As soon as man entered the spatial rift, he emerged in a place completely different from the forest he had been in.
The expression on the man's face was truly astonished; he remembered this place, but now it was much more luxurious.
This place was the domain of his Su family; only those from the family could enter the spatial rift.
The exit of the rift opened up to a majestic scene where there was no ground but numerous floating islands.
On these islands, there were tall, imposing buildings and numerous luxurious constructions, all connected by bridges made of rare materials. Numerous people walked on the bridges, while others flew swiftly.
And in the middle of all these islands was an even larger island; it was absurdly large.
On this island, there was a large white castle with blue accents, surrounded by gardens that encircled the palace like a beautiful masterpiece, with very rare flowers and herbs and ancient trees.
This place was filled with extremely concentrated Qi and, mainly, spatial energy.
The man saw that everything was more luxurious than ever, and then remembered the messages he sometimes received at the southern-continent branch.
'The family has grown in these last fifteen years more than in the last five hundred years.'
'And this was all because of just one person,' he thought to himself.
Then he quickly flew towards the immense white castle.
As soon as he arrived at the huge floating island where the castle was, he saw a person standing in the air.
It was a handsome middle-aged man; like him, he also had dark blue hair, and they looked very much alike.
As soon as they saw each other, smiles appeared on their faces.
"Brother Jin, you've finally decided to visit the family again," said the man with a smile as he approached him and hugged him lightly.
"Big brother, I have important news for the family and decided to come personally. Is my father here?"
"Yes, he's in the banquet hall of the castle; we were waiting for you to arrive; almost everyone is gathered today."
"Did you know I was coming back to the family?" Su Jin asked, confused.
"Was it Su Mingli who told?" He asked with a serious expression.
"Yes, she said you would be coming to the family soon; she told you to meet her after the banquet," the big brother replied as he began to fly towards the immense castle.
Su Jin followed him in silence. The person they were talking about before was his younger sister, the youngest of fifteen siblings.
The oldest was five hundred years old, and the youngest, she, was only eighteen.
He had only seen her once, fifteen years ago, when she was just three years old, but she left a deep mark in his mind. Despite being the youngest, she is the father's favorite and the young lady of the Su family. She is likely to become the family leader when their father passes on the command, but this is known only to those who live in the Su castle.
In the rest of the family and the continent, she is known for only one thing: being almost at the top of the list of celestial geniuses at just eighteen years old. This was a list created a few years ago by an extremely mysterious old man in old clothes who suddenly appeared on the central continent.
Despite being among the top ten geniuses on the list, she had never appeared to anyone, and no one knew of her abilities or appearance, only imagining that she must be a terrifying person to have her name on the list.
After some time flying, they arrived at the castle, which was the residence of the family leader, his wives, and their children.
The Su family was enormously large, but not all were part of the family's command. In this castle, only the most important members of the Su family live.
Most of the Su family, considered secondary branches, lived on the countless floating islands around the castle.
The two entered the castle and continued flying inside it, stopping only when they reached a huge white door adorned with numerous golden designs.
As they approached, the door opened on its own, and they entered.
In the room were several familiar faces, seated at a large table. All his brothers and sisters were present, except for Su Mingli.
In the middle of everyone was a muscular man with a large scar on one of his eyes. Like everyone else in the room, his hair was dark blue, as was his large beard. His expression was fierce, but as soon as he saw Su Jin entering the room, he smiled.
"You've arrived; sit down; we have much to discuss," said the man in a firm voice.
Su Jin nodded and sat in one of the chairs.
Then a long conversation began.
**************
On the Trail of Eternal Winds, there was darkness; night had fallen, making it impossible to see an arm's length ahead.
The storm was as strong as ever, and the only light they had was when lightning struck nearby, creating a momentary illumination.
Despite this, Ling Xue could see everything perfectly. Li Yuemei, though slightly worse off, could see almost everything around them.
On the trail, only the sound of extreme wind and thunder could be heard.
"Look, the storm seems to be getting more intense," Li Yuemei said, pointing to the sky above them, where lightning streaked across the skies, increasing rapidly.
"Yes, despite the lightning falling close to us, we will soon reach where the book said, so if we're lucky, none will strike us."
Ling Xue had said before that they were beginning the dangerous part, as they were now ascending towards the mountain peak.
This part of the Trail of Eternal Winds ended in the storm clouds, posing significant risks of being struck by the storm.
The storm was several times worse at night, so Li Yuemei was concerned about the numerous lightning strikes illuminating the rocky environment.
The two were silently advancing in the barrier, the pure ice barrier flying rapidly up the trail.
After a while, Ling Xue made them stop; they were extremely close to the immense clouds, and the sound of thunder was deafening.
The circular ice barrier descended from the air and set them down on the black stone ground of the trail. Then he looked to his left.
Carved into the earthen wall were two columns of stones with an ancient aura. They bore numerous ancient symbols, unknown to them, but they knew what they meant, as described in the book.
"These are the Storm Gates? It looks more common than I thought," Li Yuemei said after seeing the two stone columns embedded in the earth.
"It doesn't seem to be anything special, indeed, but we'll find out as soon as we try. As soon as we enter between the columns, we'll be guided through the storm," he said as he began walking towards the earthen wall between the columns.
Li Yuemei followed him closely. Then, when it seemed they would collide with the wall, their bodies passed through the earth as an indescribable sensation enveloped them.
They were now in a mysterious place; the ice barrier was still around them, but it was making noises and seemed like it would crack quickly. Ling Xue quickly reinforced the barrier, making it extremely thick.
The constant roars of the storm and the howls of the wind had disappeared as soon as they entered this place, replaced by a deep silence. Ling Xue was not using his influence over pure ice to float, but the barrier with the two of them was floating on its own, giving the sensation of being suspended in the void. Above them appeared to be numerous stars and constellations shining brightly.
Then, sometimes the constellations disappeared, and numerous other landscapes appeared. They saw the spatial storm at times, as if they were inside it, but at the same time, they were not.
"It's as if we're in a different world," Ling Xue said, as his normally cold expression showed traces of curiosity.
"This is the secret of the Trail of Eternal Winds. We are in a place like a different space or dimension, protected from the storm," Li Yuemei said as she looked at the constant change of landscapes around them. The space there was rapidly expanding as the two floated wherever this spatial rift was taking them.
This chapter was longer because it will be the only one today. I'm eager to write this part quickly, as I'm excited about the upcoming fight, which will be soon. I also want to thank those who have been reading so far and using their power stones, as it's encouraging me to continue writing. If you have any questions about the novel or have tips you'd like to share to improve it, please leave them in the comments. Have a good read.
