Rosa let heaps of disappointment show on her face. "I regret that I have not yet earned the princess's trust."

"You misunderstand!" Eveline's eyes welled up again. "It's not a matter of trust at all, but a matter of keeping you safe at all times."

Look who's talking about keeping me safe! Rosa placed a hand on her forehead to cover her angry eyes. "This is a personal matter for me," she glanced at Kael noting how he was fully leaning towards them and placing all his attention on the conversation. It was fine with Rosa since the princess would surely tell him about the offer she received anyhow.

Her eyes found Eveline and lingered on her face, "... If Your Highness won't give me cover to investigate and maintain a clean Highmore name, then I will have no other option but to make up an excuse and go to Vordania on my own."
