Most of the clients needed manicures and pedicures updates. Those seeking the services of a little wax were shuttled behind a curtain where muffled screams of pain wafted through the air.

“So this ‘J’, how did y’all meet?”

“At a club.”

“What club?” Danita said, as she got her nails buffed and polished

“This spot off Glenwood,” I said, shuffling over to the table next to hers.

“Which club? Calypso?”

“Danita, are you a nurse or a detective? I feel like I need to have an attorney present.”

“I’m just saying. If you meet someone in a club, and they put it on you like it looks like they put it on you, I might have to find a baby sitter and hit it up.”

“What’s happening with you and Mr. MD?” I said, hoping to buy myself some time.
