In the sterile confines of the meeting room, the air crackled with tension. All eyes were on me, waiting for my response to Shikaku's straightforward question.
"Are you Sasuke Uchiha?" Shikaku inquired, his expression unreadable.
"Yes." I confirmed, my voice steady.
Inoichi, the Yamanaka clan head, dipped his head in a subtle nod, silently confirming Sasuke's identity through his mind-reading technique.
"The historical information you presented at the academy," Shikaku continued, "is it true?"
I met his gaze unflinchingly. "Yes." Inoichi's voice echoed, "True!"
A murmur rippled through the room like a gust of wind, unsettling the stoic expressions of the gathered elders. Hiruzen, the Hokage, cast a sidelong glance at Danzo, who remained stoic, but a flicker of displeasure betrayed his emotions. Hiruzen sighed, the weight of the situation settling on his shoulders.
"Explain what you shared in class, but keep it brief." Hiruzen instructed, his voice firm yet laced with a hint of curiosity.
I swallowed hard, the scrutiny of the room heavy on my shoulders. "The Sage of Six Paths," I began, "was named Hagoromo Otsutsuki. He had a brother, Hamura Otsutsuki, who founded the Hyuga Clan."
Inoichi confirmed once more, "True!"
With each confirmed statement, the murmurs grew louder, a tide of surprise and disbelief rolling through the room. I continued, my voice gaining confidence. "He shared the concept of chakra, known as 'Ninshu' and traveled the world to spread his teachings. He later had two sons: the elder, Indra Otsutsuki and the younger, Ashura Otsutsuki. Indra inherited his father's spiritual energy and primarily used Yin chakra, while Ashura inherited his physical energy and primarily used Yang chakra."
Inoichi's voice, a monotonous yet reassuring refrain, followed each statement: "True!"
"Over time," I elaborated, "Indra displayed exceptional talent, even surpassing the Sage in certain areas. He devised hand signs to simplify chakra usage, seeing his brother's struggle and created Lightning Release and Fire Release techniques, subsequently establishing the foundation of ninjutsu. Due to his inheritance of his father's spiritual energy, he received the blessing of the unique Sharingan, the eye that reflects the heart. With this power, he developed a process of manipulating others, and created the concept of Hypnotism, now known as genjutsu. He later founded the Uchiha Clan."
Inoichi continued his unwavering chorus, "True!"
"Indra desired no recognition." I explained, "Hence this information wasn't formally documented, only passed down verbally. I learned it from a reliable source."
"True!" Inoichi confirmed, further solidifying Sasuke's claims.
The murmurs reached a crescendo, threatening to drown out the meeting. Hiruzen cleared his throat, signaling for silence.
"If this explains the lack of prior mention," Hiruzen addressed the room, his voice carrying authority, "then why did you choose to share it now?"
I, my expression unreadable, replied, "I didn't intend to. It was purely instinctive, triggered by a moment of distraction."
Inoichi once again chimed in, "True!"
"However, in hindsight," I continued, "perhaps it was for the best. This information shouldn't be lost with me."
After a tense silence, during which the clan heads exchanged hushed whispers and deliberated, Hiruzen spoke. "Based on everyone's consensus," he declared with a sigh, "we can conclude that this information appears legitimate and can be officially announced. Does anyone have any further questions or anyone who oppose this?"
Danzo, his face etched with skepticism, broke the relative calm. "I have some inquiries, if no one objects." A few heads turned toward him, irritation evident in some eyes. With a silent nod from Hiruzen, Danzo began his relentless interrogation.
"Were you manipulated into saying this?" he demanded, his voice laced with suspicion.
"No," I answered firmly. Inoichi's confirmation followed: "True!"
Undeterred, Danzo pressed on. "Is there any possibility this information could be false?"
"No," I countered, my voice unwavering. "It's entirely accurate." I cleared my throat, feigning thirst. "May I please have some water?"
Inoichi, ever the neutral observer, confirmed: "True!"
Hiruzen signaled for an Anbu to fetch the water, offering a silent reprieve from Danzo's relentless questioning. Danzo, his eyes narrowed like a predator stalking his prey, continued his pursuit.
"Are you currently under the influence of genjutsu?" he inquired, his voice dripping with suspicion.
From the moment Danzo uttered the word "...genjutsu," I felt a surge of adrenaline course through my veins. Taking a page out of Itachi's playbook, I subtly channeled chakra into my legs, initiating the delicate process of fracturing one of the wooden chair legs. Inoichi remained stoic, his mind-reading abilities unable to detect the subtle manipulation of chakra.
"I wasn't under any genjutsu when I provided this information," I responded, my voice carefully neutral. Inoichi, ever the witness, confirmed, "True!"
Danzo's voice boomed, laced with stern authority, "Uchiha, don't try to twist my words! Answer the question! Are you currently under a genjutsu?"
Seizing the opportune moment, I took a long, deliberate drink from the water offered by an Anbu, stalling for time as I silently willed the chair to break. After a grateful nod of thanks to the Anbu, he turned back to Danzo, preparing his response.
Just as I opened my mouth to speak, my crow, seemingly sensing the tension, squawked its incessant "Caw!" and began battering against the window. The discordant sound drew the attention of the entire council chamber, offering me the perfect opportunity.
With a surge of chakra, I sent a powerful burst through the chair, resulting in a satisfying snap as one leg splintered. The resounding crack and my own tumble to the floor drew further surprised stares.
Lowering my head under a veil of hair, I swiftly activated my Mangekyo Sharingan at full power, severing the troublesome genjutsu from my mind. As I sat up, a new, sturdy chair materialized before me, thoroughly inspected this time.
I, resuming my seat with a smirk, felt a wave of satisfaction wash over me. Danzo's glare intensified, but mine remained unfazed.
"Now, are you?" Danzo demanded, his voice tight with contained fury.
I met his gaze unflinchingly. "No," I declared, my voice firm. "I am not under any genjutsu currently."
Danzo, his eyes widening in disbelief, exclaimed, "The Uchiha clan? That's preposterous! Were you under some form of genjutsu just moments ago?"
