Kapitel 40: Chapter 39: Training (3)

Hah… I don't know what to feel about this if I'm being honest with you.

I was mad. Knowing that I and I alone was somehow left behind amongst a lot of people really changed my impression of Rena by a huge margin. But now that I'm hearing all of these words, I find her more pitiful than horrible.

If I look back at all those days, I spent hanging out with her, I realized just how far she's been keeping this a secret from me. Did she feel bad for suddenly abandoning me after promising all those things? No… knowing Rena she probably felt bad just for leaving her team behind without any proper reasons. All while she didn't even want to abandon us in the first place.

But as I think about it… Her case just becomes more and more confusing. What was the reason why she abandoned us, who was responsible for doing so, and why she's not doing anything about it? From all those stories and observations, I received from her, I have come to realize how stubborn she is. There was a time that despite her father's strong rejection of her practicing her Flame manipulation ability, she instead hid and trained otherwise. And that says a lot as her father was someone she fears yet pursues to surpass.

This case wouldn't really be applicable to this scenario as these many eyes wouldn't let Rena hide her operations that well as the training one, but was she really someone who would just stop and act all meekly and unmotivated like the one I saw before going in the teleporter?

Was she just embarrassed by the fact that she abandoned us?

Well, no... I'm sure that expression and body language were not simply from embarrassment. It was more from fear and hopelessness.

Why though? Why was she afraid in the midst of Sense? Was it a person?

Was it the unknown factor that was clearly leading Reign's side?

And why were Rena and the twins, Jane and James, so awkward with each other? They are the last person who would be mad at Rena for abandoning and stopping this whole thing.

Their only purpose was to support her regardless of what she does so why?

As I try to analyze all the pieces to this problem, I just continue to build more questions than answers.

Tsk… this is getting complicated. I might just be overthinking things and it isn't as serious as it seems to be. But in case it does, I might have to prepare myself.

Being alone without any support on this battlefield was already a huge headache that I have to face, but now there was this looming thought about Rena and the reason why she was afraid.

If I'm not careful here, this place might be my graveyard.

" Yang stop. You don't have to convince losers in joining us if they don't want to. "

" Fuck did you say you bitc- "

[ Fear ]

" Exactly what it is you bastard. Listen here, if you want to lose this training you don't have to be an annoying mosquito yapping all that nonsense. "

" I have a lot on my mind right now, so if you want to survive for a few more minutes and not die here, I'll suggest going back to your corner instead. " I say all while attacking him with the full force and might of my ability. I didn't bother to focus it on him, as my ability doesn't have a large enough range anyways for the kobolds to be affected too.

I mean It was mainly due to me being stressed out by all of these things, that I suddenly burst but it isn't too bad. Besides, I should show off a little to instill fear in their side so that in case these people are sent to somehow annoy me, they would be reluctant in attacking me. As for my friendlies, I have to show off somehow so that I could build their trust and follow me in my plan without any reluctance that could cause us out chance.

Anyways, I disabled my ability the moment he fell to his knees. I was using the full force of my ability so most of my energy was sapped. I still had some reserves with me, but it seems like I was quite annoyed this time around.

" Hah… " Yang and the others gasped for air the moment I stopped my ability, but they weren't on their knees like the others, as I did put their well-being in mind.

" Sorry about that. I hate when mosquitos fly next to my ear. A childhood trauma just kicked in you know. " I say with an awkward smile, as I did accidentally use my ability on them, and only weakened it when they already experience it for a second.

" Hah… well damn. Remind me not to get on your bad side ever. " Yang laughs while patting me on the back, trying to help me lighten up the mood and have the others not think about it badly which worked out well, as they laughed with Yang the moment he says so. The fact that they also probably hated the guy from Reign's side was a bonus, but regardless, it all went fine even though I somehow went a little overboard.

Not befitting of an actor who's supposed to be good with emotion to burst out like that suddenly, but I'm a human before anything.

Patience is a virtue I have only when it's fit to have.

On the opposite side of Sector 46, Reign and his squad were currently camping on an abandoned building far away from the kobold Lair. If someone sees them at this moment, they will probably think that they don't even consider winning at all. But it's not like someone would see them, as they were the farthest away from the objective of this training, the kobold Lair.

Most of Reign's squad was standing at the front of the building while he, Jian, and their close friends, mainly the ones responsible for trying to beat up Mon, went inside.

" You're finally here. " A deep and husky voice suddenly comes from the shadows. It was clearly a man just judging from the voice and his silhouette.

" Sir! " The moment they hear the voice, Reign and the others suddenly kneel on the floor bowing toward the unknown man.

" Have you seen her at all? " He asked all while fidgeting with a small bell keychain hanging on his left arm.

Though it was relatively quiet due to its small size, the bell was the only thing Reign and the others could hear, reverberating throughout the empty building.

" No sir, she's hiding quite well and from what we think, not moving at all. " Reign replies with an obvious hint of nervousness in his voice.

" Of course, she won't. This little trick of hers had fallen into crumbles. She won't be a problem now. " He whispers in his already deep voice, making it seems like he was grumbling.

" Then did we succeed? " Reign who seemed to have been overtaken by happiness the moment the man said so, looks up with a huge smile on his face. Like a huge weight on his chest suddenly vanished.

But it seems like his joy was taken as an insult as the man without even raising his voice, says calmly. " Put your fucking head down. " With a wave of his hand, Reign's head suddenly fell to the ground as quickly as he rose it to the point that the concrete floor managed to crack.

Reign who wanted to scream from the pain, tried to scream but stopped himself as he realized who was in front of him.

" I…. I'm sorry sir… " He stutters trying to hold back the pain.

...

" Anyways, we would've already succeeded… But there's one more problem that's been lingering on my mind. Something even I didn't expect. " The others couldn't help but flinch at the sudden thought that something exists out there, that this monster couldn't even read.

" Mon Weise. " The unknown man grunts, causing Jian and the others to suddenly clench their fist in anger the moment Mon's name escape the man's mouth.

" From what I feel… He's a bigger problem than that bitch. I can't read him, and due to his background, I can't hold something close to him. " He says with a clear sound of annoyance in his voice.

" He's someone that needs to be handled. So the final step to this plan of mine is to make sure Sector 46 becomes Mon Weise's grave. "
