Kapitel 2: Chapter 2 I Am Reborn
"Chloe, get up now. Back in the morning, you were still begging grandpa to meet Mr. Bruce sooner, but now it's already sunset and you are still sleeping!"
What was…going on?
The white curtain fluttered with the gentle breeze from the window, and the sunlight lit up Chloe's face, so warm that everything seemed unreal.
Chloe slowly opened her eyes, looking at the ceiling and blinking in a trance.
"Chloe, seriously? Hurry up! You really should get up now." The door was pushed open suddenly, and a graceful and beautiful woman walked in with anger.
That was, her mother, Laura Hill, who appeared elegant and dignified, but actually impatient to her daughter.
'Wait! I just…had a car accident! How comes I'm in my own room now and why does mom look so young? Was I…reborn and went to the past?'
Chloe didn't have time to think it through, because Laura directly threw a dress to her.
"Get dressed instantly. We still have an hour before leaving."
Holding the expensive dress, Chloe remembered that she was supposed to get engaged with Daniel today.
Chloe swiftly got up, cleaned herself, got dressed and went downstairs. She showed up quickly in just less than 20 minutes.
"Well, whenever you hear Daniel, you will definitely speed up." Laura smiled.
Chloe's face flushed, "I need to see the makeup artist."
She went to the dressing room but before she opened the door, she heard someone talking inside.
Weird... When did she have two makeup artists?
She was confused for a moment, and she didn't open the door. Instead, she came closer to listen to them out of curiosity.
"Miss Brown, I can assure you that I have already mixed the powder you gave me into the foundation. We shall wait to see her make a fool of herself."
Miss Brown? Nancy Brown? Why was she here?
Chloe was even more confused. In her memory, she never saw Miss Brown in the dressing room. Was she too excited to notice Miss Brown was also here?
Chloe kept quiet and continued listening.
"Miss Brown, I always feel that you and Mr. Bruce will make a great couple and stay forever."
Mr. Bruce? Daniel Bruce? How was he involved?
Suddenly, Chloe covered her mouth in surprise. The next second, the coldness crept up on her. Did Nancy pay the make artist to set her up for Daniel's sake?
No wonder her face swelled up like a pig because of the allergy, embarrassing herself before everyone at the wedding banquet. Later she became a living joke among all ladies. She blamed herself for being too careless. But now she knew it was Nancy's scheme!
What a fool she was! She had never suspected Nancy and regarded her as her good friend.
Then, Chloe left quietly.
She sneaked out of the villa, taking a deep breath. 'You want to set me up? Wait and see!'
Chloe checked her phone and found her mom had been calling her several times.
She typed a message quickly. "See you in the hotel."
At noon, the Grand Hotel.
Luxurious cars were lining up before the hotel, all coming for the engagement banquet of the son of the Bruce Group and the daughter of the Johnson Group.
Suddenly, a taxi stopped here, standing out among the luxurious cars
As the car door was opened, a beautiful young lady in a red dress walked down, becoming the focus of attention instantly.
"Chloe." Someone recognized her.
Chloe turned around and smiled brightly, "Mrs. Vicky!"
Vicky Baker was Daniel's mother, and she liked Chloe a lot, treating her like her own daughter. They used to be very close until...
"Chloe, watch out! Be careful with all the cars!" Mrs. Vicky sounded nervous.
Chloe was lost in memories, and before she noticed, a car drove straight at her.
She retreated, spraining her ankle. Just when she thought she was going to embarrass herself, she fell into a warm and strong embrace.
"Chloe, are you okay! I'm so worried!" Mrs. Vicky was still in shock, and she came over to check on Chloe at once.
Chloe hesitated for a while before she smiled, "Mrs. Vicky, I am fine."
As she looked up at the man who just saved her, her heart was thudding.
He was looking at her with a frown.
"Mr…Mr. Bruce." Chloe blinked, swiftly escaping from his arms like a little hamster, "Thank you."
Then she lowered her head ready to leave. She still remembered so vividly about their frustrating marriage and her suffering and pain. Given a second chance, she swore not to repeat the same mistake!
"I am really sorry. Did I hurt you, Miss Johnson?" An elegant lady walked down from the car.
Chloe politely smiled to her, "Nancy, I am fine. Not a big deal."
Nancy was also a guest today. Her father was once the attending doctor for Grandpa Bruce and even saved his life. So the Brown family and the Bruce family were naturally very close. Nancy and Daniel also knew each other since childhood.
If Chloe didn't hear the conversation between Nancy and the makeup artist this morning, she would still foolishly regard her as a good friend.
Luckily, it was not late to find out the truth now!
Seeing Chloe and Daniel looked so well-matched, Nancy felt so jealous!
She tried her best to calm down and faked a sincere smile to Mrs. Vicky, "Mrs. Vicky, long time no see. How are you doing lately?"
Mrs. Vicky just nodded, suddenly smiling happily, "Laura, you are here."
Laura and Mrs. Vicky had always been besties. So the moment they met, they greeted each other warmly.
While Chloe wanted to leave first, knowing that Laura would blame her for sure.
"Mrs. Vicky, can I ask Mr. Bruce to show me around?" Chloe smiled sweetly at Daniel as if they were really a loving couple.
But in fact, Daniel had just returned from abroad and thus didn't see her very often.
"Chloe still likes hanging around with Daniel." Mrs. Vicky looked at her gently with love and care.
"That's right. Chloe always followed Daniel when she was little. She was drooling and even wiped her face with Daniel's sleeves. They looked so adorable."
Everyone knew that Daniel was obsessed with absolute cleanliness since childhood. No one could imagine he could tolerate Chloe's saliva.
"Wow, Miss Johnson was so... cute when she was a child." Nancy interrupted, unwilling to be left alone.
