Victoria slept soundly in her room as she had just finished a round of meditation and had school the next day.
"Mm." She suddenly squirmed as she began to feel cold, do she covered herself with her blanket.
*WHOOSH*
The blanket suddenly flew off her body which alarmed her and she immediately mobilized her magic to form a protective film around herself.
'Who has the audacity to come here? No more importantly, who's able to sneak in despite the security if the manor?!' Numerous thoughts ran through her mind as she looked around her room.
Suddenly, a hand wrapped around her mouth as she suddenly found herself incapable of using her magic.
"Calm down, it's me." A familiar voice entered her ears causing her pupils to constrict, was it who she thought it was?.
The hand slowly retracted and Victoria swiftly turned around with hope in her eyes. She saw a tall male with a slender build wearing what looked to be a tracksuit. She couldn't see his face but his green eyes glowed in the dark.
"G- Gideon?" Victoria whispered, her voice filled with uncertainty and hope at the same time.
"Mhm, it's me." Gideon affirmed her thoughts with a grin, though she couldn't see it.
"Anyway, I-" Gideon didn't finish before Victoria hugged him abruptly, he body shook as she cried while burying her face in his chest.
Gideon sighed when this happened. He patted her head slowly as the two stayed like that for many minutes. Had it been the previous Gideon, then he would have cried as well.
"When did you come back?" Victoria said between choked sobs.
"Not too long, it was after the beast tide ended." When he said that, Victoria immediately had a thought and looked at Gideon.
"Wait, were you the one that casted that massive poison fog!?!" Victoria asked in disbelief.
"Yeah." Gideon answered straightforwardly causing shock to fill her heart. When did he become so strong?!?
"You're so strong now, that's great." Victoria said from the bottom of her heart. She new that her brother had very weak natural endowments, but he had gotten stronger.
"Not strong enough." Gideon's voice was rigid as he said this. He would need to get stronger. He didn't know why, but there was this feeling deep in his heart, and somehow, he knew that if he didn't become stronger, then there would be consequences.
At this point, Victoria removes her hug and looked at Gideon in the eyes.
"Don't worry, I'll get stronger so that I can help you achieve whatever you want." Victoria said resolutely as she waved her little fist.
"I'm sure you will, now go to sleep. Don't worry, we'll meet again." Gideon said which made her pout, but she still nodded.
"Good girl."
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gideon's heart felt at ease when he finally got to talk to his sister after all these years. He was also a bit shocked when he saw how quickly she controlled her magic to protect herself, most children would barely be able even make a bit of defense, talk less of unconsciously controlling it.
'She really is a prodigy.' He couldn't help but think to himself. Compared to him that couldn't even control his magic at that age, she was already making spells.
'Well, there's no point in comparing, my talent was bad to begin with.' He thought while chuckling bitterly to himself. He was currently outside the city and was training his dagger skills. He realized that if he didn't practice for a long time, his mastery in certain skills would drop, so he constantly honed himself.
'Speaking on daggers, I need to get a combat technique.' With this thought in mind, Gideon brought out a few books from his spatial storage. They were all dagger techniques.
You're probably thinking why would he need to learn dagger techniques when he already had the dagger arts skill. The thing is, although it gave him mastery over all sorts of dagger skills, he wasn't satisfied as he wanted a technique that existed uniquely to him, causing him to do this.
Gideon read through them briefly before sighing, he already knew all of these. He knew that his future opponents would have skills that he had never seen before, which is why he wanted to make something of his own and put himself through all this stress.
He sat down and pondered carefully. T the same time, there was a large snake that was about 7 meters in length that formed a circle around him, this was naturally Lisk who had been devouring the corpses of the numerous creatures that Gideon had killed causing it to grow stronger and it's size to increase as a result.
Then, Gideon had a thought and when he indulged in it, he become excited. What about merging combat techniques?
Gideon remembered that he really liked the whip but still chose daggers as they suited him better, but it was still a weapon that left a deep impression on him.
He immediately got up with his daggers in his hands. And at the bottom of both of them, he made a long poison string that connected both of the daggers.
His idea was that he would engage in close combat with both daggers in hand, but the moment the opponent dodged or tried to make distance, he would use the daggers like a whip. At the same time, he remembered that he could spin the daggers at a high speed before attacking as the momentum would be able to deal more damage than just swinging the daggers themselves.
Gideon looked at a nearby tree and put his theory to play. He held the string he made and started spinning his right dagger Frey.
*HUMMMM*
A humming sound came from the dagger that was stirring up the wind as its speed increased rapidly.
The next instant, Gideon swung the dagger towards the tree carrying along all the momentum from the spinning.
The string stretched as the dagger reached its target.
*SLICE*
Gideon severely underestimated the power of the attach as the string almost left his hand. Meaning, forget the tree he had targeted, almost a few dozen trees and rocks were sliced cleanly in half just by the force released from the strike.
One had to know, Gideon hadn't used any skills, just spinning the dagger with the string, this immediately put him on cloud nine.
'Success.' Gideon did a small celebration earning a look of confusion from Lisk.
He quickly calmed himself however as he analyzed the move carefully.
'It's strong no doubt, but there's no way that my opponent would let me charge it up the way I just did, I'd also need to be able to use it in fast passed combat. Moreover, I didn't get a notification from the system saying that I had gotten a new skill.' As Gideon thought about this, he started to practice throughout the night, sometimes failing but most times he failed.
But he didn't stop. Years in the wilderness and numerous life or death battles had sharpened his perseverance.
Finally, just as dawn was about to break, his efforts bore fruit.
[Ding, host has modified his skill 'Dagger arts' into a new skill called 'Whiplash dagger'. The skill allows host to use his daggers as well as a string to produce powerful whip like effects.]
Hearing the system's notification, Gideon grinned.
