Kapitel 10: Chapter 9

Arms in her father's, Lyka was led to the altar and everyone watched the richest man in the country 'lovingly' lead his beautiful daughter to the altar.

Nolbett who was at the far end of the  aisle initially didn't turn back but when he finally did, a smirk found its way on his attractive lips.

Guess this marriage wasn't that bad. After all, the woman he was marrying is gorgeous.

Dressed in a silk off-the-shoulder wedding dress fabric, closely followed by more intricate styles of lace, the dress looked soft on her white milky skin, yet it was incredibly durable.

The neckline was studded with white diamonds making her upper skin glow and the bodice looked like it was sprinkled with white glowing pearls. The train was so long it almost reached the door, even though her and her father were almost reaching the other end of the aisle where Nolbett was.

In short, the wedding gown screamed wealth. Her makeup was minimal yet that alone brought out her unique beauty, her blonde hair was made into wavelets braid bun and adorned with a glittering white gold diamond hair accessory.

Everyone couldn't help but stare and funny enough, it was her grandmother who had the gown personally made by one of her friends who was a very famous and expensive fashion designer.

There was pin-drop silence and Nolbett watched as she walked arm in arm with her father they up to him with a happy smile on her face? 🤔

Lyka finally looked up and locked gaze with her soon-to-be-husband and she had to admit that he looked dashing.

He was wearing a three-piece floral all Champagne tuxedo which gave off this superiority vibes. His black hair had been slicked backward, highlighting his facial features and he had his annoying, signature smirk on.

She didn't even fret, neither did she look away as he fixed his gaze on her while they both faked their vows. She could have sworn she saw the confusion swirling in his eyes. Of course, he should be confused, few days ago, she had adamantly refused to get married to him and now she was staring at him like he was her world.

She was still engrossed in her own thoughts when she heard the words she had probably forgotten existed in weddings.

"You may kiss the bride"

Her breath hitched and her eyes widened as soon as she heard those words. Say what now?😮

Nolbett on the other hand struggled to suppress his chuckle as he stared at the expression on her face. She had this side to her that made one want to badly tease her.

Her heart started racing that she thought it was going to burst. How could she had forgotten about this?

If her eyes could widen more than it already was, it would , when Nolbett firmly yet gently placed his hand on her lower back and pulled her close, himself leaning closer.

'it's just a kiss right?, It doesn't mean anything. Actors and actresses kiss different people and it wasn't a big deal, even her best friend had kissed countless men and it wasn't a big deal right?, She would just kiss him and forget it. She doesn't need to fret about it nor feel....

Lord!, All her self motivational speech weren't working. She could feel her palms sweaty and her stomach churn with nervosity that she thought she would fall and embarrass herself.

She closed her eyes as she felt him hold her chin tenderly and his warm breath hit her face.

'It was happening.... it was happening, it was ha....'

She opened her eyes only to find him leaning back on his feet, his hands leaving her body, a taunting glint in his eyes.

The priest was the only one who saw what happened as everyone cheered the couples with the assumption that they had kissed. He stared at them awkwardly not saying anything but one glance from Nolbett, he averted his gaze from them immediately.

Lyka's cheek flushed with embarrassment, the crazy guy was just pulling her legs. He had just pecked her cheeks though very close to her lips. She glared at him oblivious to the priest words and the guests applause.

" Am sorry" Nolbett said for the umpteenth time but the little girl only glared at him.

"You weren't there,Danica was bullying me, she even made me cry" she complained pouting her lips childishly.

" She did that?, Don't worry, no one would bully you ever again." He assured.

"Promise?"

" I promise" he answered and the girl finally smiled. She looked cute whenever she did that.

" That means, I still own all your love right?" She asked batting her eyelashes adorably.

Nolbett chuckled at this," Of course you do, who else if not you?"

"Yay!"she jubilated on her own way while Nolbett just watched her with a faint smile.

Rex couldn't believe his eyes, the woman he had been searching for, for almost two weeks was only some steps away, chatting with the bride. He didn't know why but he had this weird attachment to her, though now the attachment wasn't what mattered, it was the anger brewing within him at the woman for the humiliation he had gone through, thanks to what she did.

He was about to approach her when Danica approached him 'dumping' Emily with him.

"What the ..." He wasn't able to finish his statement when Danica left. The girl couldn't be with Nolbett everytime.

