Kapitel 99: The Walk of Shame

Yellow stood in the doorway, her skin settling into calm tones now that the tension had finally drained from the room. Her eyes fell on Blue, who was still lying on the medical bay bed, his hair a wild mess and his hospital gown barely hanging onto him after Pink's sudden departure. Her lips curled into a smirk, a playful gleam dancing in her eyes.

"Looks like you get to do the walk of shame," she teased, arms crossing over her chest. "You dirty, dirty man."

Blue let out a soft laugh, shaking his head as he sat up slowly, his muscles aching in protest. Yellow... making a joke? That was a much better outcome than the accusations of treason she'd hurled at him not so long ago. He'd take it. He ran a hand through his hair, trying to smooth it out, but it was still a tangled mess from the chaos Pink had left in her wake. His body felt wrung out, but the tension from earlier had lifted, leaving room for something lighter.

Just as the laughter began to subside, Echo chimed in, her voice as calm and composed as ever, providing the steady counterbalance she was known for. "Blue, you've just been through a significant trauma—would you like me to request psychological assistance? Dr. Zeddicus Zophram has availability for emergencies at any time."

Blue blinked, caught slightly off guard by Echo's directness, but it wasn't the worst suggestion. He leaned back against the bed, his mind still swirling with the aftermath of Pink's... antics. Did he need help? Red had been his anchor for so long—ten years ago, they had something, something real. But since she'd come back, she hadn't said a word about it. No hints, no acknowledgments. It was like their relationship didn't exist anymore.

And now, Pink... she had gotten to him in a way he hadn't expected.

Everything had changed since Ceres. He had changed.

Blue wasn't the same man who had stood beside Red back then. He had been hardened, twisted by what he'd seen, by what had happened, and now, things that once would have been unthinkable were just part of his life. Shameful things that gnawed at him—things that Pink had dragged to the surface, pushing boundaries he hadn't even realized were there.

He exhaled sharply, giving a small shake of his head. "Nah, Echo. I think I'll pass on Zeddicus for now." He grinned slightly, trying to push aside the darker thoughts. "Besides, I'm not sure if I need help or just a good nap."

Yellow raised an eyebrow, her skin shifting slightly, amusement radiating off her as she leaned against the doorframe. Blue smirked, unable to resist a little dig of his own. "What? Don't Aquitarians have group spawning? Like a fish fertilizing a bunch of eggs?"

Yellow's reaction was instant. She burst into laughter, her skin flashing bright with humor, and she doubled over, shaking her head. "That's not exactly how it works, Blue," she giggled, wiping a tear from the corner of her eye. "But I'd be more than happy to explain the fish and the coral to you." She winked at him, her version of the birds and the bees clearly a source of amusement.

Even Echo joined in, her voice tinged with a playful tone. "Blue, I do believe a lesson in Aquitarian biology could be quite educational. It might provide you with some... perspective."

Blue grinned, leaning back against the bed again. "I'll take notes," he quipped, his own laugh breaking through the weariness that clung to him. The room felt lighter now, the awkward tension finally evaporating.

But beneath the jokes, a question lingered in the back of Blue's mind. The events that had just unfolded with Pink had left him reeling, but something else was brewing. He looked at Yellow, tilting his head slightly, curiosity creeping in.

"So," he said, the humor in his voice fading as seriousness took its place, "what did you find in the simulator? What were you and Echo doing down there? You came in like you'd figured something out."

Yellow straightened up, her smile slipping away as the weight of what she had discovered returned to her mind. Her skin shifted into a more neutral hue, signaling her focus had shifted back to the mission. She exchanged a quick glance with Echo, who nodded slightly, signaling it was time to get down to business.

"We've been running simulations on Ceres," Yellow explained, stepping closer to the bed. "Trying to piece together what went wrong, what we missed. Echo and I were analyzing the data, trying to replicate the scenarios that led to... well, everything."

Echo continued for her, her voice cool and precise. "Our findings suggest that something significant was overlooked in the initial mission briefing. There are gaps—gaps in the data, gaps in the timeline, and now... we're starting to see patterns."

Blue furrowed his brow, his mind already starting to turn over the possibilities. "What kind of gaps?" he asked, his tone serious now, the humor from earlier completely gone.

"We don't know for sure yet," Yellow admitted, her frustration evident in the subtle shift of her skin. "But something was off during the mission—something bigger than we thought."

Blue let out a sigh, his mind already racing back to Ceres. The nightmares, the impossible odds... there had to be more. He looked at Yellow, his voice low and steady. "Then I guess we'd better figure out what that is."

Yellow nodded, her skin pulsing with determination. "Yeah. We need to get to the bottom of this. Before it happens again."
