Kapitel 14: Chapter 14

Layla felt painful, watching her teachers pretend to act okay by the time the sports fest begins and the teachers were the ones who will be what Layla knows they will be because of the principal's orders. Layla had no interest in watching the volleyball game especially since she saw them trying so hard to cheer up so she just wanders around the school with Jace because he also has no interest in that.

"Did you see how awkward everything was? I'm just waiting for the day the new teacher arrives so he can be the reason so people here can lighten up." Layla says to Jace while they're walking in their school garden.

"I did notice but to be honest, I was too busy trying not to care so I will not be too affected by how a mess everything was. Do want to sit?" He takes out his hand for Layla to reach and Layla accepts his hand although she is confused about why he was being so gentleman when she's just going to sit down then she remembers that he might still have feelings for her.

"I just wish I could unsee that and try to cheer up many people as I can while it's still early." She said while sighing, remembering how gloomy everything was in the volleyball court.

"That's quite enough cheering up other people, don't you think? You have made your classmates happy so I think that's enough about them and it's now about you. You should take care of yourself and cheer yourself up." He told her while sitting down beside her and folding his arms on his chest while looking at her in concern.

"Thank you but I think I am cheering myself up by making other people happy. I just like seeing people smile because of me, it satisfies me in a way." She smiles, recalling the time when Zoey was cheered up from her optimistic attitude and the way her classmates smile whenever she's around them.

"Like this? Does this make you happy?" Layla looked at Jace and saw him smiling widely at her which made her laugh.

"Like that." She answers while nodding. Jace chuckled and nodded back.

"I'm glad I can make you happy too." He confessed while smiling softly at her.

Layla then looks down at the ground then back at him while pressing her lips together. "Do you really have a crush on me?" She asked him with curiosity and Jace blushed.

"Oh, look! How clumsy you are. Let me clean you up." He mentioned to her legs that are covered in mud from spending the time helping Jace in the soccer fields and also ignoring answering her question. She has her gym pants rolled up on her legs and she only noticed now how dirty she is. She wonders how long her leg has been like that.

Jace stands up and kneels in front of her. Then he takes off a handkerchief from his pocket. Layal feels embarrassed by his sudden sweet gesture but she just watched him get all flustered and sweet. Jace wiped her leg gently while touching her leg and that made both of them shy. Layla watches him as he wipes in complete silence then he glances at her. "Yes. I do have feelings for you and I have always admired you even though you never really knew me and you didn't care. I asked you from your other classmates that are nice enough to me and to other people who knew you as well. I do have a crush on you, Layla that's why I care for you." He confessed, making Layla's cheeks flushed.

"O-oh..." She uttered in complete shyness while he continues wiping her leg while touching her softly. Layal could barely feel his touch if it wasn't for the sweet caress of his thumb on her skin.

"There." He said after he finished wiping her skin and his thumb draw small circles on her leg before he stands up and smiles at her, letting go of her leg.

Layla finds him attractive and everything about him is even if their first encounter with each other isn't exactly pleasing and nice but she was truly afraid of keeping big secrets from him that nobody can ever know. She isn't certain about her feelings but she sure is way too affected by the way his gentleness and his sweet confession are too lovely and wonderful.

Jace sat down beside her again with a shy smile. "Sorry about your handkerchief. I can wash it for you." Layla told him while taking the handkerchief off his hand but he shakes his head.

"It's okay. I can manage this." He assured her while taking off her hand. Layla nods and looks at him directly in the eyes.

"I-I think I like you too. I mean, not as much as you like me but I find you attractive, to be honest. Is that okay?" Layal confessed back to him, once again being so bold and courageous.

Jace smiled at her widely and nodded. "Are kidding me? That's more than okay!" He told her while running his hands on his hair, feeling so giddy and happy about the way Layla feels about him too.

"Good." Layla smiles back to him after seeing him getting all excited and happy.

"Then allow me to be there for you and to make you happy, hmm?" Layla nodded at his words.

"Sure." She once again boldly moved her hand closer to him and Jace noticed that so he laughs and held her hand, intertwining their fingers together.

Layla smiled, happily when he held her hand and Jace grins at her but frowns when he remembers about her friend who seems close to her. "How about your friend? The athletic one?"

Layla's brows furrowed. "You mean Alex? He's just a....friend. That reminds me...you are now 2 steps ahead from anyone who tries to be this close to me. I'm sure you heard about me not having any friends and rejecting anyone who wants to be close to me. But I want to try to change for myself, for everyone and for Arthur."

Jace remembers the recent death of her guardian and he feels like he is too fast and he is pressuring her too much when she should take some time to think about things. Layla felt his hand got looser around hers so she looks at him and asked him what's wrong.

