Ellis sprinted after the car, trying to keep it in his sight at all times. He trailed the car but lost sight of it as it turned a corner. When he rounded the corner, he saw the car parked off in the distance. Ellis ran to the car and looked inside of it, finding it was empty. Ellis looked around. He was outside of some sort of club.
They must have gone in there.
Ellis thought to himself with a frown. he walked up to the front door of the club. On either side of the doors were large muscular men in suits and sunglasses. As Ellis tried to walk past them one of them stepped in front of him, blocking his path.
"We're closed, leave."
A big burly man with a deep voice crossed his arms and looked down at Ellis.
Ellis didn't have time for this. His sister was in trouble. He grabbed the bouncer's head and thrust it down onto his knee, knocking him out instantly. He turned and glared at the other bouncer with bloodlust in his eyes. The bouncer barreled toward him and tried to throw a punch. Ellis caught the bouncer's fist and twisted it behind the guy's back.
"Take me to my little sister. Now!"
Ellis hissed through clenched teeth into the guy's ear before shoving him towards the door.
"I don't know who that is."
The man said back to him desperately.
"The girl who was just brought in here."
Ellis shouted back at the man as he twisted the man's arm farther behind his back.
"Ok, I will! Don't break my arm!"
The bouncer whimpered and Ellis shoved him forward into the door. The guy opened the door and Ellis followed him inside. Music was pounding his eardrums and flashing lights assaulted his eyes. He looked around and saw that the main area was empty. The bouncer led him through the building to the back and stopped in front of a door with a sign labeled, 'private room.'
From outside the door, Ellis could hear shouting.
"We gave you the money now you have to pay us back. Customers pay to fuck you. If you don't open your legs soon, you're not going to have such a pretty face anymore. Why don't I show you what you're supposed to be doing?"
BAM!
The door slammed open and everyone inside the room turned to face the door. Ellis walked in and looked around the room. There were six boyish looking guys no more than 25 all crowding around Solara. They were all wearing expensive-looking clothes and jewelry. A guy in the middle of the group holding Solara had a gold Wolex watch wrapped around his wrist. They were nothing but a bunch of rich punks. Solara looked up at Ellis in humiliation.
"Who the fuck are you?"
Wolex yelled out. Ellis glared back intensely with anger in his eyes as he walked closer toward the boys. The group stood there in shock as he approached before he stopped in front of them.
"Hey, dumbass! You deaf?"
Ellis quickly reached out and gripped Rolex's arm, squeezing it firmly. The punk's bones creaked as Ellis squeezed harder.
"Ah!"
The guy let go of Solara and tried to pull his arm out of Ellis's grasp, but it wouldn't budge.
"I'm her brother, and if you lay one more finger on her you won't have them anymore."
Ellis loosened his grip and the guy yanked his arm away. The guy took a few steps back and laughed.
"Awe, is your brother here to save you? Big bro coming to rescue his little sister. How cute. Well you see, she borrowed money from us, so she needs to pay it back. I suggest you leave before you get hurt."
Wolex said as he gestured toward his accomplices. They all stepped forward, blocking Ellis's path to his sister.
"How much does she owe; I'll just pay you now and you can leave her alone."
Ellis said, trying to control his anger and not smash their skulls in. He didn't want Solara to have to see him kill anyone.
"I doubt that you have enough to pay off her debt. Besides, we like having her around."
Wolex licked his lips with a disgusting look in his eyes as he grabbed Solara's arm once again.
"Maybe beating your brother in front of you will finally convince you to do what we say. Will that change your mind?"
Wolex said as he pulled Solara's face to his before he licked her cheek. A horrified look came across Solara's face. Solara pulled her head back and then whipped it forward, smashing her forehead into the guy's nose. Blood gushed down his face and onto the floor, but he still didn't let go of her.
"You bitch!"
Wolex brought his hand up to slap Solara across the face. Ellis rushed forward into the group of people toward Solara. The first rich punk brought up his hand to punch Ellis. Ellis didn't even care about dodging the punch from the skinny punk. The fist collided with Ellis's face. The guy's eyes opened wide in shock as his fist hit what felt like an immovable brick wall. In one swift move, Ellis shoved the guy sending him backward into the other guys behind him, blood dripping from his mouth.
He had held back a lot to make sure he didn't kill the guy but to think that the guy was still in this state. It was pathetic.
As Wolex's hand came down it suddenly stopped. The guy looked up to see Ellis glaring down at him. Ellis clenched his hand, crushing the man's arm causing him to drop to his knees before he let go.
"Come on. We're leaving."
Ellis said as he turned toward Solara.
"You shouldn't have done that!"