"Dammit" he cursed and muttered under his breath,'Why couldn't she just stay home'

"Still finding it hard to believe that you got married first" Tacha said doubtfully as she twirled the glass of wine in her hands.

"Me too".

"Me three". Chantelle added hers as they all bursted into laughter.

"Hmmn hmmm" Chantelle cleared her throat in mockery before she asked teasingly," how was the kiss with Nolbett?"

"What?, No...no...no, we didn't kiss. We didn't, it was only a peck on the cheek". She said quickly as if scared her friends would misunderstand.

"That's not true, I clearly saw him kissing you". Tacha chipped in, also raising her eyebrows teasingly.

"No, seriously, he wasn't kissing me. It was only a peck. I swear". She tried to explain but her friends weren't buying it, nevertheless, they let it go.

" You have been looking around since, searching for someone?" Tacha asked once she noticed it.

"Yeah, hoped Drake would come, but I guess he isn't coming. He is probably still mad at me". She said dejectedly.

" He still hasn't replied your calls or texted you?" Chantelle inquired curiously and Lyka shook her head dissafirmingly.

"He's such an asshole. It wasn't your fault and it wasn't like your father hurt him". Chantelle chatted on but was stopped by Tacha.

"Why is Nolbett and that guy coming towards us?" She asked almost nervously.

Chantelle looked up and the glass of water one she was holding almost fell off her hand. The guy beside Lyka's husband, she knew him, the guy had been going back to Dexiur, the bar she frequently visits. He had been looking for her and she wondered why, her father mustn't know she had been visiting bars not to talk of it being Dexiur, one of the most expensive yet dirtiest clubs in the country and she had this scary inkling that he was a spy of her dad's.

But then on second thought,if he was a spy of her dad's, what the hell was he doing with Nolbett, wait.....,  He was even his best man!!

Luckily for her, the men weren't heading for them. They were approaching some men behind them but Nolbett took Lyka with him as she went with them to be introduced to his guests.

"And this is my adoptive father,Gerald". He introduced and Lyka smiled warmly at him.

"Nice to meet you Gerald". She replied but not with total honesty.

Though the man looked very gentle  and warm-hearted, she believed he also knew of Nolbett's plans to enter an unwanted marriage with her to gain more power.

"Nice to meet you too and I must say, you are gorgeous". He complimented as Lyka smiled. Seems like she would be getting along with the man.

Nolbett excused himself, leaving Lyka with Gerald.

"Funny enough that I am just meeting you today". She accused after Nolbett had gone.

"Am very sorry, didn't want to make you more uncomfortable than you already are with the whole charade". He replied modestly.

"Glad you know it's a charade". She tried so hard to not snap at him but her tone almost gave her away, yet  Gerald was in no manner offended.

He was about to say something else when a woman and Nolbett's best man interrupted.

"Hey gorgeous!" Nolbett's best man greeted, a playful smile on his lips.

Lyka's hostile gaze moved unto Rex but it softened a bit when it landed on him.

She looked away from him and her gaze lingered on Danica who was beside Rex before she turned and walked away not even bothering to look back.

The wedding was finally over, at least for the couple. Guests were still welcomed to wine and dine, but the couple had to leave.

"My granddaughter is finally married. You looked so beautiful today that my heart melted." Martha said her eyes brimming with happiness, the woman was more than joyous to see her granddaughter married.

There was brief silence until she spoke up again."really wished your mom was here. She would have been so happy and excited." She paused and then continued,"She was so happy when she knew she was pregnant with you and triple happy when she discovered she was having a girl".

"She would fawn over how beautiful you were and how she would be part of every single phase of your life". Paisley added as they both chuckled.

"But am sure where ever she is now. She is proud of you"

"Oh grandma!" Lyka cried and hugged her.

They disengaged and Martha broke the news.

" I would be going back to Iceland. Probably for some years before I come back to Beree". She announced.

"Why?"

"Just missed my fatherland. Don't worry, I'll keep in touch". Martha assured.

"Fine, I'll call you frequently".she promised and Martha nodded.

"Yes, yes, go now, your handsome husband is waiting for you". She urged with a naughty grin.

"Grandma!"

"Go!!" Martha urged and Lyka hugged her grandmother for the last time before she was led by her  new husband to their limousine.
