In the midst of an infinite black sky, 3 pale moons illuminated the starless midnight sky.
The moon, also the biggest, was called The Lunar and 2 smaller moons circling it were called Lunaris and Lunaria.
The light from the moons outshined every other sky and made it a reflection of the endless dark sea beneath it.
A lone shadow could be seen traversing under this night sky in the beautiful moon light.
The shadow flew close to the ocean as it was exhausted and in excruciating pain but it held on.
CREAK
FLAP
Its wings creaked as it moved them. It's breath heavy, it was gradually losing altitude.
Its kin abandoned it but it could not blame them. After all, a monster was currently residing on its back. This monster killed its mother and turned one of his siblings into meat paste.
But even so, the bird continued to carry the monster on its back.
Why? Because in nature, the weak bow to the strong.
This simple knowledge was embedded in its very being the moment it was born. The best it could do was to seek land and hope the creature spares it when the time comes.
If it weren't for the fact that it was a hybrid of its mother's species and father's species, it would have dropped dead hours ago.
The ability it inherited from its father makes the moonlight rejuvenate its body but it gradually decreases in efficiency depending on what time it is. It is at its strongest during midnight but gets weaker when the time gets closer to sunrise.
The time was running out, the sun would rise anytime now, but the distance it needed to reach its destination was too.
Soon, the horizon brightened up, revealing the silhouette of large cliffs a few kilometers ahead.
The sunlight hit the bird on the back, waking somebody up.
He stirred from his sleep and slowly opened his eyes.
Ice cold air blew straight to his face, annihilating any trace of sleepiness left in his body.
'How did I sleep in this environment?' He asked himself.
[HP; 1,022/1,120]
[Energy: 101/1,470]
[Mana: 1,000/1,000]
"So hungry" he mumbled in a dry voice while his stomach rumbled.
He furrowed his eyebrows 'And thirsty too.'
"But if I'm in this condition then you must be even worse." He said to the bird, now half-dead.
"Now that I'm awake, I should do something. We're flying pretty close to the ocean for my tastes. Although, there shouldn't be anything too bad this close to the coast." He wondered while looking at the sharp edged rocks and a terrifying cliff that could be called the cliff of death ahead of him.
Aster controlled the wind to boost the bird from below and tried to lessen the burden on the monster.
The distance between them and the dark sea increased again, it went from being barely dozen meters to multiple dozen.
Aster sighed. They should be safe with this altitude. Or so he had thought.
Aster used the rope harness to guide the bird towards a big rock that was protruding from the ocean, he wanted to give the little guy, or a girl, a rest as soon as possible.
With harsh waves constantly hitting the rock and eroding it, it has obtained a pointy edge. It would be quite hard to climb on top of it and lay comfortably so he used a multitude of wind slashes to make a straight surface.
SLASH!
The tip of the rock fell down 20 meters and plunged into the sea.
PLOB!
The noise it made would have been loud if there weren't waves constantly hitting the rocks, making noises like bombs going off.
With his intelligence attribute nearing triple digits, magic used by him became deadly and destructive enough to slash a rock with air. But it was nowhere near destructive enough for the future.
He tried to support the monster as much as he could but it collapsed as soon as it got on top of the surface, giving the two a harsh landing.
The surface carved by Aster had an uneven circle like shape and had about 4 meters diameter but the beast took about ⅗ of that.
Aster hopped off the monster and loosened the ropes a bit, then took a good look at it.
Its once silvery white feathers turned red by his blood, its heavy breathing and twitching muscles all over its body made it seem like a great beast who triumphed in a horrifying battle and was on its deathbed if one didn't know any better.
It didn't win a horrifying battle but it did something equivalent to it. It traversed thousands and thousands of kilometers, running from other beasts and carrying a half dead human without resting a single bit.
Aster felt thankful towards the beast. It helped him a great ton, even if involuntarily.
"I should wash the blood" He said to himself.
He climbed down the rock and said with a little hint of enthusiasm.
"Water magic, here I go!"
He focused on his sensory skills and concentrated on the water particles.
Water particles were a bit trickier than air since it's constantly moving and it has a considerable amount of force binding them together but he was sure he would manage.
That was until he actually tried it.
'The water… it's not accepting my mana!? Is that even possible?'
He tried and tried again but to no avail. The water elemental particles were simply not listening.
He kept trying for dozens of minutes trying to control the water. It wasn't a matter of cleaning the bird anymore, it was a matter of talent and self confidence.
'What, just what is wrong with this water? Or is it wrong with me? Damn, I wish I had that pearl, I will kill those damned demons! But how am I gonna do that if I can't even extract a few liters of water?'
*Sigh*
'Forget it.'
Aster climbed up the rock again begrudgingly and reached the top and found… nothing.
"Huh?"
"WHAT THE FUCK!?"
'There was nothing! There was literally nothing! Nothing in a 100 meter radius had mana or aura so how, how did it fucking disappear? Did it fall off? How could it even move in that state?'
'Come to think of it, did I even sense the bird's presence in the first place!? I definitely did… up until I descended down the rock, GODDAMNIT'
'I'm seriously pathetic, I wasted my life by doing literally nothing on earth and just when I thought I would be able to accomplish something, this happens. I can't even properly watch a fucking 2 meter long bird!'
Aster was angry with himself, he was angry with Blake, he was angry with his parents for creating a pathetic excuse of a person, he was angry that he got a retarded system that can't even issue daily quests DAILY.
His heart beat madly, his blood rushed in his veins increasing his body temperature. He felt hot and without thinking, he rushed to the edge of the rock and jumped.
SPLASH!
Ice cold water shocked his nervous system, making him flinch. The cold helped to soothe his muscles and slowed down his rushing blood.
He opened his eyes, contemplating ending it when he saw something that made his brain reset and his eyes widened.
'What is that?'
