83.33% Omnipotent system of the Otherworld's Judge / Chapter 78: Corpse

Kapitel 78: Corpse

Decades passed and Seraphile became a part of the angels of heaven.

He broke through the ranks with such speed that it put all other seraphs to shame.

Not even a century had passed when he acquired his 5th pair of wings which made him of Virtue rank.

That is if he had been an angel. Unfortunately, the former angel of kindness and humility was not what he was born as.

Every evolution triggered at the ascension of his core altered his looks bit by bit other than his wings.

His stature grew and he resembled an adult instead of his child-like appearance when he had died or returned.

The decayed feathers of his wings became more smooth and alive and instead of looking like they would fall off at any moment now, they resembled beautiful raven feathers.

On top of his hair growing longer, he had something like a horn on his head.

Overall, it was very noticeable that he was not an angel anymore, an outsider, and his new magic reflected that.

Instead of the usual flashy divine magic and holy aura, he now possessed demonic magic along with a watered-down version of miasma which wasn't as corrosive or degrading as the original.

Seraphile could be said to be a demon now but there were some differences.

It was that he had no particular sin corrupting his body or mind. He did not display any unusual appetite, preferences, desires, feelings, or ego.

If being confused was a demonic sin then he could understand it. He consulted with Raphael, the seraph of knowledge and wisdom in this regard, and got a few possible theories.

It could be that his tender nature weakened the demonic part, or maybe the divine canceled out the demonic, or maybe both.

Nevertheless, it was clear that Lucifer had done something and he intended to find out.

He worked up the courage to ask about his corpse at last and went to Michael.

He didn't want to go to Uriel as she had been strangely distant ever since he came back. Seraphile could swear he had heard the malicious thoughts running rampant in her head and he couldn't blame her.

Even he, the former representation of kindness, wanted to abandon his pacifism for once and go meet Lucifer and give him a punch to the jaw.

He flew across the sky and past some other angels who murmured to each other.

"Black wings! Isn't he the-"

"Yeah. He is the fallen one."

"Seriously? He is just like a demon."

They tried to be sneaky but the wind carried their messages to Seraphile, causing him to sigh.

His titles had been confiscated when he died a few thousand years ago so he had a different title amongst the angels now.

Seraphile The Fallen

He disliked it a lot. It sounded too ominous for his taste.

'I want my old one back.' He complained to nobody in particular.

But that was impossible as of now. Seraphile looked below, into the endless sky but not at it.

He saw past through the illusion of an endless sky and saw land beneath him.

A place so gigantic that he felt like it could rival the sky.

'So that is Gaia… Pretty big. To think a person or two is down there holding my title and is currently participating in their ongoing quest for ascension to angelhood, it is pretty mind-boggling.'

If it were any other person, they might be tempted to kill the title holder to regain it but not Seraphile. He won't let his title determine who he is.

He will stay and stand by his ideals no matter how his appearance or skill set changes.

That was his wisdom.

He descended on the entrance of the majestic castle walked up to the flight chamber and jumped up to the top floor.

As he landed on the platform, a divine golden sphere swallowed him whole, trapping him inside.

Since Metatron came running to this floor, a barrier has been erected to keep mischievous angels with not-so-urgent intentions from messing with valuable stuff.

One such stuff being the wheel of reincarnation.

When living beings die, their soul dissipates and is broken down just like molecules and atoms.

When a new life is forming, the soul is created so most of the time, the wheel of reincarnation isn't used.

The reason for that despite its name is that it does not symbolise the entire concept of reincarnation.

It is reserved for people who have lived a particularly good life with a good mindset and feelings, it takes and stores the souls for them to be reborn as angels at a later time.

In the case that it is the opposite, a demon would be born and it would be cast aside to hell.

The divine and the demonic god entrusted the wheel to the angels as they knew demons would abuse the hell out of it and achieve immortality.

They also entrusted that they wouldn't kill the newborn demons which the angels complied although grudgingly.

It was also the reason why Seraphile was surrounded by a divine barrier. It was meant to contain the lesser miasma he constantly emitted.

He walked leisurely around the halls, purposefully taking a roundabout way to reach Michael's chamber as he thought of ways to not make it sound awkward.

'Eyy brother, have you seen my corpse lying around somewhere? No, that won't work. Uriel would butcher me alive for that if she took a whiff of it.

How about asking for a graveyard but for angels? Would be too suspicious, they might think I succumbed to the demonic powers.

Sigh, I used to be able to contain them when we were all archangels. But now that they are seraphs, I don't think I can defend myself if they just decide to imprison me to get dissected by Raphael.

Come to think of it, why am I being so wimpy? I know that I don't want to upset them with the inappropriate question but I just wanna see my body, why should I get their permission?

There is a line between being considerate and being submissive. I let the power gap between us get to my head. We are siblings, they are not going to kill me for being curious.'

With a fierce resolve. He hastened his pace and headed straight towards the seraph of authority and responsibility's chamber.

"Michael! I have a request." He pushed open the platinum-colored gate.

Opposite the gate, Michael's seat was placed in front of a pale silver-colored wheel silently.

The wheel slowly spun in silence, creating an intangible, otherworldly feel.

Ignoring the wheel, he walked up to Michael who was overseeing the scenery of plain blue sky behind a window.

Seraphile walked up to him and stated his request.

"And I understand this might be a bit unreasonable request." He started to say.

"But I want to see my corpse. Or what remains of it."

Michael summoned a glass of wine and sipped it. "Sure."

He waved his hand and a marble coffin decorated with golden trimmings appeared behind Seraphile.

Without relenting, he pushed off the lid and let out a shaky breath.

Inside the coffin, were fleshy cuts and pieces of an unrecognizable person.

"I can bet my divinity that it is your body." He explained as he took a sip of the golden liquor.

"I was surprised when I saw it still inside the coffin too. Whatever your body is, it is completely different."

Michael closed his eyes as he contemplated saying something to Seraphile who was staring at his body as if he would repair it with his sight.

"After that day, I did a little bit of an investigation," Michael added.

"I am no expert on this topic but with the help of Raphael and a could hundred years of analyzing, I found out that the wheel of reincarnation has been tempered with."

Seraphile's head snapped to him as his mouth opened agape.

"You don't remember the time of your death right? There is a good chance that the wheel has been sabotaged by Lucifer."

"But it's impossible! It's a myth class item, maybe even higher than that!" Seraphile cried out.

"How can a greater demon tamper with it?"

"Exactly. He couldn't do much damage as his knowledge and strength was limited at the time." Michael closed his eyes and proposed an offer.

"I say we should pay him a visit."

A reminder that this mini-arc is to showcase the angels since we already saw a bit of the demon side.
