The men gritted their teeth and stood to face their opponent once again. They showed no signs of backing down. A red figure appeared in the doorway and stood without taking another step. Seeing the figure, the crimson-haired man put up a barrier to protect those with him.
"To think I would meet one of my calibres", it cackled loudly. A wicked power blew away the part of the building it stood, but it could not penetrate the barrier set up by the crimson-haired man.
"Will destroying this place and killing innocents change your condition? Oh, cursed human?" the crimson-haired man asked as he looked at the red figure.
The figure looked at him with disdain, "Innocent? No, no one here is innocent", it barked at him.
The crimson-haired man's demeanour did not change. He spoke calmly and clearly, "What do you seek, that you lay waste to this kingdom, leaving dead bodies in your wake? Are you perhaps here to seek revenge because of what ensued many years ago?"
The figure laughed wildly. One would think the figure had gone mad without fully understanding what was happening. It looked at the crimson-haired man like he was a joke, "You think this is about revenge? No, I merely wanted answers, but no one is willing to give them. There's no worth in keeping such people alive".
"You monster"
"Yeah, remind me of that again. Enough with the talk. Answer my questions or face your death and that of your family".
Looking back and realising young Lin was no longer on the bed, he bared his fangs at the red figure, "Lending you my ears till now was enough torture. I can't bear to listen to you anymore. Begone!"
Meanwhile, before a burning castle, young Lin slowly opened his eyes and stared into the air. "Where am I? Who am I?" he wondered. "Right, I'm Lin, Lin… My surname, I can't seem to remember. Everything is fuzzy. Wait, I remember I have a mom and a dad, but what do they look like? What are they like? And I remember the teacher." several questions flooded young Lin's mind as he could barely remember anything about his life or his parents.
An explosion in the castle caused the boy to jump up and run to save himself. "What is happening? Why is everything getting destroyed? That explosion, where did it come from?" he wondered. Another explosion jolted him, and he fell face forward.
"Ahh!" Lin yelled as he awoke in a cave in Aquasphere, panting heavily. "Another dream? No. Vision or memory. The visions are becoming more vivid now. Who was that man? From what I saw, he was my father, or at least that is what I inferred, but I don't remember having a father." Lin was confused as he tried to grasp what he had just seen.
"Right, memory implant. I don't seem to be remembering anything from the implanted memories. Only the ones I presumably lost due to the implant. If that man is my father, then where is he? Is he dead, or is he alive? Royal Phantasm, who are they? Where can I find them? What do they do?"
"I have more questions than I do answers. That woman who claimed to be my sister said to find her, but I don't recognise the text she sent. I will have to research ancient texts to fully understand her message."
"There's no use thinking about such things now. The bout should be my priority. After that, I will find out why the family heads ganged up on me once I visit the Azeria family to deliver the message Akrakus gave me."
Lin had no idea of what transpired after he passed out. All he knew was that he was now somehow safe. Lin exited the cave, still in his armour. He emerged onto a rocky ledge, where a stone dummy stood. "I should resume my training and then find something to eat." He walked to it and began practising his skills.
Back in Terasphere, the bout was still progressing. Many cheered as they watched the match between the prince of the Copernicus family, rulers of the Arcadia Territory, August Taurn Copernicus and the princess of the Azeria family, Euphrasia Lorlei Azeria. It was a match none had foreseen or expected, two talents of the ruling families of Terasphere battling each other.
What made the match even more intriguing for some was that the prince of the Copernicus family had been so open about his feelings for the princess, but the princess never reciprocated that feeling. Some thought, "He might get approved by her today if he wins". Like all the other matches, their details were displayed on the screen.
<Name: Frost Monarch>
<Assigned Weapon: Dual Katana>
<Element Attributes: Frost>
<Level: Hector>
<Rank: 31>
Princess Lorlei's details were the first to appear. Much like her father, she was a wielder of dual blades herself. The only difference was that hers were shorter than her father's. Prince Taurn's details were revealed next. Many cheered for him as they had seen how impressive his previous matches were. For the princess, all her opponents were weak, so she could not display her strength for the newcomers to appreciate her.
<Name: Emerald Sabre>
<Assigned Weapon: Dual Large Swords>
<Element Attributes: Flame>
<Level: Hector>
<Rank: 31>
"Frost and flame, huh? I am looking forward to this", a woman commented as she watched from the sidelines, away from all the others. She had green braids and eyes. She was about five inches away from being two meters tall. Beside her was a man with crossed arms and a toothpick in his mouth. He had an athletic build and was a few inches taller than her. His pale blue hair matched his eye colour.
He was quite the beauty himself. He looked at the curvy woman with green braids and smiled, "It does not matter who wins, does it?" He smirked and watched the screen.
"Of course not. Neither is a match for you. After all, you are the man named after the battle beast." She complimented with a large grin. He laughed and said, "You flatter me, dear, but the one I'm interested in is that Lava Demon guy. He seems pretty strong."
"There's nothing to be concerned about. Lava Demon does seem strong, but his skills are so so", she mocked. "Not quite", he corrected.
"How so?" she did not understand what he meant. He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her closer. Her cheeks turned red as she poked him with her fingers. "When I saw him in the hotel at Inner Moon territory, I felt threatened by his presence alone. It was the first time I felt that vibe from someone."
"For you to feel threatened by his presence alone, he must be an interesting guy. Want me to convince him to lose to you?" she whispered, her breath tingling in his ears.
He giggled as his cheeks flushed red, "You know what happens when you tease me like that, don't you?" She put her lips against his ears and whispered, "Do you mind telling me?"
"Ha, you asked for it", he whispered back, disappearing with her.
Meanwhile, on a plain field, Frost Monarch and Emerald Sabre faced off. They stood twenty meters apart as Prince Taurn planted his swords on the ground and brought out a bouquet. Princess Lorelei frowned, but unlike her, those watching gasped. They did not expect the prince to do that. Most thought what he did was romantic, but the princess's expression worsened.
