 "….."

Jin looked at Igris kneeling before him and scratched the side of his head. "Uhm, hey man, can't you stop doing that?" Of course, Igris and his gravely-lowered head didn't reply.

"Because of you…." Jin's gaze slowly shifted over to Iron Buster, Zelos, Gorr, Akame, and all the other soldiers of the shadow army.

"We're doing the same thing." Nobody could tell exactly when they did it, but they had cut the demons' heads off and dragged them all the way to Jin before kneeling on the ground. "…Everyone is starting to imitate you, you know."

More importantly, they were doing the same while also collecting the loot. Jin spat out a long groan while keeping his stare fixed on Iron. While he was thinking of something else.

What good timing it was, since he spotted the magic soldiers slowly walking behind the regular infantrymen. They were far slower compared to normal shadow soldiers, never mind the two knights.

Jin summoned the first of the three magic soldiers to arrive in the vicinity. When he beckoned with his hand, the magic soldier decked out in the black robe hurriedly walked towards him. '…Maybe I should go there myself.'

Jin lightly shook his head and took large strides towards the magic soldier before handing over the Bead of Avarice. And then, he pointed at the remnant of the building that was burning just like the whole city.

Since all shadow soldiers could be controlled via his will, he didn't really need to issue any particular commands here. Jin simply gave the signal. "Fire."

Right at that moment, a ball of flames that was double the size of the usual attack suddenly materialized at the tip of the magic soldier's raised hand. 'Heok?!' Jin had a mildly surprised look. Without giving him enough time to get shocked, the ball of flames quickly flew out from the magic soldier's hand.

Swooooosh–!! KWABOOM!! "Huh?!" Jin was amused to look at that. The building was swept up in the grand explosion and collapsed like a house of cards. And the ferocity of the burning flames didn't show any signs of weakening at all afterward.

Jin stared in wonder at the roaring flames, before he hurriedly took the Bead of Avarice back from the magic soldier. He then quickly checked the item information once more. 'It's not there. It's definitely not there.' He went through the explanation several times to make sure, but without a doubt, there was nothing about him being prevented from lending this 'Bead of Avarice' to someone else.

"Let's see how this damage will work in a different case." Jin said after a deep analysis of the 'Bead of Avarice'.

"Create Water."

As Jin uttered these words, a big ball of water materialized in front of him.

"Nothing different, same size and shape." As Jin poked his finger inside and pulled it out before licking his finger, he said, "Same taste and density."

"Nothing has changed." "Water Ball," Jin said as a small ball of water fired from his hand, destroying a chunk of concrete.

"So it was twice the damage." Jin said as he turned to look at Lubbock, who had many middle and low-rank demons tied in pitch black.

The demons were completely immobilized, so much so that thin pitch-black threads ran through the insides of their bodies. With a single movement of his finger, he could kill them.

"Okay, now bring them here," Jin commanded, and Lubbock followed his lord's command, dragging them to him. Standing in front of a mid-rank demon who was still restrained by the black threads of Cross Tail.

"Healing Light," Jin spoke, and a white aura engulfed the demon's body. The demon started to scream as he was in extreme pain, and once the spell ended, the glow died down.

We saw that the demon's very skin was peeled off with 4° burns all over his body, as he wasn't alive. But the horrified expressions on him told that he died after experiencing some gruesome pain.

"Mmm, as I thought, the healing spell turned into a weapon and did twice as much damage."

In this world, demons and creatures like them, like undead, won't be healed by simple healing. Quite the opposite, they will receive damage from it. When exposed to the kind of healing-type spell that uses Positive Energy, Demons can end up being the one who sustains the damage instead of the heal.

Because the heal spell turned into a damage spell, it did twice as much damage than it should be doing. Soon the body was replaced by another demon with numerous wounds on its body. "True Dark."

As Jin spoke, a pillar of darkness struck the demon's body, and once it ended, the wounds on the demon were nowhere to be seen, and the demon was completely healed.

"As I thought, there wasn't any boost this time. The triggered word is 'damage,' and as long as any of my attacks damage the target, its damage gets boosted."

