Kapitel 112: Chapter 112: Lin Yan's Unexpected News

Grand Line, Sabaody Archipelago

Zephyr's face was a mixture of concern and confusion as he observed Lin Yan's contented demeanor.

"Lin, weren't we here to recruit Aokiji? You don't seem worried at all," Zephyr finally blurted out, unable to contain his curiosity any longer. The mission they were on was perilous, potentially pitting them against a formidable Admiral, or worse, the entire Navy. Zephyr had braced himself for a challenging ordeal. Yet, here was Lin Yan, seemingly unperturbed, savoring his meal.

"What's the rush?" Lin Yan responded with a chuckle, after swallowing his food. "Timing is everything. When the moment is right, you'll have your role to play, Zephyr. Relax and enjoy the meal; it's excellent."

"I'll pass," Zephyr replied with a forced smile, his mind preoccupied with the looming dangers. Unlike Lin Yan, he couldn't ignore the threat they might face. Zephyr admired Lin Yan's carefree attitude but couldn't share it.

Lin Yan noticed Zephyr's tense expression and laughed. "You need to loosen up. The world's not ending. Enjoy the food, get some rest—"

He stopped abruptly, his gaze sharp as a seagull delivered the day's newspaper. Lin Yan set his food aside, picked up the paper, and began to read. Suddenly, his expression changed from calm to stunned.

Zephyr, noticing the change, asked, "What's wrong?"

Lin Yan was silent, his shock evident. Zephyr, growing concerned, took the newspaper from him. As he read, Zephyr's eyes widened. The headline was startling: Aokiji had returned to Navy Headquarters, but there was no sign of Akainu. The implications were clear.

"It seems Kuzan won," Zephyr muttered, a mix of surprise and intrigue on his face. Both Aokiji and Akainu had been his students, and while Akainu was generally seen as stronger, the loss of his arm during the war had weakened him significantly. Zephyr felt a sense of relief at Aokiji's victory; it meant a more measured leader for the Navy.

Turning to Lin Yan, Zephyr said with a wry smile, "It looks like your plan has hit a snag. Aokiji becoming Fleet Admiral isn't bad news for us, though. He's a predictable leader, unlike Akainu."

But Lin Yan was speechless, struggling to process the turn of events. According to his knowledge, Akainu was supposed to win. Now, Aokiji's unexpected victory had disrupted his plans. The realization that his actions had contributed to this outcome was frustrating.

Zephyr, misinterpreting Lin Yan's silence as disappointment over the failed recruitment attempt, tried to console him. "Don't be too disheartened, Lin. Recruiting Kuzan was always a long shot. This result is far better than having Sakazuki as Fleet Admiral."

Lin Yan remained deep in thought, grappling with the unforeseen consequences of his actions.

Meanwhile, at the World Government:

The atmosphere was tense as the Five Elders convened, faces grim. One of them, an elderly man with a stern expression, broke the silence. "Aokiji has won. What are our thoughts on this?"

The group exchanged uneasy glances before one elder, known for his impatience, spoke up. "The Admirals are becoming increasingly unreliable. The failures at Marineford and now this... it's unacceptable."

Another elder, tapping his cane thoughtfully, added, "We're not here to complain but to strategize. Aokiji's character makes him a liability; he might not follow our orders. Remember Ohara?"

The room grew colder as they recalled Aokiji's controversial actions during the Ohara incident. There was a collective murmur of disapproval.

"We cannot allow Aokiji to become Fleet Admiral," another elder declared. "He's too independent, and his past actions show he might defy us."

The Five Elders knew they had to act decisively to maintain control over the Navy and prevent Aokiji's ascent to power.
