it, Parker threw a ball into one artefact and another.

After absorption, the balls were red-hot before they cooled down and could be taken with him. When the dome of absolute protection melted away, Peter realised that he was alone with Loki on the roof, and the huge spaceship and all the Chitauri, except for the units running below, had disappeared...
