"Uncle?" Shu Qiqi glanced over to Shu Changning's side, just to find that Leng Yichen had left without her noticing.
"Qiqi, come here. Your uncle has something to tell you."
Shu Qiqi glanced out the door and thought: Since Tongtong is already free, other matters can wait. The priority is to get back my mother's belongings from Shu Changning.
"Uncle, where did Leng Yichen go?"
"He received a call and said there was an important matter to deal with."
Shu Qiqi didn't mind: "Uncle, now that I am married into the Leng Family, can you give me my mother's belongings?"
"Qiqi, your uncle knows you want your mother's belongings in order to find your birth father. In fact, these past years, your uncle has also been searching for your dad."
Shu Qiqi was skeptical: "Uncle, you've been looking too?"
"When your mother suddenly became pregnant, we naturally wanted to know who the other party was. Your mother kept it a secret so well that, even after so many years, we've only managed to find a few clues. Look, this is the news that came from abroad a few days ago."
Shu Qiqi looked at the photo and documents Shu Changning handed her, and she began to believe him somewhat.
Shu Changning continued: "The Shu Family has so little to its name. If we want to continue searching for your father, we need to ensure that the Shu Family can survive."
"What do you mean, Uncle?"
Shu Changning had always been indifferent to her. Speaking to her so much out of the blue, he must have had a motive.
"Here's a supplier contract. Find a way to get Leng Yichen to sign it."
"Uncle?"
So Shu Changning's target was Leng Yichen. No wonder he wanted her to bring him back to the Shu Family.
"The Leng Corporation has so many suppliers each year; adding the Shu Family wouldn't make much difference. But for the Shu Family, having a client like the Leng Corporation could save the entire company."
Shu Changning said softly: "Qiqi, only if the Shu Family stays afloat can your uncle promise to help you find your dad, understood?"
Shu Qiqi didn't fully trust Shu Changning's good intentions, but she had no better alternative at the moment. Her own power was too insignificant, and with her mother's belongings in Shu Changning's hands, she could only follow his lead for now.
She pinched the contract in her hand: "I'll try, but I can't guarantee that Leng Yichen will sign it."
Why would that man listen to her plea? Yet, she had to try.
Meanwhile, Leng Yichen returned to the company.
Qin Ran walked into the office trembling with fear: "President, the person has been brought here."
"Let her in."
Leng Yichen's first thought upon hearing from Qin Ran over the phone about the location of the necklace was that the woman from the plane had been found.
Leng Yichen's inner desire to make amends was strong considering the woman with whom he'd forcefully taken her first time.
No matter who she was, in the future, she would only be his wife, Leng Yichen's.
The office door opened, and a man was pushed in.
A dark, dangerous aura flashed in Leng Yichen's eyes, sweeping over Qin Ran.
Qin Ran's legs went weak with fright: "President, he insists the necklace is his."
"Give me the necklace."
Leng Yichen said just four words, and the man was so frightened that he knelt down: "Big brother, the necklace is really mine, just tell me how much you want for it."
The man wasn't wrong; the necklace came into his possession through debt collection; it was his.
Leng Yichen got ahold of the necklace and with just one look knew it was his.
The thought of something that belonged to his woman appearing on this man ignited rage within him: "Take him away, and beat him until he tells the truth."
Qin Ran knew he'd botched the job again and, not wanting to be hit, quickly dragged the man on the ground out of there.
Leng Yichen stroked the necklace in his hands: My girl, where exactly are you?
Thinking back on the sex that was forced and bone-deep, Leng Yichen's gaze grew darker and deeper. A sense of longing arose in his heart.
