Screams-
Scream after scream-
Eyes closed, leaking- the girl screamed again and again-
But the onslaught of magic circles and those odd lightning strikes didn't stop.
Burns-
Cuts-
Bruises…
Clothes torn… skin showing.
And more screams.
Students-
Teachers-
Various staff members were hurrying this way but-
When they realized it was Mihael- they kind of didn't bother jumping in…
Not even the teachers.
Surely- the girl must have somehow offended this monstrous god candidate enough for him to torture her, right?
Right?
Yeah- it wasn't that… apparently, the rumors about how the kid had literally knocked out a high angel, and a god candidate without even lifting a finger and then- the head mistress vouching for him throwing one particular high angel off the island… yeah- after a lot of thinking- they tried but- couldn't…
After all, most of the teachers were basically just lower tier high angels and didn't have the necessary powers or authority to stop a god candidate. Almost all the teachers who could were out on vacation for the next week.
Even so-
"Mihael!" Sarveisa stomped forward.
At first, she couldn't believe it-
When she first heard the screams-
When she looked out the classroom and saw Mihael there-
And the girl crying-
She couldn't believe her eyes.
Surely- there was a misunderstanding-
Surely-
All of this-
Was just a misunderstanding. Right?
He wouldn't just torture a girl like that without any reason, right?
Actually- what reason!?
Teeth clenched. "Please tell me, you're not purposefully torturing her?" Sarveisa said, approaching the boy. She was worried, concerned, all that. But her voice remained neutral. Heart beating a bit faster, breath going out of control. This couldn't be… right?
She was a teacher here.
She had to act the part.
And yet-
"I am not. She wanted this-" he said.
"What?" Sarveisa stared at in disbelief. As did everyone else.
Yet-
Relieved?
"Yes- please keep going-" The girl managed- Breaking off an elixir's head, gulping it down; visible wounds healing. How many had she consumed already?
"Very well-"
"ARGHH!!!" But this time-
The pain was less and the girl had her eyes open.
Her shrieks were much less violent-
And thus-
"What are you doing?" Sarveisa mumbled.
They continued.
"Extracting specific amounts of mana without any physical contact."
Chatter began to spread furiously-
"But that's not possible…"
"Oh, it's possible alright!"
He corrected the circles on the fly-
"And so many circles…" She mumbled. 'What in the world…' She'd never even imagined so many circles at once, let alone-
Finally-
Another flick-
And this time-
The girl didn't scream.
"Well? How do you feel?" Mihael asked.
Even with the lightning- she didn't scream-
She just stood there- a little dazed, staring around.
"Not bad…. It's stinging a little but it's not bad…"
"Not good enough, huh?"
He again corrected the circles, and this time, used it on himself-
Lightning fell on him, almost licking him.
"Hmm… yes- this'll do." He mumbled, finally flicking his finger again.
And securing himself in a barrier. Translucent, slightly pinkish blue.
Meanwhile-
Sarveisa stared in disbelief, as she noticed that she was actually half in the barrier and half out. "How am I not cut in half?" She wondered.
"Because I deem you harmless," Mihael said. "And yes, this remote selective barrier was what I wanted to accomplish and she wanted to help." a smirk. "Do you need me to heal you?" he offered, looking back at the girl who was now on her back, panting.
Drenched in sweat… face a bit flushed with pain- she stared…"No- instead… teach me how to do that." She drank her last elixir.
"Why?"
"So that they can't get near me anymore!"
Pleasantly surprised. 'So, she wasn't after me?' Yeah, he might or might not have gotten a little full of himself…
Lips curling a bit… "Alright. I'll teach you tomorrow." He still had to do some fine tuning beforehand anyway.
That said, holding Sarveisa's finger he kind of just walked away. Or was it that Sarveisa kind of had enough and was just taking him back to the headmistress' office?
"For a second there, I thought you were torturing her… I'm sorry for doubting you."
Some of the students and teachers dispersed while some others tried helping the girl.
All in all-
Though they did understand that it was the girl's intentions- quite a few of them couldn't really accept how a high angel like her could be tortured like this…
Or was it that they-
Wanted to be the ones… doing so?
Probably not.
"Well, it would be a lie if I said, I wasn't. But it wasn't intentional, so don't worry about it."
Sarveisa blinked a few times, trying to make sense of the situation but eventually gave up.
Some things were better left ununderstood.
***
"So, you won't share the details of that spell you just discovered?" Arnine said.
Mihael was taken back to her office.
Sarveisa was with him.
Aren, pouring some tea.
"Unfortunately, that would defeat the purpose of me inventing said spell."
"Wait, why did you invent this remote selective barrier?"
"The girls were bothering me far too much… thus I invented this Selective Anti-Women Barrier."
Sarveisa stared.
Arnine also stared-
Both just stared-
And silently giggled. "Aren't you a little too young to be concerned over that?" Sarveisa couldn't help but laugh. "And really, anti-woman?"
"Why? They were only getting in my way. Besides, as you've said, it is far too early for me to take a bride."
Again, they stared…
This time- flabbergasted.
"Bride?" Sarveisa kind of paled. "Look- you're too young and that's why I was avoiding this topic but- I think it's about time I educated you!"
And so-
Sarveisa spent the whole off the next two hours explaining to Mihael about sexuality, what was normal, what was not- and how he was expected to answer. And-
She also went on a limb and forbade him to get into a relationship right now.
He was two for crying out loud!
And in front of her own grandmother who for better or worse had her face flushed… in disbelief.
'My innocent little granddaughter…' Sufficed to say, her granddaughter wasn't as innocent as she made her out to be.
Thus ended- Mihael's second day of school….
He had actually made his first friend today… without really knowing about it of course.
