Zusammenfassung
In a world where pain births power and shadows linger in every corner of the soul, Kai Zharun is a man consumed by heartbreak and haunted by vengeance. Once a scholar with dreams of peace, Kai’s life fractures when those he holds dear are ripped away, leaving behind only anguish—and the awakening of his Latifa, Nosh, a force forged from despair itself.
But power born of agony is no gift. With each step forward, Kai feels the pieces of his humanity slipping away. Joy fades to ash, love crumbles into emptiness, and what remains is a gnawing hunger for retribution. As his emotions sever one by one, Kai’s journey becomes less about saving what he has lost and more about understanding the price of survival in a world ruled by shadows.
In the unforgiving lands of Latifas and Nafs, where the strongest rise on the backs of their pain and the weakest are consumed by it, Kai battles not only the enemies around him but the war within his soul. His path is steeped in sacrifice, his strength born of suffering—but how much can a man endure before he becomes the very shadow he seeks to escape?
Shadows of Severance is a visceral, heart-wrenching tale of power, loss, and the devastating cost of carrying the weight of vengeance. As Kai spirals deeper into the darkness, the question remains: What is left of a man when the heart is stripped bare—and how far will he go to reclaim the pieces of himself?

Schreiben Sie eine RezensionReview so far: Now, it may seem like the chapter count is low, but the word count is definitely not. Like, each chapter is like the size of 2-3 regular ones on Webnovel, so realistically there is like 20-30 chapter in content. Writing Quality: Definetely Amazing. The writer is seasoned and has little mistakes. I find some parts to be more western in style then eastern, like in terms of metaphors, but that’s still fresh on this website. Update Stability: So far it’s like 1-2 Chapters a day, and with the word count, it’s like 5 a day so, 5/5 for me. Story Development: So far, there is still a lot of unknown information. Like what was Kais exact rank? What are scholars exactly? But, the recent chapter did an amazing job at introducing many characters, and the dialogue really helps with story development. Like i can tell what’s going on, and despite the mystery of so many things, it’s not like i’m annoyed. It’s more like I’m on the edge of my seat wanting to know what is going on. I’m accustomed to info dumps so this is a little different, but not many complaints since the pacing is nice. 4.5/5 Character Design: I feel the characters all have a persoanlity and aren’t just simply 2D. Like they are all dynamic and aren’t one track. Leon is a breath of fresh air, especially recently. Like, i love the way he is portrayed and shown as not annoying but simply young. Kai is still being fleshed but he shows various emotions and thoughts which is great. Simply splendid work on this. World Background: Fantastic. Like just the back story and the different worlds mentioned and the people in it, very cool. I like how it’s not a simple “Here is all the knowledge in the world, but it’s not a lot” rather it’s a true discovery. Readers learn as the MC learns, they don’t learn stuff before and know everything. Always felt that took away from the story. Overall; amazing story. A gem akin to many top reads. I like how the POV is highly based on the MC and the plots moves with the MC rather then everything seemingly planned. It’s flows naturally, just like real life. Amazing so far.
This author has pretty good writing quality and updating stability, along with pretty consistent characters that are being developed well. There’s a lot of world building going on that I am finding a bit hard to follow because of a lot of new vocabulary. It’s starting to make sense after all these chapters, but it could have been done differently in the beginning to make it easier to understand all the terminology. The story also doesn’t really get very engaging until after chapter 12. Interesting concept though, so I’m looking forward to reading more chapters and seeing what the author does with this.
Here is my review of about Shadow of Severance: Worldbuilding: I think the worldbuilding is quite okay with the Zhull and the magic setting. However, I suggest to expand more detail the threat of Zhull and its mystery further which can make this book more intriguing. Characters; For me all the characters are quite fleshed out. Kai is a protagonist is interesting as he is a scholar and a good brother for his siblings. The Family dynamic between the characters are good so far. Plot: Well the pacing is quite slow, but I think its intentional for creating a solid build up. Overall, this is one interesting fantasy book and recommended.
Spoiler enthüllenSo far, it's been a sweet, diabetic story. I feel like the synopsis said otherwise. Is something daunting going to happen soon?! Should I prepare my heart for this? The story attract the readers to dive deep further! Captivating story and interesting power system! Chars r likable and so real so life-like. Very creative with names and stuff, too! Verdict: Recommend!
Incredibly engaging… couldnt put the book down. The author really focused on developing the characters . 10/10. Its not a hard read and awesome for young adults!
I really love the fact this author uses anime almost as an inspiration. first attack on titan and now Bleach? this really gives me bleach vibes, if bleach was darker. the first book had a light hearted start, but holy, the end of the first part!!! crazyyyyyyy.
Nahlia be giving me sus vibes throughout the book. Something about Kai is interesting but his power is confusing to me. Like what is with his power. This whole book reminds me of Bleach with the divisions being like the court guard sqauds etc.
Really good book. I love the way it builds up slowly and suddenly goes ham at the end. Really cool. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Fantastic!! I would say this has writing that is definitely much more advanced than even the upper tier books on this website. This book is definitely a complex one but also so intriguing. The world building, the switch between POVs, and so much more was done so amazingly. The author mentions his dive into the human psyche and honestly, it’s done very well. Very realistic reactions to various actions. Really good so far, a gem. Book 1 though seems short was actually extremely long. chapters are long which is amazing.

As it seems to be a tradition to introduce one's book with a self-review, I shall not be left behind. Let me begin by saying, I am no stranger to writing, nor to this platform. Over the years, I’ve crafted many stories—some that found their audience and others that quietly faded into the background. This book, however, marks a new beginning. A fresh start on this platform with a story that is deeply personal and profoundly meaningful to me. It is a reflection of my own experiences, to an extent, and an exploration of something I’ve come to understand on a very human level: emotion. Emotion is a complex and elusive subject—something one can never truly grasp in its entirety. Even when we experience something deeply, our perspective is uniquely our own, shaped by the infinite variables of our lives. This book seeks to explore just one path among the countless possibilities. But fear not! While emotional growth and introspection form the heart of this story, there will still be action, adventure, and intrigue. These elements are just as integral to my storytelling as the emotional core, and I wouldn’t dream of leaving them behind. Writing, after all, is an art meant to be explored and experimented with. This journey will be different. Through action, adventure, romance—or perhaps the absence of it—I aim to offer a narrative shaped by my own perspective and experiences. So, sit back, immerse yourself, and join me on this journey.
