Chairman Niall stood before Lin, whose eyelids were fluttering. "Whether you remain alive or die here now depends on the answers you will give me. Who are you?" he asked. Though his question seemed natural, Lin felt an aura envelope, compelling him to answer. The more he resisted, the more severe the pain he felt.
He gritted his teeth so hard his gums started bleeding. "Am I going to die here like this? Without knowing what I did? This sucks" he realised there was no way out for him this time.
A few moments ago, in an alley, a grey-haired old man was talking to someone on his scopenet, suddenly, the person's image disappeared from the screen. "I didn't think it would be this soon", the man said, removing his hoodie. It was none other than old Dan, who took care of Lin for a while. "Looks like I have to get going", he said, pressing pressure points on his body.
His appearance changed to that of a middle-aged man, and he grew to two meters. He looked the same, except younger. Just like the crimson-haired man, he flicked his wrist, and the same armour type appeared on him, except his armour was red. Space warped, and he disappeared from there.
Presently, Lin struggled to answer the question but could not even open his mouth. Space around broke suddenly, and he disappeared from where he was and appeared a few meters away. "What is…" Lin fainted before he could utter anymore. A man in red armour appeared and stood before him. "To think you old men would bully my dear student. You really haven't changed after all these years." He said with disdain.
His appearance made the expressions on the faces of the family heads regress into a frown. Chairman Niall's eye widened as he held his face in his palm and scoffed, "Teacher Dan, I wonder where you got the courage to come out of hiding after you ran with your tail between your legs last, I saw you? To appear before me is such a manner, you've really got guts, I would give you that." He said with his voice rising with every word.
"You always acted rampantly ever since I knew you, Niall. Now that you are before me, I should rip your rugged mouth to fit your crooked personality", he said coldly. He glared at Niall as if waiting to pounce on a prey. "Why did you bully my student?" he asked after a pause.
"Do I need to answer that? You coming out here really saved me the trouble of finding the rest of the members of that family and killing them myself. I will start with you, then him", he said with a smirk as he glanced over at Lin. Old Dan laughed and commented, "Your sense of humour is still lacking, I see that now. Killing me would bother me in the least, but if you touch a single hair on that kid's head, you will regret it for life."
"Pronouncing empty threats to save yourself? There's no point in that. A dead man does nothing in the grave. Even if your master comes here, nothing would change." Chairman Niall pressed on. All the family heads summoned their weapons for battle.
Lighting suddenly struck as a voice beckoned, "Hohoo, nothing you say? Niall, be careful what you wish for". In the flash of lightning, a figure in gold appeared before Niall. All the family heads there shuddered and put away their weapons instinctively.
Their faces became as black as coal. "I wondered who called me out of my seclusion; it turns out it was you, Niall, and all the others." He scanned all the faces there and commented, "I don't see my favourite person here. Where is he?" He barely asked when the sky tore open, and a man with two katanas strapped to his waist appeared between him and Niall.
It was the family head of the Azeria family, Rakshasa 'The Soulless Sword' Azeria. "Ah, there he is", the crimson-haired man said with a hearty laugh as if meeting an old friend. "Were you part of this ploy to kill my son?" he asked seriously. Rakshasa remained quiet; for some reason, he couldn't make eye contact with the man.
He pressed his lips tightly together in a slight grimace and watched the man without answering. His gaze shifted between Lin and the man in gold. His eyes began to well up, and he disappeared without a word.
His action surprised everyone there. All the family heads were dumbfounded as they looked on as if they had seen a ghost. "Ah, I see. Thank you for remaining a faithful friend to the end. Now, the rest of you…" he turned to the other family heads as he leaked immense murderous intent.
"Whose silly idea was it to kill my son?" he roared as lightning sparked across his eyes. "Don't let him scare you. In this state, he couldn't even kill a fly", Niall said as an intense aura surrounded him. The other family heads followed suit and released their auras. The two opposing forces collided, sending cracks into the ground, eventually blowing away the ground beneath them.
All the family heads hovered as a huge gouge several meters deep was left where they once were. All the family heads leaked a little blood from their lips. The crimson-haired man was no exception. "This monster. To think he still had this much strength", Niall was not happy about how things turned out.
A smirk appeared on the crimson-haired man's face as he said, "It appears I still have what it takes to mop the floor with a bunch of insects like you", he provoked. "What? Insect? Are you crazy? You are just as wounded as we are. Don't act all high and mighty", an annoyed family head barked.
"Really?" the crimson-haired man asked as he tilted his head sideways. His form began to change. His crimson pupils became pitch black as red encircled them. His crimson hair was now pitch black and danced like snakes on his head. A black crown adorned his head.
The family heads shuddered and gasped as they saw his transformation. "What? It can't be…" they all looked on in horror. Their faces became as black as the bottom of a pot as sweat covered their brows. Even Niall was lost for words. He didn't know what to do or say.
The crimson-haired man missed their reactions as his attention was drawn elsewhere. "Akrakus! I can sense that stupid eye of yours watching me. You better show yourself if you don't want me to kill your underlings".
"That's enough." A shadow appeared out of Lin and hovered before them. The shadow waved, and the crimson-haired man's powers were dispelled. The man frowned. "Just a wisp of his can dispel my ultimate? I still can't fathom this guy's real strength".
"Still playing the role of the demonic entity from the legends I see", the man commented.
"Shut up", the shadow said and moved before Niall and questioned, "What is the meaning of this? You are going to ruin everything if you keep giving in to those idiots' pesky demands", it glanced over at the family heads behind Niall. Niall looked at him indifferently, "I will take responsibility for what happened here, but I agree with them. We can't let a seed of 'that' family-run around in our presence. They all have to atone for what they caused with their lives", he spoke without hesitation or fear of what might happen for speaking such things before Akrakus.
Akrakus was rather understanding and did not reprimand him, instead, he cleared things up for him, "Don't be mistaken, Niall, that kid is 'that' family's atonement. Your chances of winning 'that battle' are already slim as is. Killing him would make your chance of winning non-existent. I, however, leave that Kid's life or death in your hands".
"And Niall, I hope you know that two insects have joined the fray. If you decide to let the kid live, send them his and the Shadow Knight's way."
Akrakus turned to the crimson-haired man, "Get out of here before your presence draws 'their' attention", he said and disappeared in a black mist. The crimson-haired man turned to Old Dan, "Send him my way when he is strong enough", he said and disappeared as well.
