This idea just kind of struck me randomly while I was laying down. I know it's been awhile since I last posted anything; this was due to me kind of having lost a lot of motivation to write these ideas. I do not plan to stop writing these any time soon, however the updates will likely remain inconsistent unless I suddenly get some of my motivation to write these back.
Moving on, here's the idea: using the world of Danganronpa as the main setting, the characters, in place of the usual cast, are the main characters from various works of fiction. I'll leave most of which characters are involved to your discretion; the only character I really wanted included is Ayanokouji from Classroom of the Elite, and he doesn't even have to be the Main character if you don't want him to be. It might actually work out better if he's a strong supporting character, or otherwise someone who works in the shadows instead. Anyway, the cast can either be entirely intelligent characters similar to most COTE mega crossovers, or you can make the cast more diverse in terms of talents and abilities just like in the Danganronpa games.
To be more precise about the setting and timeline of events, this can take place during the first game or the second, just please don't make it the third. I hate the third game's ending with every fiber of my being, even if the characters themselves weren't bad. Of course, if you want to do so anyway, I can't really do anything to stop you; I probably just won't read it, which also likely doesn't matter much at the end of the day.
As for the timeline of events, if you're having the first game be the time and setting, then this will be unnecessary for you, but if you're having the second game be your time and setting, then here's what I suggest: you can either just have the first game go as it canonically does in Trigger Happy Havoc, making your second game's plot much more difficult to make original, or you can use the first game to make a massively intricate, unique plot themed around the new characters you have introduced in place of the original ones.
What I mean by this is simple: the plot is going to have to change to account for these new characters you'll be introducing. If you have it follow the same plot but with minor differences to suit the characters' personalities, then that isn't going to be a very enjoyable read for most. (At least, I think so. I could be very wrong in that regard.) If, however, you make the plot entirely your own, a plot not focused on the events that took place regarding Hope's Peak Academy, or Monokuma, Junko, the Remnants of Despair, or even Ultimate Talents… you can make an entirely new, original story out of this.
If you still don't understand, what I'm saying is that I want Danganronpa to be the base for the plot, in terms of it having two killing games, (the first and the second), it having the same locations for those killing games, and there being class trials and such to decide who killed who. Instead of the original characters, however, I want crossover characters, and an entirely different plot. I want none of the original characters to be involved, and I want even the mastermind to be a different character.
There can be no exceptions, unless you want to somehow tie this alternative sequence of events into the original Danganronpa storyline, which is an option. What I mean by this is that you would not combine the two worlds, or even any of the crossover worlds, but have it be some kind of multiverse threat situation where all of these characters were brought form different worlds to be a part of the killing game, albeit without any of their potential supernatural powers. (That would get confusing and far too complex really quickly, especially if you include too many characters.) In this scenario, you could reference the original Danganronpa world, and maybe even bring in a few characters from it, but it would have to be in a subtle way or near the end of the story. You could have the original Danganronpa world having been hijacked by this multiversal threat and transformed into a new world to their liking, or something.
Whatever the case may be with how this story is written, if it ever is written, hopefully my absurd ideas are at least enjoyable. My next update could be days from now, or it could be months or even years. I don't know, but I will come back to this someday. That will be all for now, I suppose.
