Kapitel 42: A Frenzy

"Selene did a good job. I didn't expect you to come till tomorrow, but today is even better," the man began, a sinister and cruel smirk playing on his lips. His presence seemed to intensify the coldness in the guardhouse, and my heart raced in my chest.

He paid no attention to Jakayla, his focus solely on me, as he licked his teeth and advanced toward me with deliberate, ominous steps.

Adding to the tension, a distant howl reached our ears, and I shrank back, feeling increasingly helpless as I immediately recognized it. It was Zane's howl.

Slowly, I began to back away, my fear growing with each step, while Jakayla lunged at the man, attempting to transform. However, the man swiftly seized her by the neck and hurled her against the wall, a resounding crack echoing as she hit the ground with a thud.