"Now I wonder how an instant kill spell will work if I am holding this. Like the spell Grasp Heart, it's going to kill no matter what. But will it get boosted? If so, what will it boost, after all, it's doing damage? Will the effectiveness get a boost? Will the chances of passing through resistance get boosted? And what if I put a human and a demon in the same place and then used healing spells? Will they get rapidly damaged or rapidly healed?"

Whatever the case is, it's a great item that could be used in different ways. For the next hour, I continued my experiments, trying to find where the limit lies, trying to find where I could draw the line.

Gulp.

Jin swallowed his dry saliva, before his gaze shifted back to the huge meteor that he casted. It was twice the size of what he wanted. Now, as far as he can see, everything around him crumbled away, nothing that could identify this was a city left behind.

Rumble! Crackle!!

Yet another part of the city issued a loud rumble and collapsed to the ground. Seeing that, the corners of Jin's lips began quivering uncontrollably. 'Well now. This is…' Now this is going to be my first used item and would definitely be very helpful in saving my mana.

His previous wistful look was long gone by now, replaced by the expression of anticipation slowly filling up his face.

In the middle of a sunny afternoon. "The young man from apartment 902, you say?"

An auntie tilted her head and replied a short while later.

"Hmm, I'm not sure. I haven't seen them lately. But if I'm not wrong, then they have already moved away."

"Ah, is that so? Thank you for your help." Hyun Ki-Cheol lowered his head and expressed his gratitude. It had been three days since he began waiting for Hunter Sung Jin-Woo near the youth's old apartment building. However, he hadn't run into his target until now. In fact, he hadn't even run into his sister.

At this point, Hyun Ki-Cheol was beginning to feel that making veggie juice every morning was a bit of a waste. If that lady is right and Jin-Woo had moved away, then it's really a waste of time. He let out a helpless sigh and pulled his phone out.

Ring... ring...

Shortly afterwards, the recipient answered the call.

– "I'm here, Ki-Cheol."

"Section Chief."

The recipient was, of course, Section Chief Ah Sahng-Min.

"Sung Jin-Woo Hunter-nim is nowhere to be seen. Residents of the building say they haven't seen him lately, either. And some say he had resettled."

– "Really?"

"Yes, sir."

– "It can't be helped then. From tomorrow onwards, come back to the office."

"Understood."

Click.

Ahn Sahng-Min ended the call and tilted his head. Just where did Hunter Sung Jin-Woo move to?

He hadn't registered his new address, and even if he did, the Association seems hell-bent on protecting all things related to Sung Jin-Woo.

No one could contact him for the past few days now. Wondering if he was avoiding phone calls for the time being, Ahn Sahng-Min had dispatched Hyun Ki-Cheol to where Sung Jin-Woo lived, but the news wasn't good.

No one had seen the young Hunter for a while. And if he relocated, then they aren't aware of Jin-Woo's new address. And even if they did, they would meet an icy cold person who doesn't like having guests.

Ahn Sahng-Min couldn't help but wonder if something strange had happened.

'I can't figure out why I should be worried about him, though.'

In any case, this kind of feels rather weird to him.

Tap, tap.

Someone tapped him on the shoulder, and when he turned around to look, he found Hunter Park Hui-Jin standing by his side. She opened her mouth first.

"Apparently, it's true they have moved away, and he told his little sister that he'd be going on a trip with his friend for a week or so."

"How do you know that?" Sahng-Min asked.

"Well, you know the girl Jin-Woo Hunter-nim brought with himself? I contacted her, and it turns out she was the best friend of his sister, and she told me all this," said Park Hui-Jin, explaining herself.

"You mean, Sung Jin-Woo Hunter-nim said that?"

"Yes."

"In that case... he's probably not on Earth anymore."

"Pardon?"

Park Hui-Jin's eyes opened wide. Ahn Sahng-Min quickly explained himself.

"We haven't found any evidence of him going overseas. And there is no record of him withdrawing money from his bank or using his credit card, either. Even if he hardly does that these days."

"You can even find out things like that?"

"Well, it's our job to follow around various Hunters, after all."

"….Oh, my god."

"Anyways. On top of this, according to the Association's last-known location records, communication with his phone was cut off in the middle of the city, as well. And that happened about approximately three days ago. Doesn't all this sound too mysterious to you?"

"He couldn't have been kidnapped, right?"

