Chapter 5: Gabriella Névé.
Francisca's POV
My little brother being born was one of the most… happiest days I've ever been.
Seeing that we're only a few years apart I've been in charge of him being placed in my room. It was something I didn't need help getting used to because I was used to having a little sibling sharing my room with me back home.
It was more of actually… my little sister asked me to spoil her loads whenever she had the chance to come in my room.
"Wahhh!" (Glenn) would wail in the night, keeping me awake. I couldn't be mad nor blame him for crying.
Whenever he would cry, I would go to his baby crib and try my best to sing him a song hoping he would stop not wanting to wake up our mother and father.
On times that my lullabies won't work… I suspect something else needed a change.
…
I opened the door to my mother and father's room, seeing that the two had a pillow in the middle. I ignored it and called out to mom.
"Mom?" I walked over by the side of her room and pulled her sleeves.
"Wake up! Your baby is crying." I tell her and she tries her best to stay awake rubbing the tiredness from her eyes.
"Huh? Wha- oh dear… I thought you were- Ah." When she finally noticed me looking up at her she gave me her best motherly smile. "What do you mean the baby is crying, dear?"
"I think he needs new diapers. He stinks." I tell her, feeling sorry that she had to change stinky diapers so early in the morning.
She looked over to her husband who was sleeping so soundly and looked so cold but when she turned to me it became the same old warm smile as before.
"Oh, thank you for telling me darling, now why don't you lead me to your brother so I can change his diapers?"
Gabriella Névé… a woman of mystery to me still- even after all the things I've heard?
I mean my mother was happily quickly changing diapers with such speed that I didn't even notice her being done in just a few seconds and was already off to bed.
Most people would just get disgusted and take a few more times than that!
"Oh well, your little brother stopped crying. Look how cute he is, tending himself to sleep body all fragile and so soft." (Gabby) takes a small pillow before putting it in between in the small baby's arms and just like that his small little arms were hugging it.
"Aw… so cute." she says to me in a low whisper pointing at Glenn before getting me into my own bed. "Now how about you sleep too, thank you for telling me your little brother was in need of a diaper change."
Mom tucks me in using the soft blanket I have and smiles.
"Your sense of smell is good. I didn't even know he needed a change." (Gabby) pats my head and I look up at her affectionate gaze feeling a bit warm on the inside.
I looked down towards my hands that were clenching over the blankets wanting more pat on the head… for an unknown selfish reason.
I've never gotten a pat from my mom before.
"Can you stay with me until I sleep?" I couldn't help myself from yawning.
I took one of her fingers and pulled it. Without even hesitating she sat beside me and cuddled to my side looking over to me happily. "Of course, I promised… that I'll take care of you until the day you don't need me anymore."
That… was a random sad thing to say to a little girl?
"Why… won't I need you anymore?"
Suddenly, she couldn't see my eyes.
"You're growing up too fast!" Shocked and surprised that I understood what she meant, she quickly tried to change the topic. "Oh! Just because~! You'll get it when you're older. Oh, how about a cute little plushie so that you can sleep a bit better?"
Mom raises her hands a little and soon a contract magic circle appears in her arms. "[Summon]."
Poof!
"Woof?"
?!
What in the?!
In the top of my blanket a small wolf pup with all in gray thick fur was sitting down obediently but it was really trying its best not to wag its bushy tail in our direction. "Woof."
"A small wolf pup?!" I raised my voice in excitement, but mom shushed me to be quiet, fearing that the baby on the crib might continue crying but I just couldn't help it!
"Shhh… His name is little Fenrir, and by contract mommy over here owns him for about a hundred years." (Gabby) takes the puppy wolf in her arms and places him next to me. "He can guard you while you sleep tight. He's actually a big strong wolf that can bite a huge tree, snapping it in half."
"You can summon cute wolves?" I looked at Fenrir who was absorbing my face. He takes a quick sniff over and I think that's when he felt comfortable that he started licking my cheek.
"Woof!"
Tap! Tap!
A small tapping on the window was heard but I thought it was just some random bird or insect minding its own business. It's alright! Pretty awesome that mom can summon familiar contracts like these!
"Fenrir, I place my orders for you to take care of my daughter and son here while… hmm…" she looks towards the window in a quick motion before smiling in my direction. "I take care of some business~ okay? Now give mommy a kiss before she leaves to take care of some annoying insects tapping the window, okay?"
Mom places a kiss on my forehead before taking a strand of my loose purple ear hair behind my ear and leaving looking like she was in a rush to kill all of those insects.
"Woof!" (Fenrir) on the other hand was making himself at home in my bed. I already feel a little tired from singing all those lullabies and now I feel so comfy with Fenrir's tail being wrapped around my waist.
I feel rather sleepy…
.-.-.-.-.
Meanwhile…
Several men tried their best to spy over the assassin's home.
"Do you have sight of her?" One asked looking over the window once more.
"No sir… she's left the room."
They were trying to see inside the mirror they hadn't realized they took the attention of such a fearsome person.
"Hey there… mind being quieter? Some people are sleeping at this time of night."
"?!"
The spies swallowed the lump forming on their throat but soon after a few seconds of noticing that the woman they were supposed to spy on, was now holding their necks in a tight choke hold before breaking their spines in a swift manner that they didn't even have the chance to scream in pain.
Gabby sighs frustratingly looking over the window of her children's room.
"Die a quick death and don't you dare scream, both of my babies are sleeping." she shushes them and scolds them to not scream when they were at the mercy of her hands.
The spies ran away as fast as they could, screaming. "Move! She's crazy! I told you we shouldn't have taken this job no matter how good the pay was-!"
"[Sound Magic: Noise: Erase]."
All the screams were gone… all of the sounds they were making were gone. From their moving mouths trying to plead mercy and their footsteps they could no longer hear.
"Your bodies would be really… hard to bury in this time of night but no matter. I'll have my sweet little familiar dig up a hole for you to happily put your body in once I'm done with you." She takes one of her blades and shows them to their victims as the last thing they would ever see.
Were the cold eyes of their murderer.
Never mess… with Gabriella Névé, a hero known by the public but a cold assassin when she needs to kill.
Blood was everywhere on her dress, and instead of cleaning it up the next morning she decided to throw it away and burn it.
The children must never see.
