VANCE’S POV

“Killian, go back.” I pushed him away as we stood in the private hangar that held Killian's jet as I prepared to leave for Washington DC before sunrise.

“Get on the plane,” Killian huffed while refusing to let go of my hand.

“Don’t be a menace and go back,” I scolded him.

“I have a bad feeling about this trip, Vance. I wish I could accompany you, but the mafia family's security is paramount and demands that I be in New York.”

“I understand Killian,” I assured him. “I will be safe. I promise.”

“You can't promise your safety when you are far away from me,” he snapped.

I huffed and turned to leave, but he pulled me into a back bear hug. “Darling,” he whispered.

“I know.” I patted his arm. “I will be back sooner than you know.”

The captain walked over to the spot we were standing and cleared his throat. Killian’s eyes blazed at him and he took a step back in fear.

“Ready for take-off?” I asked him.

“Yes, sir.” He nodded, turned, and left.
