The hatchling, the exile, the ancient dragon… it all swirled in his head, but the moment his senses returned to reality, all of those thoughts were violently pushed aside.

His eyes snapped open, and the cold void of space welcomed him once more.

The first thing he did was look down, heart pounding with an intense dread. Mira's lifeless body still rested in his arms, her skin pale, cracked like porcelain, just as before. Nothing had changed.
