Monday before last.

After being placed under house arrest, Yolanda Benjamin Tilley (27) and Desmond Tilley (29), the parents of 12-year-old Albert Tilley, are currently being pursued by the Johto Regional Police in BLACKTHORN. Albert Tilley has been accused of fleeing their residence along with his parents.

On August 16th, Albert Tilley was given the responsibility of becoming a Pokemon Trainer. He did not make it in time to catch a Pokemon. When the Johto Regional Police located Tilley and his family, they placed them all under house arrest until a representative from Pokemon Lab could visit.

The house was empty, and all of the essentials for survival, such as food and clothing, had been removed before the police arrived.

A statement was issued by the Johto Regional Police, which read: "The law was broken by Tilley, and now his parents are doing the same thing. We will definitely come across them. Even though this occurs not nearly as frequently as many people may believe it does, we have been very successful in preventing runaways."

It was not until the afternoon that we finally arrived in Cherrygrove. The journey there was uneventful; all I can recall is passing by a large number of trees and fields that were covered in swellow. My mind kept going back to the time when I was kicked out of the house without so much as a warning from my parents. I had hoped that they would at the very least take some action... I never got the impression that they disliked me, but they still let me go without much of a fight. No reluctance. No nothing.

My dad hit me. When I first left home, that was the very last thing I could recall remembering about him. It was almost as if he had completely transformed into a different person. I couldn't understand how, of all people, he could turn out to be so unfeeling. He had been instructing me in how to throw a baseball for a couple of weeks prior to my departure. It was difficult to wrap my head around everything, and it didn't help that the more I contemplated it, the more upset and irritated I became.

The haze from the morning lifted, and the day became completely clear. The town of Cherrygrove was quite small, and most of the businesses there were made of wood. If that makes any sense, there was a greater proportion of grass than concrete. As far as I could tell, there were no roads in the town, so it was probably not on any of the maps. I stood on the outskirts of the town and contemplated the next step that I ought to take. I was a kid with four hundred dollars and I didn't know anyone in the other town, and as far as I knew, I didn't have any aunts or uncles either. I reasoned that checking into a hotel for the night would be the most prudent action to take. It would be ideal if I could just have a room to myself for the entirety of the day so that I could reflect on the situation I was in. It didn't matter how warm it was outside; deep down inside, I was shaking, and that's why I had to be behind a door that couldn't be opened.

As I made my way through the town, I observed a number of people going about their daily routines, such as sweeping their porches, tending to their gardens, and other similar activities. I was looking for somebody that I could easily approach with the question of where I could spend the night. I was successful in my search for a store. While working outside, the gentleman there was seen wearing an apron and putting fruit into baskets. I decided that he might be approachable, so I asked him if there was an inn in the area.

"Definitely." He indicated the path I was going to take by pointing in the direction I was walking. "Just carry on in that direction. It says "Cherrygrove Inn" on the sign that is in front of it. It is impossible to ignore it in any way."

I thanked him very much. I had just taken a few steps away from his shop when he called out to me. I had just turned around.

"Hey, I'm sorry to interrupt, but can I ask if you're a Pokemon Trainer?"

I had finally become a Pokemon Trainer. "Yeah, I am."

He informed me that his store had just gotten a delivery of PokeBalls and other medical supplies for Pokemon. He asked me if I wanted any, which brought to my attention the fact that I was in possession of a Pokemon at the time. I started to become aware of the PokéDex's presence in the right pocket of my hind right leg. I let him know that we couldn't do it today, thanked him, and said goodbye.

A few minutes later, I was able to locate the inn. Due to the fact that it appeared to be an exact replica of a two-story house, it exuded a warm and welcoming atmosphere despite neither its size nor its level of sophistication. My first impression of the inn was nearly ruined when I walked in and was confronted by two children who were having a loud argument.

A young man and a young lady were arguing about whether or not they ought to engage in a Pokemon battle against one another. The boy appeared to be younger and was noticeably shorter than the girl. He screamed in an extremely trembling voice that he did not want to fight against, and he appeared to be extremely terrified of her. He appeared old and had dirt on both his clothes and his skin. The young lady was exerting all of her efforts to convince the boy to engage in a duel with her, and she promised to part with some of her wealth to him if he were successful in defeating her. She informed him that it was likely possible for him to purchase another night at the inn. She had a blonde ponytail that was swinging in the back and wore a red bandana over her head. Her black shorts had strings sticking out of them, and her red sleeveless coat had wrinkles all over it. Her legs were covered in a combination of scratches and scabs that had healed but left marks. She appeared to have suffered more wear and tear than the boy, but I did not detect any sign of fear in her. She was a head taller than the boy, so if she hadn't told him that she'd give him some of her money, I would have assumed that she was a thug who was threatening him. However, she did tell him that she'd give him some of her money.

