His ocean-blue eyes flashed with controlled anger. "I trust the Nysorian justice system will see fit to sentence her to life imprisonment without parole, in our highest security facility at Mount Krasnov."

Before the judge could respond, Avery's lawyer Mr. Thompson rose, his weathered face twisted in an ugly sneer. "Your Honor, consider carefully what ruling you make today." His voice dripped with thinly veiled menace. "The consequences of ruling against my client could be... far more severe than you anticipate."
