"You're late," Elijah deadpanned.

"I know, I know, I'm sorry I got held up at the studio. Some of the students needed help with the choreography and I stayed behind to-"

"Who needed help?"

"Oh you know, the usual suspects. Tiffany, Eric and-"

"Neil?"

"Yeah... Anyway, did you need anything before I get back? I'm gonna make a quick stop at the supermarket."

"No, I'm good."

"Are you sure? How about some bubble tea? Chocolate milk?"

"No thanks."

"I'll get you some anyway, in case you change your mind. Huh?" He paused briefly and Elijah could hear a familiar voice talking to him in the background. "Nah, think I'll pass... I really can't tonight, Elijah's waiting for me... You guys take care. Hey, Eli. Sorry, the guys were inviting me to go karaoke with them."

"Right... Anyway, just get home soon. Or don't. Up to you."

"Why, do you miss me?" He could almost hear the cheeky grin in his voice.
