Kapitel 4: Chapter 4: Ninja Tool Throwing

That night.

In his room, Qingming finished refining his chakra once again, opening his eyes with clear signs of fatigue. Despite his exhaustion, he pushed himself to stay focused, using his recently recovered chakra to perform one of the Three Basic Techniques: the Clone Technique.

Unlike before, his movements had noticeably improved, and he could now complete the hand seals in under five seconds. This was the school's minimum requirement for passing the technique. However, just being able to perform the seals wasn't enough.

The reason? The key to executing ninjutsu wasn't just about forming the hand seals. It was about synchronizing the chakra and controlling it while making the seals. The seals were merely a tool to guide this process. With enough practice, a skilled ninja could reduce the number of seals needed, or even perform techniques with just one hand.

Of course, these advanced techniques were still far beyond Qingming's reach. Right now, he couldn't even fully master the Clone Technique, let alone attempt anything more complicated.

You need to learn how to walk before you can run.

Poof!

A puff of chakra smoke dispersed, revealing a distorted figure that somewhat resembled Qingming but was still a far cry from an accurate clone. He glanced at it with a blank expression before immediately dispelling the jutsu.

After closing his eyes to gather his thoughts, Qingming gathered chakra again and formed the necessary seals. Five seconds later, another puff of chakra smoke appeared, producing another distorted figure.

This process repeated five times until Qingming had exhausted all his chakra, forcing him to stop.

Taking a deep breath, he summoned the familiar sight of his status panel in his mind.

[Name]: Uchiha Qingming

[Age]: 10

[Physical Strength]: 5

[Mental Strength]: 7

[Chakra]: 11 (131)

[Bloodline]: Sharingan (Not yet awakened, 51/100)

[Skills]:

Chakra Refinement Technique: Level 0 (8/100)Clone Technique: Level 0 (46/100)Basic Taijutsu: Level 0 (35/100)

That night, Qingming had refined his chakra for four hours, increasing his total chakra capacity by 4 points, from 127 to 131. During this time, he recovered a total of 200 points of chakra, with each use of the Clone Technique consuming roughly 20 points.

In total, he practiced the Clone Technique ten times that night. Thanks to the memories and experience left by his previous self, he gained 2-3 points of skill proficiency with each attempt. For instance, that night alone, he gained 27 points of proficiency, bringing his total up to 46, more than halfway to fully mastering the technique.

Additionally, his Chakra Refinement Technique had also benefited from his predecessor's experience, increasing by 6 points of proficiency instead of the expected 4. Based on these results, if he continued refining his chakra for four hours each day, Qingming estimated that he could master the technique within two weeks. Once that happened, he would be able to refine his chakra more efficiently, which would help alleviate his current chakra shortage.

After that, the pace at which he improved his other skills would accelerate as well. Over time, his rate of improvement would grow faster and faster.

But for now... slow and steady.

He briefly entertained the thought of pushing his limits by training for longer hours each day, forcing himself to master the Chakra Refinement Technique faster, but quickly dismissed the idea. Even if he managed to increase his strength before the upcoming graduation, what could he really achieve? At best, he'd reach the level of a Genin or maybe a Chunin—he wasn't going to become a Jonin overnight.

And even if he did reach Jonin level, what difference would it make? In the midst of a war engulfing the entire ninja world, even a Jonin's influence was limited. He wouldn't be able to change the tide of any significant battles.

So why bother with all that effort?

Plus, he was an outsider in this world. Rapidly increasing his strength would only draw unnecessary attention to himself, which might lead to someone discovering his secret. Given these risks, it made more sense to progress steadily at a natural pace.

Shaking his head to clear these thoughts, Qingming stopped overthinking. He left his practice room and returned to his bedroom, where he lay down and gazed at the moon outside his window until he fell asleep.

The next day.

Afternoon.

On the same training field, Qingming and the other students were lined up for their lesson. Today, however, their teacher Sugi Takeshi didn't ask them to spar with each other. Instead, they were practicing throwing kunai and shuriken.

Just like hand-to-hand combat, these two skills were essential for any Genin. Along with the Three Basic Techniques, they formed the core toolkit of every low-ranking ninja, the basic qualifications for becoming cannon fodder on the battlefield.

As for other ninjutsu? Forget about it.

Take Uchiha Qingming for example. His talent was considered ordinary compared to his peers from ninja clans, but when compared to the average civilian student, his abilities were already quite impressive. If Qingming had never crossed over into this world, his original self would have graduated with just enough chakra to perform a few basic jutsu.

If that was his case, the other civilian students were in even worse shape. For them, learning advanced techniques would just be a waste of time.

That's why the school didn't bother teaching anything beyond the basics. Students with potential often had family traditions to rely on. Those without family backgrounds but with potential were usually assigned to strong Jonin mentors after graduation. There was no need for the school to handle that level of training.

Besides, this year's batch of students was likely to graduate early due to the war. Their abilities would already be weaker compared to previous years. No need to waste time teaching them advanced techniques.

Thud!

A kunai flew through the air, striking a target five meters away.

Qingming let out a long breath of relief. If he missed the target again, he didn't know how he'd handle it.

Since practice began, Sugi Takeshi had been watching him closely, just like he had during yesterday's sparring session with Moriki. Qingming knew his recent performance had been inconsistent compared to his past self, and he had already prepared a few excuses in case the teacher asked.

To his surprise, Sugi Takeshi hadn't said a word. It was as if he didn't care about Qingming at all.

Qingming didn't know whether to feel relieved or disappointed.

"Status!"

He opened his proficiency panel.

[Name]: Uchiha Qingming

[Age]: 10

[Physical Strength]: 5

[Mental Strength]: 7

[Chakra]: 44 (131)

[Bloodline]: Sharingan (Not yet awakened, 51/100)

[Skills]:

Chakra Refinement Technique: Level 0 (8/100)Clone Technique: Level 0 (46/100)Basic Taijutsu: Level 0 (35/100)Ninja Tool Throwing: Level 0 (1/100)

As expected, after his successful kunai throw, a new skill had appeared on his panel—Ninja Tool Throwing: Level 0 (1/100). Riding the momentum, Qingming threw another kunai.

Thud! The kunai barely hit the target.

His proficiency in Ninja Tool Throwing increased to 2/100.

Seeing this, Qingming's eyes lit up. This might be the first skill he would master. The reason was simple: practicing Ninja Tool Throwing didn't consume chakra. As long as his proficiency hadn't reached his former self's level, he could accumulate experience quickly and reach mastery.

But...

Qingming glanced over at Sugi Takeshi in the distance and thought to himself, "Will he notice anything unusual?"

With that concern in mind, Qingming retrieved the kunai and shuriken he had thrown, then moved to the 10-meter targets to practice more seriously. Despite the experience he had gained, he still missed the target several times.

This slowed down his rate of proficiency accumulation, but it was necessary.

Why? Because Qingming's former self had also missed targets while practicing at this distance. Although Qingming was missing more often now, it was still within a reasonable range compared to his performance at the 5-meter targets.

Given a little more time, Qingming believed he could quickly raise his proficiency level, and once he did, he wouldn't have to worry about revealing any suspicious behavior.
