Kapitel 431: In the End, Batman Bears It All

Harvey Dent ultimately died, Batman pushed him off a tall building. Does this count as personally killing someone, breaking the no-kill rule?

If it does, then Joker wins in this game. He not only destroyed Gotham City's bright and beautiful future but also made Batman personally take a life.

However, from Batman and Commissioner Gordon's attitude in the video, they clearly don't consider Harvey Dent to have died at Batman's hands.

Or, let's be flexible about the no-kill rule. As long as Batman doesn't have malicious intent and personally pulls the trigger to kill, then it doesn't break the rule.

Moreover, a fallen and corrupted Harvey Dent alive poses a greater threat to Gotham City than his death. From this perspective, Joker truly manipulated their thoughts tightly.

No wonder Commissioner Gordon in the video spoke in a despondent tone, but Batman remained resolute: "No, people won't lose hope, and they won't know what he did."

Commissioner Gordon, disheartened, said, "He killed five people, two of them were police officers... you can't erase that."

Batman shook his head, "No, we can't let Joker succeed. Gotham City needs a real hero."

He crouched down and turned Harvey Dent's face to the side. What was once a horrifying skull facing up, now revealed the half with a normal face.

It was this face full of vitality, determination, and justice that gave the people of Gotham City a glimpse of the hopeful future.

Commissioner Gordon glanced at Batman, guessing what he was about to do, and couldn't help but say, "No, don't do this..."

Batman, in a calm tone, said, "Either sacrifice life for justice or live a long life, sitting and waiting to be in league with villains... even if I commit evil. Because I'm not like Dent, I'm not a hero—I'm the one who killed those people, as always."

Commissioner Gordon, as one of Batman's partners, knew more than anyone how much the Dark Knight silently sacrificed for Gotham City.

However, Batman's actions couldn't gain unanimous recognition and praise like Harvey Dent's.

Those people protected by Batman often saw him as a despotic enforcer, leaping around at night on high buildings...

Batman knew this, but he didn't care. He said solemnly, "For Gotham City, I can become any kind of person... let the police in."

So what if he's a monster?

As long as it's for the future of Gotham City, even if people see him as a devil plunged into the abyss, wanting to condemn him, Batman doesn't care!

Seeing this, many viewers outside the screen were surprised, and didn't expect Batman to willingly take on this blame that didn't belong to him, choosing to become a wanted criminal by the police instead of the hero who saved Gotham!

"Wow, this... I really didn't expect it. What's the meaning of Batman doing this? Silently working hard, sacrificing everything, but people misunderstand him. He's clearly a hero, yet he doesn't get the applause and praise he deserves. What's the point of doing this?"

"Yeah, Batman didn't need to go to such extremes. Harvey Dent may not be that important. If Batman is the true guardian of Gotham!"

"No, you're wrong. Harvey Dent represents legal justice, understand? Batman is different; he's a vigilante who disregards the law, but it's not his fault because legal procedures are always slow. To efficiently deal with those criminals, you have to use unconventional methods outside the law. But at such times, it's hard to maintain your principles. Because laws, order, and morality are the shackles and restraints that trap people, and once you've tasted the feeling of breaking free from those shackles, you easily lose your way and can't go back. Your bottom line and principles constantly compromise until you eventually become one of the villains, just like the fallen Harvey Dent. I understand Batman... that's why I admire him even more. He's a true hero! He has seen the darkest evil but always adheres to the light in his heart!"

This future video made more people understand Batman.

Honestly, before this, people's impressions and feelings about Batman were quite simple. Those who liked and admired Batman saw him as a cool superhero, equal to gods with his mortal body.

After seeing numerous superheroes exposed, Batman seemed to have nothing special compared to characters like Captain America, Iron Man, Wonder Woman, Thor, and others.

People who disliked Batman felt that this guy, always speaking in a dark and gloomy voice, pretending to be mysterious, seemed good at pretending but was actually dark inside.

Batman always seemed to question everything, as if everyone else wasn't trustworthy except him. This self-righteous attitude indeed made many people dislike him.

But now, even those who disliked Batman began to realize the difference between Batman and other superheroes. He is a guy born for justice.

For the sake of justice in his heart, Batman can give up everything!

To be honest, this obsessive personality is somewhat similar to villains like Thanos, the Ninja Master, and no wonder Joker taunts Batman, calling him a madman like himself.

Of course, this doesn't mean Batman has to be better than other superheroes. It's just that in Batman, people see both pure justice and obsession and madness lurking in the darkness.

In The Eternal Space, Peter Parker admires Bruce Wayne, "Mr. Wayne, you've shown me true greatness!"

Commissioner Gordon also sighed, "Bruce, you sacrificed and gave too much for Gotham... luckily, all of this has been exposed, and people won't misunderstand you."

Arthur, smiled, saying, "In the end, you still won against the Joker. He probably didn't expect you to defeat him in this way."

Bruce Wayne remained calm, even though he hadn't experienced the events in the video yet.

But since the moment he decided to become Batman, Bruce Wayne has been mentally prepared for all of this. He has long been ready to face it all.

"No, it's not the future me defeating the Joker, it's justice overcoming chaos and evil," Bruce Wayne glanced at Arthur and said in a deep voice.
