"You know, Roy, you seem to be getting up earlier than usual."
Yang pointed out during dinner, getting a nod from Taiyang.
It has been a month since I started training, Qrow was gone and I had to trail all by myself, I know the basics, at least I know how to swing a practice sword and how to wield a dagger.
I have been working on actually shooting my fire forward and it was moderately fast so far, though... I do plan on skipping school for training, some more training... and some more training, Honestly, whatever amounted to high school here was worthless since books in the library and any huntsman could teach you more than a school.
"Well, I have to train, it's not easy to control fire, just making it smaller and keeping its power is hard enough."
I shrugged, ignoring the pour sent my way by the older girl.
"Roy, are you sure you don't want to go to school before joining Signal? You can make friends."
Pffft! Friends! I'd rather jump in a horde of Grimm than play around with nine-year-olds.
"I rather stay away from there... Thank you."
I bit into the bacon. Nope, not touching anyone under fifteen... until im fifteen.
But I need more, uh, permanent teacher.
"Hey, dad-"
He perked up and looked over at me with interest, wondering what I needed.
"-Is there a retired huntsman nearby that can train me with a sword? I'd rather not be alone while handling a real blade."
The blonde just stared at me for a moment, seemingly in thought.
"No, it's just me, who can help you with hand to hand and Qrow who has a greatsword, there is Signal but there you just spar with classmates."
I was disappointed again, I had no one to fight with, I could spar with my uncle, but he was missing more often than not.
You know... I may need to leave.
Picking up my plate, I place it in the sink, today was Yang's turn to clean up and this time, puppy dog eyes won't work on me.
"Roy~"
"No, im going out to train."
-Three hours later-
Come on...
The ball of fire grew.
Come on...
It shrunk.
"What ar-"
"Shut up."
Qrow shut his mouth.
The centre of the fireball started turning blue.
"You're increasing the concentration of fire to make it hotter!"
The flame disappeared and I picked up a pebble, throwing it at Qrow.
"I told you to stay quiet! Not yell in my ear and describe exactly what im doing!"
The asshole laughed, raising his hands in mock surrender and then he threw me a practice wooden sword.
"Let's see how much you improved, do the basic stances."
Do the stances, right. Now I just gotta do the stances.
"You know, I asked dad about who "She" was-"
That got his attention in the form of a raised eyebrow.
"So...Winter Schnee, huh?"
He glared.
I snickered.
I went into the first stance of my slowly but surely developing style... Maybe having two swords will be useful, or a gun, though, I can just shoot flames from my hands so I dont see the need for a ranged weapon.
-The next day-
"Don't upset Qrow, everything is sore, I can't feel my legs, my arms are about to fall off."
Yang chuckled from the side of my bed, enjoying my suffering. Like any older sister would.
"Well, you wanted to train with an annoyed uncle, of course, he would push you to the limit."
I glare at her, he was training to join Signal next year, so dad was actually helping her with hand-to-hand combat. Man, being the younger brother sucked!
I need to grow sooner... Milk it is!
But before that, I need to be able to stand up.
"Well, Im off! Going out with my friends."
...She abandoned me!
"Wait! Bring me milk!... And some cookies!"
She was gone... Dad wasn't home and uncle was out as well.
Damn it.
I remained on the bed, waiting for my aura to heal the soreness in my body... It only took an hour but I was able to stand, thankfully.
Groaning, I stand from the bed and grab some clothes that were left next to the bed.
Looking outside a window, I see a black bird, a raven... Not suspicious at all.
Raising my arm with my bored face still unchanging, I wait for a little bit... any time now...
The raven flew and perched itself on my arm, its claws were not painful on my forearm and we stared at each other, Im not sure how to read a bird's expression, but im getting the feeling that it was raising an eyebrow at me.
"Hey there... Girl?"
It squawked.
"Okay, girl it is, wanna stay for a while, im about to train with my semblance."
It tilted its head and squeaked again, flapping its wings to boost itself to my shoulder.
Well, at least I had company now.
"I'll call you Rave."
I didn't get an answer, but I think she liked it.
Walking out of the bedroom, I went inside the kitchen and grabbed a cold bottle of water...
"You want something?"
I asked the bird on my shoulder, there were grapes... Do ravens like grapes?
I reached for a grape and held it up to her. She took it without much fuss, shrugging with my unoccupied shoulder, I grab a small plate and pick up a few more grapes, placing them on the plate and heading outside.
Sitting down cross-legged and placing down the bottle of water next to me, I watch Rave jump down to the ground and waited for me to place down the plate of grapes.
I did and she dug in while looking at me in between bites.
I raised my hands up and created a fireball, trying to get the same effect that I managed to reach yesterday before qrow distracted me.
It came easily... but only got harder when I tried to concentrate the fire even more.
I continued trying to intensify the heat of the flame with a bird watching me while eating grapes.
Can't believe dad wanted me to go to school. Can the school teach me how to befriend a raven? Don't think so.
