Kapitel 271: Kind Of Random, I Know

Carter had been uncharacteristically quiet this whole time and looked up at his mom curiously. "We're gonna stay with Mr. Adam?"

"Yeah, baby. Just for a little while," Callie reassured him.

He didn't seem bothered in the slightest. "Yay! I can practice my magic tricks more!"

This was all happening so fast. It was incredibly convenient but were things really going to be okay if they stayed here? Carter might get even more attached this way and that would cause all sorts of problems. But it wasn't like she had any other choice. This was her best option right now.

Callie had to protect herself. She couldn't let herself fall victim to a man ever again. She had been a wreck the first time and couldn't take care of her son if she went back to that dark place.

Everything was going to be fine. She had to believe that.

Being a temporary live-in housekeeper/caretaker wasn't the end of the world. She could handle this.
