Kapitel 68: One on One with the Great One
Helena and her men continued walking excitedly towards the treasure.
Their eyes were shining like stars as they took their time to check each gem one by one.
Unfortunately for them, their treasure unboxing was cut short by a loud roar.
*ROOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAARR*
Helena and the battalion commanders were startled by the loud roar that came from behind them and they quickly turned around by reflex.
Their eyes were wide open in shock due to the appearance of the creature.
The creature was only as big as a forest troll but that's what made it more intimidating.
It had pitch-black eyes and a densely muscular body from head to toe. It seems like its body was jam-packed to the brim with both speed and power.
It looked like an ox, it had a nose ring and it was standing on two feet while holding a huge halberd as a weapon.
Its body was emitting black smoke and it looked furious as it walked closer and closer to them.
Minotaur!
The battalion commanders were a bit intimidated by the creature. Surprisingly, Helena on the other hand didn't look intimidated one bit.
On the contrary, she looked excited as if she found the perfect opponent to hone her combat skills.
She had a wide smile on her face as she drew her Salamandr and took her battle stance.
"No one intervenes! This one's mine! I need an opponent like this guy once in a while."
The battalion commanders were in awe after hearing what Helena said. Just based on mentality alone, their general Helena was already way above them.
She was like a battle-hungry beast who would happily fight anyone at any given time.
Just from this, the battalion commanders learned something new again. It seems that they need to change their attitude in order to get stronger.
Helena was smiling excitedly as she slowly walked forward to fight the minotaur.
On the other hand, the minotaur was extremely furious that these humans dared to covet his treasures and it couldn't wait to rip all of them apart.
The fact that this human girl even dared to face it in a duel made it even more furious.
This was the first time that it encountered someone who didn't try to run away after encountering it.
After a bit of staring down and circling each other, the battle finally began.
Helena attacked first, she immediately jumped forward and slashed her Greatsword downwards.
*ROOOOOOOAAAAARRR*
The minotaur wasn't happy with this frontal attack from Helena. It thinks that this human girl is directly challenging it in terms of raw strength.
Audacious! How dare this human challenge it in a contest of strength!
It swung its halberd diagonally upwards to clash against Helena's sword.
*CLANG*
The weapons clashed and unsurprisingly, it was Helena who was sent sliding back by a few centimeters.
"Hoh? Not bad you oversized cow!"
The minotaur was surprised.
In its imagination, after receiving his strike, the human girl's arms would break like some piece of random twig.
It didn't expect that this human could actually match it in terms of strength.
Due to this, the minotaur started treating the battle seriously. It didn't charge in anymore like a mindless bull.
Its eyes narrowed into slits as it began to think and assess Helena's combat power.
Helena didn't waste time though, thinking wasn't her forte and she fights using her immaculate battle instincts.
She immediately charged in again and continued slashing at different angles.
After a few moments, her slashes started to get faster and faster.
*ROOOOOOOAAAAAARRR*
The minotaur kept on roaring as it continuously swung its halberd in response to Helena's ferocious onslaught.
In just a few minutes, the two of them had already exchanged a hundred moves but no one fell into a disadvantage.
The minotaur was now slightly wary of the human in front of it.
It was used to being the king of this labyrinth and no one could challenge it.
There were a few humans hundreds of years ago who stumbled upon this labyrinth but in the end, they had to run due to severe injuries.
This was the first time that it was actually threatened by a puny human.
"You're really strong you overgrown cow! I acknowledge your strength. It seems like I really have to use my sword intent against you!"
Helena coated her sword with red sword intent as she fiercely gazed at the minotaur.
The minotaur was startled by the red sword intent that Helena suddenly released from her body. It felt threatened by the red sword intent.
It knew that this red sword intent will help the human cut through its tough flesh and bones.
After fully coating her sword, Helena dashed forward again and continuously slashed at the minotaur.
This time, it was the minotaur who was being pushed back. Not only that, its halberd was getting chipped bit by bit with every strike.
The minotaur was furious, it couldn't believe that it was losing to this puny human.
It roared in rage and its pitch-black eyes turned red as blood started to flow from the corner of its eyes.
The blood solidified into runes which suddenly increased the minotaur's strength.
Helena wasn't fazed at all by the transformation though, she just continued on with her barrage of attacks.
Unfortunately for her, they were equal again in the exchanges.
Helena stepped back for a moment to catch her breath. In addition to this, she adjusted her mentality. It seems that this will be one long fight.
*ROOOOOOAAAAARRR*
This time, it was the minotaur who attacked first. Its speed and power visibly increased after the runes were formed from its blood.
It didn't give Helena any time to attack this time as she was forced to continuously defend herself from the minotaur's barrage of attacks.
After a few minutes, Helena was starting to get pissed off.
"Don't get carried away you oversized cow! HOOOOOORAAAAAAHHH!"
Helena stepped in to dodge the blow instead of blocking it. This gave her the chance to retaliate and finally, it was her turn to attack again.
It's the minotaur's turn now to defend against Helena's barrage of attacks.
The savage battle left the battalion commanders dumbstruck and their mouths were wide open due to disbelief.
They couldn't believe that their general was fighting a head-on duel against a creature who seemed to be specialized in both strength and speed.
Although it was a stalemate right now, it was amazing that a human could contend evenly with a creature such as the minotaur.
The battalion commanders were learning a ton of stuff. Not only the attack pattern combinations but also Helena's mentality as a warrior.
Finally, Helena noticed something about the minotaur. It seems to be getting anxious as time goes by and it is forcefully trying to finish the fight.
An idea popped into her mind and she smiled wickedly after realizing that this minotaur was on a timer.
It seems that it cannot keep using this runic state for a long time so it had to finish her off soon.
