Kapitel 73: Lin vs Calamity Being 2
Trees fell, and dust erupted as Lin was sent flying after blocking a punch from the Calamity Being. The Calamity Being relentlessly attacked Lin, who could only defend himself. Due to the Calamity Being's larger size and thicker skin, he was not affected by the lightning surrounding Lin as much.
Lin kept evading and blocking when possible, but each time he blocked, he was sent flying. "What the hell is that? A skill? He did mention something about Calamity Rage… Is it a skill that uses one's rage as fuel to increase their strength?" Lin wondered as he evaded an attack.
"I'm already losing strength, and my arms are becoming numb due to the shock from the constant blocking. If this keeps up, I might lose. Time to step up my game. Instead of blocking, I will try redirecting the attacks."
Lin carefully observed the raging beast's patterns as he spun his spear wildly. Though he couldn't find any opening to attack, he was determined to create an opening himself. The Calamity Being's attacks were precise. Every attack from its dagger was aimed at an organ. If Lin made a single mistake, it could cost his life.
"I'm supposed to be at an advantage since I am using a spear, so how is he pushing me back? Are my spear techniques that bad?" Lin gritted his teeth and pushed harder, but ultimately, the dagger reached his throat, ready to slash him. Death glared at Lin and momentarily, a memory flashed before his eyes.
Facing his death, a voice called to him, "You are your spear, and your spear is you." Along with it, images of spear techniques appeared in his head, and his body instinctively reacted. A loud clanging sound resounded as the dagger struck his spear.
The Calamity Being retreated as he noticed something off about Lin. Lin's spear dropped as his body slightly shook.
"What was that just now?" Lin wondered. "Are those the memories planted? No, I don't think so. The way my body reacted naturally, it felt like I was already accustomed to that movement. Then, a memory lost due to the implant?" Lin couldn't understand what was transpiring, but he knew that wasn't the time to dwell on it.
Lin picked up the spear, and in that moment, it felt like he had held a spear his whole life, though it hadn't even been up to a year since his elemental abilities were awakened.
"Why does that human suddenly feel different. I could swear I almost cut off his head, but something changed in that short time. Should I finish him off?" The Calamity Being hesitated. He knew rushing in might not be a good idea.
Without hesitating, Lin took the initiative and attacked first. Unlike before, his moves were now more polished and refined. He also made fewer unnecessary movements than he used to make. Seeing Lin's spear thrusting towards his heart, he blocked and backed away.
Lin moved the spear with such grace he looked like a grandmaster, though he was far from one. His constant attack made the Calamity Being realise how familiar it was. His eyes widened as he yelled, "No way!"
Lin paused and chuckled, "It was about time you noticed." He sneered. "You…y-you copied my skill and applied it to a spear?" the Calamity Being was speechless. I had never met someone who could copy a skill related to a different weapon and apply it to his own."
"Bingo, once I understand the essence of a skill, I can copy it, but that's not all. Let me show you a little something", Lin said and stepped towards the Calamity Being, who instinctively retreated. "Argh!" he yelled as blood flowed from its shoulder. A bloodied spear protruded from its shoulder with Lin behind him. The calamity Being's power erupted, throwing Lin backwards.
"What! When did he get behind me?" the Calamity Being gritted his teeth and pulled away from Lin. He held his shoulder and glared at Lin. Though he didn't make it obvious, Lin was using the quantum streak tablet to teleport as he attacked the Calamity Being, making it look like he had copied his skill. "Not yet!" Lin said mockingly and cackled, "Another one is coming".
He took a step and disappeared, alarming the calamity being who turned back to block, but this time, the attack came from the side. Lin pierced his side, and the spear appeared at the other end. He released jolts of lightning into the calamity Being. "Argh!" he yelled with its head raised and suddenly whispered a faint, "No". Above him were thick clouds with black lightning jumping between them.
"I will send whoever sent you your way in the future, so, you can go wait for them in peace, in hell." He clenched his hands, bringing down lightning like a pillar, which struck the Calamity Being and charred his body. Lin pulled out the spear, and the Calamity Being dropped to the floor like a lump of wood, motionless.
Lin sighed and suddenly staggered as his body ached all over. He fell to the ground, writhing in pain. "Looks like I overexerted myself. I didn't realise before, but, the lower my biasing aura, the lesser the power I can output. This is a pain." Lin passed out as he was drained and exhausted.
