Kapitel 5: Chapter 5: Pikachu

Taking the Poké Ball from Professor Oak, Ash felt a surge of excitement and determination. This was it—his first Pokémon, the beginning of his journey as a Trainer. Taking a deep breath, he threw the Poké Ball forward.

"Come on out, my buddy!"

The Poké Ball spun through the air, released a burst of white light, and landed on the ground. The light took the shape of a small, four-legged Pokémon, and as it faded, a familiar figure appeared.

"Pika?" The Pokémon's voice was curious as it glanced around, its large eyes scanning its surroundings.

The Pokémon stood on its hind legs, covered in bright yellow fur. Its long ears had black tips, and its red cheek pouches hinted at the powerful electricity it could unleash. A lightning bolt-shaped tail completed its look.

Ash's heart raced as he took in the sight of his new partner.

"Pikachu," he murmured, recognizing the Electric Mouse Pokémon from the stories and his studies.

As Ash stood there, a strange voice echoed in his mind, catching him off guard.

"Achievement unlocked: Received an Earl Dervish Pokémon. Reward: One free lucky draw."

"New features enabled: Achievements and Target Tasks," the mechanical voice continued.

Ash froze. The system… he thought. Although he hadn't heard it speak before, he instinctively knew it was a special feature tied to his journey.

There wasn't time to dwell on it now. Ash turned his attention back to Pikachu, who was watching him warily.

"Hello, Pikachu," Ash said, crouching down to meet its gaze. "My name's Ash. From now on, we're partners. Let's work together and be friends."

Ash extended his hand cautiously, fully aware that Pikachu might not trust him yet. He knew this Pikachu's wild nature meant it wasn't particularly friendly to strangers. He was prepared for anything, even a shock.

"Wait, Ash!" Professor Oak exclaimed, alarmed. "Don't—!"

But to the Professor's astonishment, Pikachu didn't attack. It tilted its head, looking at Ash's hand thoughtfully. After a moment, Pikachu raised its lightning-bolt tail and lightly tapped Ash's hand.

Ash smiled warmly. "Thanks, Pikachu. I know we're not close yet, but I'm sure we'll become great friends soon."

Pikachu hesitated, then gave a small nod, turning its face away shyly. It could sense Ash's sincerity, something about him felt trustworthy.

Professor Oak was stunned. "I don't believe it," he muttered. "I've tried interacting with Pikachu many times, but it's never been this calm. Even I haven't formed this kind of bond."

Ash glanced at the Professor, grinning. "So, does this mean I'm officially a Trainer now?"

Oak nodded slowly. "Yes… yes, it does," he said, still marveling at the scene before him.

The Pokédex and Poké Balls

"Now, there's something else I need to give you," Professor Oak said, recovering from his surprise. He retrieved a red electronic device and six empty Poké Balls from a nearby table.

"This is a Pokédex," he explained, handing it to Ash. "It's a portable Pokémon encyclopedia and an essential tool for Trainers. It identifies Pokémon you encounter and contains your Trainer information. You'll need it for gym challenges, Pokémon Center visits, and official League events. Keep it safe, and contact me immediately if it gets damaged."

"Got it," Ash said, taking the Pokédex and Poké Balls with care.

"And one more thing," Oak added with a smile. "The Pokémon League has compensated you for the earlier mishap. You'll receive 3,000 yen per month for one year."

Ash's eyes widened. "Really?!"

"Yes," Oak confirmed. "The League originally intended to provide compensation for six months, but I decided to cover the additional time myself."

Ash was speechless. "Thank you, Professor," he said, bowing deeply.

Oak chuckled. "No need to thank me. I believe in your potential, Ash. I've seen many Trainers over the years, and I think you have what it takes to go far—even as far as the Elite Four or the Championship itself."

Ash's heart swelled with gratitude. With the monthly stipend, he could support his journey and focus on training Pikachu and catching new Pokémon.

A Unique Bond

As Ash prepared to leave, he turned to Pikachu. "So, Pikachu, do you want to go inside your Poké Ball?"

"Pika!" Pikachu shook its head vigorously, looking almost offended.

Ash laughed. "I figured you'd say that." He pocketed Pikachu's Poké Ball and extended his arm. "How about riding on my shoulder instead?"

Pikachu hesitated for only a moment before jumping onto Ash's arm and climbing to his shoulder. It felt natural, as if this was where Pikachu belonged.

"Looks like you two are already getting along," Oak said with a smile.

Ash nodded. "Thanks for everything, Professor. I'll see you again soon!"

With Pikachu perched confidently on his shoulder, Ash stepped out of the lab. His journey as a Pokémon Trainer had officially begun.