Park Hui-Jin inadvertently voiced her worry in the ensuing confusion. However, the gazes of the two people soon met, and they began chuckling almost at the same time. It was hard to tell who started first.

Seriously now. Just who was Sung Jin-Woo?

He was none other than a Hunter who soloed a high-ranking dungeon. Not only that, a Red Gate, to boot, in fact, he played there.

Ahn Sahng-Min scratched his cheek and spoke up.

"If you want to kidnap Sung Jin-Woo Hunter-nim, well, you'd need at least the rumored Chinese special forces to show up. You know, the one supposedly made up entirely of high-ranking Hunters."

Park Hui-Jin nodded her head in agreement.

Ahn Sahng-Min continued to grin, but then, found something rather odd and asked her.

"By the way, did you find his new address?"

"Ah, no. It turns out she was closely shut in and told not to tell anyone her new address. It's from Hahn Song-Yi. I talk to her often, you see.

She goes to the same school as Mister Sung Jin-Woo's little sister, so I asked her for a favor. So if you like, we can meet her and ask her directly. Maybe we can find out something about this rumored Ice Empress and if they are together or not,"

said Park Hui-Jin, totally getting interested in the rumored relationship between the two new S-Rankers, while with some jealousy on her face.

"Aha…."

With Ahn Sahng-Min's reply, their conversation came to an abrupt end.

And then, they began thinking the exact same thing.

'Just where did that guy disappear to? And should they meet his sister?'

******

'The upper floors are altogether on a different level, aren't they?' Jin began recalling the first – and so far, the only – boss-level monster he had encountered since he set foot inside the Demon's Castle, Vulcan.

Here's the improved version of the text with added spacing:

"That guy's title was 'The Sovereign of the Lower Floors'.

As soon as he went past the fiftieth floor that demon resided in, the difficulty curve suddenly spiked up.

Before this, he'd climb up over 20 floors in a day. As much as 30, even. But his clearing speed had decreased so much that he found it hard to even clear 10 or 15 floors in a day now.

As not just that the strength of demons grew up but the number of demons suddenly spiked up but also the land he now had to cover grew even wider as the size of each floor grew up like nobody's business.

So now his soldiers and he had to travel to a much bigger area, they were forced to split up into even smaller groups if they wanted to keep their speed up.

Even then, it was much slower and his mana-draining speed also increased, as any soldiers weaker than A-rank were getting destroyed by a huge number of demons multiple times.

Still, it was just a scratch on Jin's huge mana pool as it was still recovering faster than being depleted.

He was currently standing on the 74th floor.

The High-Ranked Demons now appeared as regular mobs now, and along with the infrequently-spotted Superior Demons, these two types of monsters displayed sizes and abilities that were worlds apart from those found on the lower floors.

Stab!

A High-Ranked Demon the size of a two-story building slowly collapsed on the ground with a dagger stuck in its chest.

SLAM!

[You have defeated a High-Ranked Demon.]

[You have earned 1,785 experience points.]

[You have acquired (1) Soul of Demons.]

Jin pulled the 'Baruka's Dagger' out from the dead demon's chest using the ruler's hand.

This one was the last. Yet another battle had come to an end. The victorious shadow soldiers crowded around Jin as well.

Jin surveyed their conditions.

There was no way that this was true for an undead army, but for some reason, he thought they all kind of looked exhausted.

Especially the weakest soldiers, even those all of them got the promotion and reached a higher class, they still looked out of shape.

Of course, the higher ranks, it was just a mild inconvenience. And at the highest ranks, it was just a walk in the park, as with single swings of weapons, demons died like flies.

But indeed, that was how strong the monsters had been on the upper floors.

Actually, this last battle happened to be on the easier side, simply because no Superior Demons were on this floor—not that there weren't any.

there were many Superior Demons, but they weren't in groups. The ones encountered by the highest rank shadow soldiers turned into a massacre.

As Zelos Gold and Gorr together cut through them like they were fish out of water.

The second group encountered Guardian and Akame and their platoon and again they were either cut down or blew up faster than their eyes could see.

'Each one of those guys is on the level of an A-rank boss of a dungeon.'

This wasn't some random guess he just cooked up without any evidence, either.
