Kapitel 69: Alex's Deal
"So what do you say 'O Mighty King of Drum Kingdom', care to hear this brat's proposition?" said Alex as he looked at the king while waiting for his answer. The king was very interested in hearing what this young man is going to say because of the rumors he has heard about this 'Asura Hands' Alex. He was an infamous pirate who has just entered the Grand Line and has been increasing his bounty through his actions. Like beating up Captain Smoker and stealing a ship from the dock of the Marines in Loguetown.
Even if the king was interested in Alex's deal on the inside, he would not show it since he had to weigh his options because he cannot just trust a pirate who barged in his throne room. He had a reputation to keep as he absolutely cannot bend towards the will of the pirates that come to their island. This is because if he did it every time, the whole island would have been enslaved by pirates already.
After thinking for a while, King Rapol finally answered "Alright 'Asura Hands' Alex, what is your proposition for us today?" Alex smirked and answered "I want to put Drum Kingdom under my protection, which means your island and kingdom would be one of my territories. And in exchange, you would provide us doctors for my fleet in the future since Drum Kingdom is a place that has a reputation of having great doctors."
The king's advisors went mad when Alex finished his proposition as they don't want to be under a pirate. Their voices sounded throughout the throne room.
"What a joke proposition! Do you think we would submit to your demands, pirate?" said one of the advisors.
"We already have the World Government protecting us, so you best not irritate us or we'll call the Marines on you." said smugly by another advisor who looked like the right-hand man of the king.
While they were voicing out their opinions, Alex's eyes never left the king as if trying to guess what his answer would be. The king was also looking at Alex's eyes while thinking about what he should do since he can see that this young man right in front of him would certainly become a powerhouse-level figure in the future. His decision would not just affect the present but it will also affect his and his kingdom's future.
If he agreed now, he was not betting on the current Alex as he knows that Alex cannot contend with the other powerhouses, at least not yet. It had just been over a decade when the Pirate King Roger died due to being executed and there has been a lot of candidates on who would be the next Pirate King. Figures like Kaido, Whitebeard, Big Mom, and even Shanks who just entered the Grand Line are the frontrunners, but he could see that there would be a dark horse that would enter the race late but does not fall behind them.
Wanting to test the young man, King Rapol asked "Why should I agree with your proposition? For your information, I could ally with anyone since doctors are very much needed anywhere. So, I will ask again. Why should I agree to you?" Alex just gave him a grin and said with confidence "Because I will become the Pirate King and turn this world upside down." with some of his aura leaking out to which the king noticed.
The king has naturally seen this kind of aura from his many years of living and he is very familiar with it as he thought 'Impossible! This kid also has it too! Although he does not know it yet, he has the aura of a King or what they call Conqueror's Haki. I knew that this kid had something special in him. Maybe accepting his deal would prove the right choice in the long run.'
Alex was getting impatient, but as he was about to talk, the king suddenly said "Alright Asura Hands, you got yourself a deal. We will help you with your medical staff problems while you help us protect our territory."
After King Rapol said that, one of his advisors named Polagio, who was his right-hand man, went crazy as he said "Your Majesty! This is very dangerous! We don't even know if they will fulfill their end of the bargain since they are pirates. Why don't we just depend on the World Government since they are more stable than these pirates who we don't even know if they can last another week while out on the sea." This got his king thinking and Polagio thought he won as he thought 'I will make you see the worth of the World Government so that you won't settle with these scum.'
But it did not change anything since King Rapol said "I know, but they have the potential to go up against the World Government in the future and I trust my judgment that this would be beneficial for all parties be it short-term or long-term.
Polagio did not take this lightly as he thought 'I should probably report these to the Marines since this might become the downfall of our whole kingdom. I will kill King Rapol and make it look like these scum did it. Then, I will help the King's son, Wapol, to the throne and I will control him so that I will essentially have Drum Kingdom in my hands.'
Alex who was paying attention to his advisors suddenly, after using his Observation Haki, felt a hostile intention towards him and saw that it was the right-hand man of the king. He also saw that his aura was dark as he was looking at the king and it did not take a genius to find out that he has bad intentions towards the king and them. 'It seems that I have to take him out quietly so that my plans don't go to waste.' thought Alex as he whispered to Robin "Find out everything about the man beside the king. And when I mean everything, I mean everything that I can use to blackmail him like bribes or any crimes he has committed." Robin nodded as she would start with this the moment they leave the throne room.
'Alright you bastard of an advisor, let's see what you are planning. If you do something stupid, I will get rid of you cleanly without the crime possibly pointing to any of us.' thought Alex as he looked at the man beside the king.