In the end, he conceded defeat and accepted her challenge. She led him out of the house and onto the street. They were warned by the innkeeper, an elderly woman who remained inconspicuous throughout the entire event, not to cause any damage to the property. The young lady assured everyone that she would exercise caution in her response, which she conveyed with a face brimming with self-assurance.

The young man was seen standing in front of the house that was directly across from the inn, looking pitifully around. He was instructed to "stand in the middle of the street" by the girl who was yelling at him. He did so like an obedient dog. She got a few metres away from him before turning around to face him again. She yelled out in order to inquire about his name.

His response was far too subdued. I didn't pick up on his name at all. She probably didn't know either, but she didn't seem to care about it at all.

"I introduce myself as Alice Rowan. Good luck! I hope the person with the most skill wins! The victor has at least one Pokémon remaining in their team."

She was the first one to throw, and it was a blue turtle. I quickly whipped out my PokéDex and discovered that the Pokemon in question was a Squirtle and that it belonged to the Water type.

The youngster threw away his Pokemon card collection. An Eevee. One of my former neighbours kept one as a housepet when they lived in that house.

The young lady was taken aback. "Wow! You are very fortunate to own one of those! Where exactly did you get it?"

The young man struggled to get each syllable out. "I... I began with it..."

It appeared as though she was unaware of the boy's demeanour. "You have some crazy good luck, that's for sure! Since I requested that you engage in combat, the initiative lies with you."

The young boy appeared disoriented. He commanded his Eevee to "...Attack? ", and it did. The tan and brown puppy did nothing but sit there and lick its white mane.

She waited for the right opportunity, and then she instructed her Squirtle to give it a headbutt. The large blue turtle charged the Eevee and struck it with the top of its bald head. This caused the Eevee to fly into a wall, where it made a loud impact before bouncing to the ground. It made me feel bad for the creature. It appeared dazed and was having trouble getting back up while making a whining sound.

The young girl yelled to her Squirtle, telling it to use its water gun attack. The Squirtle gargled and expelled water at such a high velocity that it could have been used as a watering hose for a fire truck. The Eevee was thrown against the wall once more by the water. It didn't bother getting back up after it was knocked back down to the ground, either.

"Good to see you, Shredder! You did awesome! You won again!" She let out a yell. The Squirrel appeared to be having almost as much fun as she was. They both ran towards each other and affectionately embraced one another, her laughing and her Pokemon giggling in contentment as they did so. She re-encased it in its PokéBall before continuing.

The young man did not behave in such a manner with his Eevee. He looked at the body of the creature, which was motionless, then at the girl who was standing up, and then back again. He gave me a brief glance before turning his attention back to her. It appeared as though he had white saucers for eyes, and his mouth was slightly open, with the bottom lip trembling.

She stood back up on her own two feet, placed her hands on her hips, and continued to stare at the boy. Since it was obvious that she had just won, I wasn't sure whether she was contemplating what to take from him or whether she was waiting for him to throw out another Pokemon. I couldn't tell which one she was doing.

"I may have gotten ahead of myself there...

I didn't consider the possibility that you have any more Pokemon in your collection. Do you?" Her demeanour was a little bit arrogant. The sound of her voice caused the uppermost part of my stomach to rumble slightly. Her voice had a feminine quality to it, but it also had a taunting tone. In my opinion, she turned into a cruel person.

Her adversary informed her that he did not have any more Pokemon. She inquired as to the amount of money he possessed. He reported that he was nearly prepared to make it to Ecrutek City with what he had. It took him a very long time to accumulate enough money from odd jobs, and he didn't want to risk losing too much of what he had worked so hard for, so he gave her ten dollars from his pocket and explained his reasoning.

Because of the way that she had been speaking before, I had the impression that she was going to ask for more, but instead, she accepted what he had to offer.

How many badges do you have in your collection? She inquired of him.

He responded by saying that he did not have any.

"Get yourself three then. The next town over has a gym that is populated by trainers who specialise in Flying-type Pokemon. Recuperate and hone your Eevee's skills. It ought to be able to earn you the first badge in the collection."

Still lying on the ground and in pain was the Eevee. I could hear its squeaking from a great distance away despite the fact that it had a laboured breathing pattern and we were physically separated. The dog's master gave it a call. He inquired as to the location of the closest Pokemon Center to him. She guided him in the right direction and then watched as he continued on his journey. I spent the entire time standing at the entrance and observing everything that went on. When we were ready to go back inside the inn, she walked up to me. She ascended the stairs until she was at the same height as me. She was about a head and a half taller than I was. Alice looked up at me, and I turned my head to look down at her.

"Are you a fitness instructor as well?"

I was startled when I thought of June. "Nope."
