Kapitel 3: First quest

'What, what the actual fuck'

Aster thought in disbelief.

His status screen had changed drastically. There was a title, new traits and pseudo attributes. But more importantly than that, his existing attributes have all fallen to zero.

'System! What the hell happened to my attributes'

[Due to exposure to the energy storm, the host's body cells have been severely damaged beyond repair so new cells had to be created from scratch using the old ones as a basis. Host's current body can be said different body from his original] the system said.

[And laying comatose for seven months does nothing good for host's new muscle cells either.]

'Seven months????? Comatose???'

Aster was getting more and more bewildered every time the system said something.

'Alright so how can I increase my stats again and get rid of this de buff? It's not like I can just get up and exercise' He pondered.

'Let's check out this new title first.'

Aster was speechless and clueless about the new system, not to mention the brand new attributes and the traits as well. He decided to put off inspecting the unique skills as it was quite a lot of information for him to digest. Suddenly, he heard a 'ding' sound.

'A quest? The system starts to talk and now it starts issuing quests?'

'Huh, basic body strengthening? It sounds good but I don't know if it will help with my situation. But I guess it's better than nothing I guess.'

Aster then cleared his head and tried to focus. He was used to sensing his mana whenever he focused like this so it was kind of weird that he had no mana now. It did not help that there was mana in the surroundings too as it was quite distracting.

He needed something to concentrate on so he focused on his soul which now glowed with myriad of colors.

Slowly, the bewilderment and the excitement faded and Aster achieved total concentration.

Aster slowly opened his eyes and saw a leather book floating in front of him in the endless darkness. He willed it to open, and it did.

'Cool' he thought.

He then proceeded to read the book over the course of a few hours. As he read, he learned that it was exactly what he needed right now. Once he finished it, he put to use his newfound knowledge to use right away.

He focused on his soul first then he switched to something else covering it. It was the spiritual body as the book put it. He then diverted his attention to something else, the thing that covered his whole soul along with the spiritual body. It was the astral body, it was transparent and it was shaped just like his body.

Following the book's instructions, he focused all of his will into the astral body and tried to carve a pathway from his right elbow to his right middle finger on it.

It happened as soon as he willed it.

'That's weird, it wasn't supposed to be that easy.' he thought 'But I'm not complaining'

He soon carved a pathway going along his skeleton and throughout the body. He then added bunch of small tendrils that branched away from the main pathway and into his cells. It was a relatively simple pathway so it didn't take long and Aster was ready to go to the next stage.

The next stage consisted of him gathering his aura, a special type of energy only produced by living beings, and channeling it through the pathway he created.

The aura is like a cloud, released by the spiritual body and covers the entire body, and disappears into the surroundings. Finding his aura cloud was a bit hard for Aster since it was way bigger than how the book described it, and he felt bit of pride in that.

After he discovered his aura, he compressed it and willed it to the pathway. It was a fantastic feeling, controlling his aura, it was like controlling a limb he never knew he had. Except that the 'lost limb' is tiny as hair and there are like about a million of them.

The aura traveled through the pathway, revitalizing any cell that comes in contact with it. After a few aura circulations, Aster saw something that would have made him grin like a madman.
