Kapitel 39: DAGGERS

Vreihya's P.O.V

"Kypper, look at this," Mino excitedly showed the boy I was now holding a child's clothes. I could see the delight in Kypper's eyes because he liked the blue outfit. He nervously nodded to Mino, who swiftly handed the garments to the salesman to put in the container before taking a few more.

We used to wrap Kypper in enormous garments when we traveled, but now his underwear is the only thing that covers his body. We've arrived in a town outside the territory of the kingdom of Calixtas. We disguised ourselves once more by donning merchant attire.

I instantly paid for the purchased child's clothes; Mino was overjoyed and put the first thing he had into Kypper, who wasn't ashamed to strip because he didn't have any malice yet. Mino instantly complimented him, saying, "Hey! You look handsome." To be honest, I admire Mino for doing this to the child.

He appears to be the child's biological father. Even earlier in our voyage out of the frigid woodland, he kept asking Kypper whether he was getting a cold so he could double his protection against it. He also told him stories about wolves he had read in books. Kypper laughs at most of this because the rest of it is untrue.

"Mama?" Kypper called, looking at me as he gently tugged my cloak. "Do I look good?" he said, his blue eyes staring at me. "Of course! You are as stunning as papa," I quickly replied as I fixed his hair. "So you think I'm stunning, huh?" Mino murmured, and I looked at him, but he turned away.

"Of course you are!" I said, and he quickly glanced at me with his lips parted. What's the deal with that reaction? There is no disputing that he is stunning in my eyes. We were surprised for a few seconds, but both Mino and Kypper gripped their tummies because it growled like they wanted to eat.

They are truly like father and son. "Go there first! I'm going to buy something for a bit," I said to them, pointing to an eatery that had a few people already inside. They both hurried towards where I pointed, and I chuckled since Mino almost fell over a rock in his excitement.

"Take care of your pet," says the salesman, who spoke without even glancing at me. Because of what he said, my sharp gaze was immediately drawn to him. "What do you want to point out?" I asked forcefully. "His eyes are blue, young lady, which implies he is an alpha's kid. Many would kill for that kind of wolf," he informed me solemnly.

"The selling of blue-eyed wolves is currently in full swing," he murmured quietly while correcting the folded garments he was selling. "Why do they need wolves like him?" I questioned seriously, and he stared at me. "They take the eyes and sell them at a high price because it is believed that whomever possesses those can lead a pack of wolves that includes the wolf whose eyes were taken."

I went into the eatery where Mino and the boy had entered earlier. I couldn't endure the salesman's discourse any longer. I noticed Mino, who appeared to be waiting, while Kypper's chin lay on the table, as if unhappy. What happened to these two?

I approached promptly, despite the fact that it was extremely difficult to get around due to the large number of vampires and creatures present. Almost every round table has someone sitting and eating at it. There are also merchants who dress like us, as well as women who entertain. When I approached, the two sat appropriately.

"Why haven't you ordered anything to eat yet?" I inquired. "I'm not sure how to order here," Mino said softly, and I quickly struck my forehead. Oh! He has no idea how things were done in this type of eatery. I quickly took a prepared variety of food, got out a pen, and circled the ones I wanted to eat.

I quickly knocked three times on the table, and a vampire appeared next to me. She was dressed in a crimson uniform, and her long hair was down. She graciously took my encircled menu and quickly left. The food was placed in front of us a few minutes later.

The two didn't waste any time and took a bite and ate. However, I was alerting myself while sipping hot soup. I could sense eyes flying over our table a while ago, but I knew they weren't aimed at Mino or me.

It appears that we will have a difficult time leaving town without being hunted. I know our dining companions are ordinary vampires with no magic like us nobles, but I can't utilize power since I can't risk being detected.

I immediately stated a prayer, and all of the plants in the dining table became my ears. Each table, thankfully, has a little pot with a red plant planted in it. "I heard Princess Vreihya's mate is a mortal," I heard from the opposite end of the table. I heard a woman's voice while hearing the man she was speaking to laugh.

"Has the princess lost her mind? Why would she mate with a race that is considered as prey?" he mocked. I shifted my hearing to the table next to it because continuing to listen to them made no sense.

"That boy's eyes are blue. Get our comrades ready. We'll make some money," a man with a gruff voice said quickly. "What if the two merchants with him fight?" his friend exclaimed, his voice harsh.

"We'll also pluck out their eyes and feed it to the vultures," he boasted, as they both laughed crazily. I couldn't help but grin. Even if I don't use magic, I can kill them. I listened to the other tables for a few more minutes but received no additional insight.

"Why aren't you eating?" Mino said, bowing heavily since he didn't want to be identified since he needed to remove his mask from his face in order to eat. I do the same thing. "Mino, take it easy on the food; your stomach isn't used to that kind of stuff," I urged, but he just kept taking bite after mouthful.

And because he won't listen to me, Kypper and I have had to cover our noses countless times due to Mino's farting. We are currently traveling out of town towards Calixtas through a forest. "That's what I'm saying, Mino; I beg of you to dump that out!" I yelled angrily as he embraced his aching tummy.

"Is there a comfort room here? I need to take a shit!" he cried, clutching his buttocks as if something was about to come out. "Tell me, princess! Something is peeping already!" he shouted, crossing his knees to stop what he said was peeping.

"Kypper? Can you accompany papa to take a poo in a nearby river?" I instantly asked Kypper, who was holding back his laughter due to Mino's condition. Kypper approached quickly and pulled the hem of Mino's garment as if he was ready to pass out. "Follow me, papa," he murmured sweetly as Mino followed him. He was still clutching his buttocks and stomach as though trying to keep anything from coming out.

When they are already afar, I instantly face a large tree. My lips curved into a smirk. "Get out of there!" I said fiercely at the creatures I could sense following us. I immediately sensed one of their comrades sprinting towards Mino's direction.

But his eyes widened instantly when I sprang out of nowhere and blocked his path with a kick that shoved him back to the large tree where his buddies were hidden.

He quickly vomited blood, and his five other companions came out. They each drew their deadly daggers. "Just give us your pet wolf!" shouted the man, his voice hoarse. My lips formed a grin. "When you manage to hit me even once! My pet is yours," I stated arrogantly, and they all chuckled.

"A lady merchant! You think too highly of yourself," laughed the man with the harsh voice. "We will definitely enjoy your body when we get the wolf," the man added again in a hoarse voice as he licked his dagger.