"I think I'm moving too fast and I'm pressuring you when you should be taking care of yourself and having a time off from what happened. Maybe we shouldn't..." He explained to her what's bothering him. He faced her and rubbed her cheek softly while smiling at her.

Layla grins and to his surprise, she pecked him on his lips that made his cheeks flushed after she parted away with a warm smile. "How about now?"

Jace smiled like a lovestruck he is and he kissed her again on the lips. "We can adjust to all of this right? I think we can."

Layla nodded and smiled at him. They continued talking about things, the awkward tension between them was gone and was left with the first love and romance between two teenagers while at the same being each other's best friend. Jace is actually a year higher than her, making him Grade 11 and he is also the class president of class one in his grade.

Then Sir Killian Kingsley walks past them, not noticing them but Layla noticed him. "Did you see that man? He looks unfamiliar, what could he be doing in here?"

"No, I didn't but who knows? Maybe it's the new history teacher? Finally showing up after a week." Jace said while rolling his eyes and Layla chuckled.

"Maybe."

Layla felt like her hair stood up when the man walked past by them briefly. She felt scared and like she immediately hates him for some reason that she doesn't even know.

"But I hope not." She muttered while frowning still feeling displeased with both the man she saw and her new history teacher that caused other problems.

'How irresponsible that teacher is..' Layla thinks. while shaking her head and focusing herself on Jace.

Alex and the rest of Layla's classmates saw them and they startled them by jumping behind them and scaring that fuck out of them. Layla glared at Alex and continuously smacked him on the arm while Alex screamed in pain. Jace laughed at them and shake his head while they watch them joke around.

"WE SAW THAT, LAYLA! ARE TWO TOGETHER? HA! I FUCKING KNEW IT!" Liv screamed in happiness while winking at Jace and Jace's face got serious and his cheeks flushed red from embarrassment.

They all joked around with each other, mostly teasing Layla because they were all scared of Jace because of his seriousness. Jace holds Layla's hand and they ran away from them but they followed them. "HA! YOU CAN'T RUN AWAY FROM US, FOOLS!"

Sir Kingsley walked towards his new office with his usual grumpiness with furrowed brows and a big frown on his lips. When he got there he thought he'll be alone but he saw the principal there with a flirtatious look but Sir Kingsley ignored her, he walked past her and sat on his desk chair with a heavy sigh while putting down his things on the table.

"Why the fuck did you call me to be here when the students are occupied with the sports fest? I should be doing more productive things than being here and participating with them." He complained while looking at her with his usual scary gaze and his brow raised, questioning her intelligence.

The principal leaned on his desk with her arms placed there and showing her cleavage as usual even though she barely has a big chest. She purses out her red lips while batting her long eyelashes. "Oh, you know. The president ordered me to call all of the teachers, ordering for all of the teachers to participate in the sports fest."

"Stop it, you old hag. I'm not even a little interested in you or in any other human being on this planet." He told her with a scrunched up nose, showing the disgust that he's feeling towards her. Mrs. Vivian fixed herself and stood up straight, feeling so embarrassed at what he called her. She even has a husband but she still has the guts to act like that and that disturbed Sir Kingsley more.

"Just tell me what I need to do here and get out of my sight." He tells her like she's just some secretary of his, rudely while looking down at his laptop and opening it. He's like that towards her because she really doesn't have enough power to kick him out of the school because she doesn't own it and even the president and the other heads of the school are sick of her attitude.

"Well, you need to participate in the basketball game tomorrow. T-that's all." She hurried walking out of his office after being embarrassed and she covered her cleavage while scowling.

"Who does he think he is?! My gosh, what an asshole." She muttered under her breath and she walked away in anger.

"Mrs. Vivian!"

"Oh my god!" She jumped and placed her hand on her chest with widened eyes. She turned around and saw a student, Mark, calling for her with a wide grin.

"Is our new teacher here yet?" He asked her. "We're all worried about him not arriving. Has he arrived?"

She fake smiled and nodded. "Oh, he's here alright! He is surely here. Now run along, I am busy. May you excuse me?"

"Wait! How about my father? Is he here?" Her eyes widened more.

"Why? What will you tell him?" She asked him, jumping to conclusions that Mark saw what happened and will tell his father but he looks at her in confusion.

"Why does it matter to you? It's between the two of us." He told her.

"Ah," She laughed. "I'm sorry. He's not here but he'll arrive soon."

"Oh, okay. Bye then." Mark jogs away from her and she turned around while she walks hurriedly with her tight dress and high heels, she struggling but she doesn't care because her pride and reputation got ruined.
