Kapitel 22: MEETING PARENTS PT2

I nodded, my voice gentle. "Yes, Mom. I didn't die in the sense you thought. I... I had a second chance at life, in a different reality."

My father's gaze was intense, his eyes searching mine for the truth, "I... I still remember that day when I entered your room... You were sleeping so peacefully... I tried to wake you up, but... You were in a deep sleep," He stood up from the sofa, "Do you know how hard it was, you brat? Do you know how hard it was for me to... to... No father has to bury his own son!" He broke down, tears streaming down his face.

I felt a lump in my throat, my eyes burning with unshed tears. I didn't know what to say, how to put into words the feelings that churned within me.

I walked over to him and embraced him, "Dad, I am sorry. I am so sorry."

He hugged me back, his grip fierce as if afraid to let me go. "Damn, you're real! I can feel you. You're back!"

"Yes, Dad. I am back."

"I can't believe it!" My mother stood up and joined our embrace, her arms wrapping around us both as she cried happy tears.

The three of us stood there for what seemed like an eternity, a family reunited at last. We shared tears and laughter, emotions running high as we came to terms with the unthinkable.

"I don't know about the wish-giving beings, but I trust Max and Sarah... And I believe you..." Mom said as she the scar on my arm, "The scar you got when you fell while riding your bicycle. I remember you were so scared back then that you even refused to ride a bicycle for a year after that. You're really Travis." She kissed me on my forehead.

Mom wiped the tears from his eyes, his voice thick with emotion, "Come here, girl."

Sarah stepped forward and was engulfed in a warm hug. She sniffled, her eyes watering as she hugged my parents back.

"Thank you," Mom whispered into her ear, "Thank you for bringing him back to us."

"You have no idea how much you've given us," Dad added, his voice filled with gratitude. "We've been through a lot these past five years, but knowing that Travis was alive somewhere, doing well and living a good life..."

My heart swelled with emotion, and I swallowed hard, struggling to find the words to express my feelings.

"I... I am so grateful," I finally said, my voice choked with emotion. "I missed you guys so much."

My parents hugged me again, and we stood there for a moment, basking in the joy and relief of being reunited at last.

My gaze turned to Sarah, and I smiled. She smiled back at me, her eyes filled with happiness and love.

I felt my heart swell with an indescribable emotion.

"But... What about your parents and your friends from your other world?" Dad asked concerned.

The question hung in the air, a reminder of the complex web of relationships that spanned across two worlds. My parents' concern for the people I had left behind was a testament to their empathy and understanding.

I took a deep breath, considering how much to share about the alternate world and the relationships I had formed there.

"When I left home that day, Mom and Dad told me to kick the villains' butts and save everyone. It was an all-out war for survival. They knew it might be the last time they see me... But they held back their tears and cheered me on."

My heart ached as memories from the alternate world flooded back—the battles, the camaraderie, the sacrifices. My friends there had become a family, united by a shared purpose and the drive to protect what was dear to us.

"They became my family too," I continued, my voice soft yet resolute. "In the other world, I found friends who stood by my side, allies who fought with me, and mentors who guided me. We faced incredible challenges and stood up against powerful adversaries. I can't deny that my time there was filled with hardships, but... There were also moments of happiness... So, don't worry. They are strong..."

I tried to smile, but my vision went blurry.

"I somehow managed to stop him. So, they must be proud of me, yeah?"

Dad put his hand on my shoulder.

"They have every reason to be proud of you," Dad said, his voice steady with pride. "You've faced challenges most people can't even imagine, and you've shown resilience, courage, and determination throughout it all."

Mom nodded in agreement, her eyes shining with admiration. "Travis, you've grown into an amazing young man, no matter which world you were in. We couldn't be prouder of you. Believe me, we parents are stronger than anyone... They are proud of you, son."

I blinked back tears, feeling overwhelmed by the warmth and support of my parents. Despite the years of separation and the complexities of the situation, their love remained unwavering.

"They'll be okay," I said, my voice filled with conviction. "They're strong, just like you said. And I have faith that they'll continue to do their best to protect the world and the people they care about. And I will one day find a way to meet them again and tell them not to worry that I am alright."

"I am sure you will find a way. We are with you, Travis," Sarah said with a warm smile.

I nodded, grateful for their understanding. "Thank you."

We spent more time talking, sharing stories, and catching up on the years that had passed. Laughter and tears filled the room as we reminisced about old memories and embraced the new reality that had brought us back together.

As the evening sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow through the windows, my heart felt full. The love of my parents and the presence of Sarah were the constants that anchored me in a world that was both familiar and uncharted.

"Travis, we might not completely understand the details of the alternate world you lived in, but we can see the person you've become," Dad said, his eyes filled with pride. "And that's what matters most to us."

"You're our son, no matter where you've been or what you've experienced," Mom added, her smile gentle. "We're just happy to have you back in our lives."

I hugged them both tightly, a feeling of gratitude and belonging swelling within me. The journey ahead was uncertain, filled with challenges and mysteries waiting to be unraveled, but in that moment, surrounded by the love of my parents and the unwavering support of Sarah, I felt a sense of strength and purpose.

As the evening turned into night, we sat together, sharing a meal and continuing to bridge the gap between the past and the present. The warmth of the family bonds that had been rekindled illuminated the room, and I couldn't help but feel that even though my path had taken unexpected turns...

I was exactly where I needed to be. But, wouldn't it be better if all my friends and family could sit together one day and enjoy a meal together?
