Kapitel 62: Siring A Vampire

'I'm really about to turn someone from human into a vampire... This feels like something a villain would do,' Edmund internally laughed at the irony.

Mara sat on the small cot with her back against the wall and her head tilted up slightly as she stared at the ceiling. When she heard the sound of Edmund's footsteps, she turned her head, offering him a tired smile.

"Back again?" she said softly, her voice laced with exhaustion. "You must really be fond of me."

Edmund didn't smile. He stepped closer to the bars, his voice low and urgent. "Mara, listen to me. We don't have much time."

Mara raised an eyebrow, sensing the tension in his voice. "What's going on?"

Edmund glanced down the hallway to make sure no one was listening. Then, in a rush of words, he explained his plan.

"I can save you," he said, his eyes locking onto hers. "But there's only one way to do it."
