Paige could read through Emelia's facade, what this was about. Not only was she making sure she gets rejected but mocking her.

"Well, you know," Emelia continued, "I'm just saying this so you wouldn't think less of us for marrying her off."

Merline's eyes widened in shock, her mouth agape as she stared at Emelia in disbelief. "Oh? Is she trying to trying to ruin things?" she whispered to her Kelvin., her voive barely audible.

Paige's eyes darted to Emelia, her expression anxious and shaken. She tried to maintain her composure, but her hands betrayed her, fidgeting nervously in her lap. Clinton's gaze flicked to her, and he raised an eyebrow, noticing her distress.

Clinton's eyes filled with understanding and concern as he gazed at Paige. Without a word, he reached out and placed a reassuring hand on hers, his warm touch calming her frazzled nerves. Paige felt a surge of gratitude towards him, her eyes meeting his in a silent thank you.