Wolex said through clenched teeth as he pulled a knife out with his good arm and lunged at Ellis. Ellis turned around to teach the guy another lesson but before Ellis could even touch him Solara's leg flashed forward and connected with Wolex's face, sending him teetering backward before he hit the ground, unconscious.
"Wow. Nice."
Ellis looked at Solara and nodded in approval. The last three remaining guys blocked the exit with weapons drawn. One had a crowbar. One had a knife. One had brass knuckles.
"You can't come in here and fuck with us that easily."
Crowbar guy said as he stepped toward Ellis. Ellis stepped forward to meet him as well as keep Solara behind him. The crowbar guy swung his crowbar down at Ellis's head. Ellis shifted his head to the side and the crowbar glided through the air past him. He then grabbed crowbar guy by the head and threw him at the other two guys who were approaching him. Crowbar guy slammed into the wall, missing the other two guys. Knife guy lunged, aiming for Ellis's gut. Ellis twisted out of the way and then punched him in the gut as softly as he could. Blood still spurted from the guy's mouth as he collapsed to the ground gasping for air as he struggled to breathe. Ellis turned to find brass knuckles guy swinging his fist at him but before his fist could connect his knees buckled and he fell to the ground. Behind him was Solara, holding the crowbar. Solara dropped the crowbar before falling to her knees shaking. Ellis walked up to her.
"I'm sorry, big brother. We needed the money. I didn't know what to do. I'm sorry."
Solara said as she began to cry.
"It's okay. We won't have to worry about money anymore, I promise."
Ellis said as he picked her up from the ground. A dark expression overcame his face as he decided what he was going to do. He was going to accept Droven's invitation. Ellis headed for the exit carrying his sister. Standing outside the door he had kicked down was the bouncer. Ellis stopped in front of the bouncer.
"I'll be back tomorrow to pay what she owes. Whenever Wolex wakes up let him know to leave my sister the fuck alone or I will kill everyone here."
The bouncer nodded quickly as Ellis finished his sentence with a cold stare. Ellis turned and left. As he headed home his sister fell asleep.
She must have had a long day.
When Ellis got back to the apartment, he laid Solara down on her bed and covered her up with her blankets. Then he quietly left the apartment and pulled out his phone before he dialed the number on the card that Droven had given him.
"I've been expecting your call."
A voice rang out as Droven answered Ellis's call immediately.
"I accept on three conditions. You will protect my family, give my mother the best care you can get, and make sure that Solara gets into whatever school she wants to go to."
"That's all you want? We can make that happen easily, as well as some other benefits."
Droven responded happily. Ellis could hear the smile in his voice.
"Lucky for you, I already have your first mission. I'll send it to you now."
Buzz.
Ellis's phone vibrated. He looked down at his phone and opened the message. It was a location on a map at the edge of town.
"What's there?"
Ellis asked as he put the phone back to his ear.
"It's a monster. You're the closest person we have to its location. Consider this a test to see your worth. Kill it before it gets into the populated part of the city, there is more information in the message. Exterminate it quickly."
Droven said urgently.
"Ok."
Ellis responded before he hung up. The message had a description of the monster. It was around the size of a car with large boney spikes covering its entire body like a porcupine.
I'm going to need some gear for this.
Ellis thought to himself as he read the description of the monster. He snuck back into the apartment and quietly grabbed his halberd.
Ellis grabbed the protective clothing from the Tower and held them up. Solara must have cleaned them at some point because they were no longer soaked in blood.
These could provide me with at least a little bit of protection without having to go full out.
Ellis slipped on the protective clothes. He then put a dark hoodie and jeans on over the top of them. He grabbed his bag with the health potion in it just in case. Before he left, Ellis opened his TowerCard and checked it out his stats.

Everything looks good. My agility should be high enough to run if the monster is too much for me.
Ellis thought to himself as he quietly grabbed his stuff and left to head to the location on the map. The halberd had a slight warm glow to it which made it a little more noticeable at night, so he used the backstreets to make his way to where the monster had been seen. Luckily, all the construction crews had been evacuated due to the monster sighting which made sneaking around a lot easier. It didn't really matter if anyone saw him, but he wanted to avoid the hassle of anyone recognizing him and making his life difficult.
When Ellis made it to the ruined part of the city, he checked his phone quickly to see where the monster had been seen and began searching for it. It didn't take very long. The monster was shambling around, shaking the ground with every step and picking through rotten corpses. Ellis hid behind a broken wall and inspected the monster. Ellis couldn't see it super well in the dark from far away, but he could tell that calling it around the size of a car was an understatement, it looked to be the size of a truck.
